I'm a little disappointed the Snuggie didn't do better........

I am considering selling my 2004 Impala SS. It is black with a neutral interior, 62K, L67 (3.8 SC), fully loaded. The only option it doesn't have is the Indy package, which is basically some badges and gay looking front seats. It has everything else, like leather, dual heated/power seats, moonroof, etc, etc. No mods, just a K&N drop in. Car runs and drives perfect, never given me any problems whatsoever. All maintenance is up to date, and it has a relatively n ew set of Pirellis on it. Exterior is an 8.5 out of 10 (it's black....need I say more?). No dents. The only 2 flaws are a spot in the paint on the hood (about the size of a quarter) that looks like pine sap, and a scratch in the windshield from a bad wiper blade (thank the wife for that...). If I can get what I'm asking out of it, then I'll replace the windshield. The interior is perfect, no flaws at all. I have owned the car since the beginning of 2006, and it had 20K on it when I bought it GM Certified from a Chevy dealer in Mass. I have the original window sticker and paperwork as well. It has been garage kept up until a few months ago when an unexpected project forced it outside, but that is now finished so it should be going back inside this weekend. I am asking $9500, which is below KBB and NADA. I am also open to offers, but nothing ridiculous please, as I am not desperate to sell it. My only reason for selling is that I don't drive the car that much any more. I'll get some pictures this weekend, if I can get the snow and ice shit cleaned off of it and back inside. Thanks for looking.

$100...........and you have to tow it to my house.

I am willing to bet that I have been behind more people going slow in the left lane driving a Buick than a Honda. But I'll try and stay out of your way as I am driving my non-modded, 38 MPG, bone stock DD Civic.

That should be the 2.5 v6 (Mitsu), not the shitpile 2.7..............I believe 2001 was the first year for that disaster of an engine.

We probably should continue to pay people $25-$35 an hour to stick knobs on car radios and tighten lug nuts. The average starting pay for a commercial aviation mechanic, for example, is around $13 an hour. You can honestly say that installing door panels and steering wheels should pay more than a job that requires not only skill, but judgement that if made incorrectly could cost lives? I know people that have worked in unions that also limited your productivity. Even if you had nothing else to do, you weren't allowed to pick up a broom and sweep because that was someone else's job (in the union) and that was taking their job. Or if your contract said you could only test one circuit board an hour, that was all you were allowed to do, even though realistically you could do 20 an hour. That also makes a lot of sense. Unions were a necessary thing in the past, but anymore they have just become a way to for people to make a shitload of money for working at about 1/10th of they're capable of. In the end, I think the automakers should get bailed out, as long they're under strict supervision, and they need to lose the unions so they can pay their employees reaonable, not extravagant wages.

Excellent instructions, I have done a bunch of headliners and this exactly how I've always done them. Don't try and resuse the old material, as a lot of times (not always) it's the foam backing on the fabric that has broken down and not so much the adhesive. Also, +1000 for keeping your hands clean, especially when working with a light fabric.

Sounds like it motor time for the Vision.......

As an Iowa fan, I'm pretty excited about what happened in today's game.............

My job is outdoors year round and I don't even wear the arctic lined Carhartts when it's 0, let alone 50. The normal quilted lining is more than adequate, even on the coldest and windiest of nights (it's always windy at the airport).

You're just mad that he didn't drive a Fox in Knight Rider.....

Right here. Sleeping outside in a rainstorm was no fun, but the weekend filled with the sounds of silence was nice.

Attn: all 90-92 camaro owners - over-heating problems?
TA In Progress replied to fictionwriter's topic in Tech and Tips
Like Dave already said, MAKE sure the air dam and air deflectors are all installed. I was out driving mine after I painted it without the air dam installed (too impatient I guess) and it ran almost 40 degrees hotter than normal. I reinstalled the air dam and problem was gone. It's very important on a car like ours with no grille, as the majority of the cooling air is directed to the radiator from below the bumper. -
Everyone needs to realize, regradless of which side you're on, that each candidate has a lot of ideas that are going to cost a lot of money. It seems like everyone wants to vote for the person that is going to save them the most money. How does McCain expect to pay for the war by cutting taxes? How does Obama expect to pay for his healthcare plan by cutting taxes? This stuff costs money and I'm not sure how cutting taxes is going to pay for either. As it's been said on here over and over, the majority of Americans (rich down to poor) are selfish as hell and want something for nothing. Nobody wants to sacrifice anything anymore, and everytone thinks THEY deserve the tax break. I'd love to see a flat tax, where there was no question about fairness and who's getting screwed. I'd also be for no tax cut, or even slightly higher taxes if, at the end of the day, my dollar was worth more and our country was in better shape. Also, try going to http://www.taxpolicycenter.org. Supposedly a non-partisan website that breaks down each candidates tax proposals.

You know you would've kept them if they were flannel........

3M makes a fairly thin aluminum tape that might work. I know it holds parts on airplanes at 520 MPH anyways.......

+1 I had this same problem several years ago on my wife's 2000 Cav. The originals lasted 100k, but once they went bad, they had to be changed about every 6-7 months. I never bought cheap bearings and they were always torqued to the correct specs. I checked everything in the front end, and always cleaned the knuckle before installing the new ones. We sold the car a few years back, but I never could figure it out.

I have an 88 Trans Am. I'll go take some pics here in a bit. It's been restored, it was a complete piece of shit when I got it (looked like it had been in a demo derby and leaked about a quart of oil a day). I was given 2 other TA's to part out when somebody gave me this car, otherwise I would have sent it to the boneyard. It's only saving grace was that it was rust free and the interior was almost perfect. I have replaced every panel on the car except for the windshield frame and passenger rear 1/4 due to being wrecked about 10 times by the previous owner. Everything was painted before the car was reassembled, and all new weatherstripping was installed as well. It has every suspension piece Spohn makes, including SFC's. I don't have a lot of money in it (the car was free as well as the 2 parts cars) but it's a fun cruiser that handles really well.

That line sounds familiar.....

Some states require their titles to be notorized and some don't. It will say on the title. Just make sure it's notorized before you leave if it needs to be, or else you'll be sending the title back for notorization. If it's from a private seller you don't need a bill of sale either, only if it's from a dealership. The only other thing you need is an inspection (they go look at the VIN and make sure they match). It's really very easy, I've bought 3 cars in the past year from out of state. Also, check with the state you're buying the car in about temp tags, some states don't even have them, and they vary in length in the states that do. I got one last summer in Illinois that was for either 5 or 7 days. As for getting temp tags before you go, I'm pretty sure Ohio won't issue a temp tag unless you have a title or bill of sale.

+1000 Couldn't have said it any better. -
What fun is that? It actually isn't that much more than a regular plate these days. I think mine was only about 25 or 30 more than my other cars....
-
Think of how much money the state would save if they only had to make one plate for every registration instead of two. I have heard the arguement that if a car is backed into a spot, say against a wall or building, they can still see the plate on the front. I think it's dumb, and don't have one on my TA, but at least it's in the front windshield. I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in my brand new, discontinued GM front bumper cover.

Yeah, sorry I didn't call you, but my dad called me last minute as he was leaving, so I didn't get a chance to call anyone.

Yeah it was that light green/teal colored one. I think it was a gray interior, but I can't swear to it.
