That's fair. If he's looking for something to spend money on, springs would probably be where I'd start.

I just question the security of a flimsy metal cabinet... I feel like a decent wooden cabinet would actually be more secure.

No offense, but if you're just getting into STT's intermediate group, you don't need to be upgrading anything on a 2006 bike. Just ride the thing.

The HF trailer is cheap, folds and takes up less space than a bike, can be pulled by a 4 cylinder sedan, and can carry a lot more than a bike if you need it to. The last thing I used my trailer for was moving 10 sheets of plywood decking for my porch roof.

I understand those concerns, but who here has ever seen one fail? I have only seen 4 or 5 of these in use, but the owners always love them.

is this what you're talking about? http://www.menards.com/main/safes/pistols-up-to-14/stack-on-security-plus-8-gun-cabinet-6-6-cu-ft-keyed-lock-green/p-1720306-c-19101.htm

what about fire boxes for ammo? what do you guys use so there aren't 5,000 rounds of 22lr flying at the fire department if the house goes up?

Fully mobile daughter and desire to expand my firearms collection has me considering ways to keep my guns locked up. Currently I just keep everything in range bags and tool boxes in my bedroom closet. Nothing is stored loaded, but I also do not store the gun with my bolt locked open. What I'm debating is building a sturdy wooden cabinet, or purchasing a metal cabinet. Both would lock. The wooden cabinet could be custom built to match my bedroom furniture, or built tough & ugly if I hide it in a closet. I know this will not stop determined thieves, but a bulky gun safe is not in my budget, nor does it fit the décor of my bedroom - and that is where I want to store my firearms, so I have access to them in the (admittedly unlikely) event of a home invasion. From a security standpoint, this would only be designed to stop kids (mine and her friends) or truly inept thieves (working in the criminal justice system, this covers a significant portion of the gun-stealing population...). At that point the debate comes down to whether I want something tough & ugly built into the corner of my closet (screwed into the wall studs so the whole cabinet can't easily be removed), or if I want something closer to my bed, also screwed into the wall studs, but more decorative looking to match the bedroom set. The main drawback with that is that it's out in the open, and warrants attention. I would plan to put faux drawers on the cabinet door, but I can't think of any way to cleanly hide the lock(s). So a few basic questions for the group: 1) is a cheap metal cabinet better? 2) do you think it's dumb to have the cabinet out in the open when 'hiding' it in the closet is a viable option? This isn't intended to be a monstrosity of a piece - I would just want a couple of shelves for handguns (no more than 4) and ammo, and then room for 2-4 rifles. I'd use pretty thick wood - at least 3/4" just so that it's solid and substantial enough to take some abuse from an amateur. Corners would be reinforced with angled metal, and I might even consider plating the interior with cheap sheet-metal and short wood-screws to hold the wood together better if someone starts beating on it, and maybe make the whole thing more resistant to fire. I'd want room for a fire-box to store ammo as well. I'd probably throw personal items like social security cards and birth certificates in there too.

it's nice to hear that my bearing concerns are likely unfounded. I re-pack the bearings yearly, and really don't put many miles on the trailer. I still try to keep the speedo at or under 70 just for sake of fuel economy, and because the cheap trailer tires aren't balanced.

Just as an update, I believe Geoff May and Josh Herrin are both confirmed entrants for the 200 this year. Josh Hayes was inches away from a deal to race a bike prepped and sponsored by Marietta Motorsports, but the brass at Yamaha wouldn't allow it (not that I blame them).

I can't speak directly to LinkedIn, but social media marketing is a big part of my wife's job. They don't look at it as "how many clients did this bring us," but rather "how many clients did this keep us from losing to competitors." One presentation she attended phrased it as something to the extent of 'your ROI in social media marketing will not be measured in dollars, but rather it will be one of the reasons your business continues to exist at all 5 years from now.'

"Decent" is about the most you can say for it Otherwise I think it's up to $20 to practice on any weekday. Weekends, they usually have events. Just call them ahead to make sure someone will be at the gate. Also post on the OMRL facebook group and someone will probably come out to ride with you. Yes, we do have practice the morning of race dates, and you can stick around after the raceday for more track time if you want.

I would favor tiered licensing if only because it would create a market for more small displacement bikes in the US. a DRZ 125sm would be an awesome and fun first bike

I probably need these...

I have an iPhone 4 still. It has to be close to 4 years old. I can't download the latest operating system, but it hasn't given me much of an issue (yet?). What I'm driving at is that I wouldn't be too concerned about a 5s having support issues soon. That said, I do not ask a lot from my phone. I just send emails, play games, play on the internet, and make an occasional call.

Which model are these?

Any chance in the outskirts of hell that you want to trade for a katana, a rifle, and some stereo equipment? ???? I wouldn't have even asked, but i failed to win the powerball on Wednesday...

If people are willing to drop the "epic" and just roll with "ride Ohio," there might be a much larger market for the skull design.

Okay new plan: get ice fishing permit. Piss off ice fishermen whose quads are not falling through the ice. Who in CLE wants in?
-
right, but who started it? who sets up the course, decides when the ice is thick enough, gets permission (is that even necessary?) to be on the lake, etc?
-
Who organizes the buckeye lake stuff? I can't drive 2+ hours to do this all winter, but I'd like to come down and find out the safety basics to start organizing something on Lake Erie.

I used to work for the holding company that owns Sunbelt Business Brokers (http://www.sunbeltnetwork.com/). Business valuation is a large part of what they do when people approach them trying to sell their business. I did not work with that brand (the holding company had 6 other brands), and I have no idea who would be in your area, but this is right up their alley. If you're interested, I do know that their brand manager is now a stay-at-home mom, and a friend of mine. She would have more specific information on the Ohio locations and which owner(s) is/are best at what you're looking for. She may also be qualified to do a comprehensive business valuation herself on the cheap. I know she had completed a ton of certifications that the owners expected her to have before they would take her seriously. PM me if you'd like me to contact her. She may do it as a one-off job at a steep discount. In the alternative, another former Sunbelt corporate employee is now a practicing attorney. He might be able to knock out even more of what you're asking about, but I don't know if he was as involved with the business brokerage side of things. Both Ed and Kelsey are people I would trust with my own money.

stocking inventory is expensive. that would not surprise me at all.

I have no idea what kind of pace the OP is running, but don't be in too big of a hurry to buy more tire than your pace requires... Racing is expensive enough without that.

I work in Painesville, but I don't get to ride in very often. Welcome.
