  1. It's a Dynojet needle from their $60 kit. Supposedly engineered for that exact bike. Even tells you what to set everything at. Bone stock bike just lean as fuck. I plan to try dropping the needle one spot tonight and see if that helps. It worked on the XR
  2. So, after road testing, the Suzuki ran like shit. So here we go again with another carb rebuild. After doing my research, it is apparent that these come from the factory ridiculously lean. $100 and a bottle of pine-sol later, it is rebuilt and rejetted with a Dyno jet kit. All settings are exactly what the dynojet paperwork calls for. Fires right up with a little choke and idles good. Road testing reveals a major surge and stumble at half throttle. Low speed and wide-open throttle are decent. My initial thought say raise the needle, but I did that on the XR250 several times and got increasingly shittier results until I actually lowered the needle. About to go off and read up on the adventure bike forums, but do any of our in-house carburetor gurus have any advice?
  3. I used to have this Asian friend @jbot who posted all kinds of funny fucked up shit all the time. And then he had kids became boring. Want to be my new Asian friend?
  4. I'm a probably depending on on call schedule and weather. Nevermind. On call. Have fun peeps.
  5. Mine was pretty rough also. 900 miles in the last eight years. Been sitting too much. Stripped it and soaked it overnight in Pine-Sol and it's good as new. hopefully putting it back together tonight and with fatter jets and adjustable needle from the dynojet kit. I neednone one of those extended mix screws.
  6. Who did you send it to? What was wrong with it? just curious because I'm rebuilding the same carb right now.
  7. Butters is in Arizona and Gump is in NC
  8. Holy shit, that's gotta hurt.
  9. That is so badass! Same 1st bike I got when I was 7. Would kill to still have it. I would clean it up and put it on display. I'd figure out a way to hang it on the wall or park it in the corner of the living room, duct taped seat and all!
  10. Wouldn't surprise me. Can't wait to hear this thing.
  11. Someone just display it in the living room? That's crazy.
  12. Honda Z50. Not this nice Then on to a 74 Yamaha DT360. Couldn't touch the ground by at least 8 inches or dream of picking it up if I dropped it. Rode all over the local country side in the summer while I was left home alone. I was 11 or 12. Don't know what my dad was thinking. Great couple summers
  13. Fast but you gotta stay in the gas.
  14. I'll bet being the ugly Chippendale pays more than you think
  15. I'd be tempted to stay there and take the severance. The economy is really good right now at least around here and there are plenty of good jobs available at the moment. Plus, the older I get the less I like working shit tons of overtime. And they can shove their Saturday straight up their ass. That's me time.
  16. Pulled and disassembled the DR650 carb and soaked it overnight in pine-sol. Came out squeaky clean. Waiting on my rebuild and jet kit from @ponyjr
  17. Check out Palmetto State Armory for really nice ARs at bargain prices
  18. I raced on both definitely prefer the long track. That short bastard is a death trap! Most likely in!
  19. Checked out an LCP II last night. Waiting for butters to tell us how it shoots. Liked what I saw. It was on sale at Field & Stream for 279
  20. Never seen anything so lean. Runs terrible
  21. Pulled the carb off of the DR last night and opened it up to find everything Stock. Then did a bunch of research in preparation to fatten up the jetting since this thing is obnoxiously lean. Got a buy a bunch of new screws since the previous owner apparently did everything with an impact Probably going to go ahead and do a valve check since it's tore down this far
  22. I'm sure he got a baseline feel for it in 20 miles
