  1. This is very true. It's almost 80 years old, so I think it's pretty unrealistic to think that you're going to be able to double your investment if you want to sell. I bought my 51 in 1992, and trust me, there was no way I could have ever forseen how much money it was going to cost to build. And it was only 41 years old at the time. I say do it though, it definitely has potential. Like Scott said, put a Ford motor in it, or better yet a flathead. That would definitely be period correct.
  2. Well, if you decide to set your car on fire before putting a trans. in it, let me have the rack before you do..
  3. $300? It's $1,049 according to Jegs.com. I searched a bit more and found JC Whitney had it for $872, but that's the cheapest I could find.
  4. That sucks, that means the box has already been off once for the pitman and now it has to come off again.......
  5. Those trucks are also good for wearing out pitman and idler arms. Makes for very sloppy steering.
  6. Ace down on the south end maybe? Not sure what they're paying right now, but I would imagine they buy them.
  7. You can also cut the bolt out of the shackle (carefully), and if you have access to a press and lots of pentrating oil and patience, you can sometimes press the bolt out of the bushing sleeve. This is good if you'd like to resuse the bushing. I've had success doing this. If you aren't worried about the bushing, then I'd just use heat like the other guys said.
  8. I sent you a PM (in regards to an earlier thread), actually before I read this thread. PM me your email and I'll shoot you some pics.
  9. I have 4 15x8's with beauty rings and no center caps. $100.
  10. You'd probably like to see that anyway you damn traitor...........
  11. I agree that sometimes things have to go and it seems like now isn't a good time to try and save Pontiac; however, I am confused as to why they are keeping GMC. To me it seems like a no brainer to get rid of a truck only line, especially considering they are rebadged/retrimmed Chevrolets.
  12. Happy Birthday buddy...........let's do some celebratory shots of Jager right before we tile your floor.
  13. A friend of mine had a very similar issue with his 90 TSI Talon. He drove it work and everything was good. When he started it after work, it fired and ran for about a second or two and then died. Once we tore into it, we found the timing belt was loose and 8 bent valves. The timing tensioner randomly took a shit and the belt came loose and that was that.
  14. I do all of my vehicles every 3,000-3,500. I don't think I have ever run my Impala until the oil life monitor says to. I work with a guy who has a 4 cyl. S10 that he let go 75,000 miles between oil changes. He said he got about a quart of sludge out of the pan and that was it. This particular truck now has over 150,000 miles on it, and he has had better luck with this truck than I ever have with any vehicle. Go figure.
  15. This pretty well sums it up.......best of luck though, I have been reading about this since it happened. Hope it all works out for you.
  16. They could at least include a net. Cheap bastards.....
  17. It's been 35 for at least a few weeks now. I work at the airport and have to catch myself almost everyday from speeding there. I think the only notification was in the Gahanna newspaper. Nice.
  18. Maybe I am missing something, but I was wondering the same thing....
  19. Maybe it's those richman gears and proformer heads that make it so expensive.......
  20. You should buy my car........... http://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/1129745928.html I'll give you a CR discount!
  21. Looks badass.......I lowered my TA with Eibach springs (pro kit). It rides about the same (originally WS6) and looks so much better. I have an album with a few pics if you want to see how low it would be.
  22. This is exactly what I had to do.....I guess it was easier to send a letter than go without a paycheck.
  23. The Great Pumpkin + Turbo = Win. Staying on topic, though, I'd say a single would be the best for what you want.....
