Bad324
What would your ideal weekend getaway ride be? Tossing some ideas around in my head for a free weekend I have to go somewhere different Ideally the schedule would be leave Friday after work and get a couple hours of riding in before dark. Get around 3-400 miles in on Saturday, then high tail it back home on Sunday. Best case scenario is end up somewhere Sat night a little touristy or with a brewery or some food place that is a must go to, I like to eat
smccrory
If you want twisties and scenery, go southeast of Columbus into Hocking Hills or further into West Virginia. Or go to Cambridge, stay at Salt Fork Lodge and ride a circle around the reservoir (some dirt options in there too). The Cleveland and Akron areas have great museum destinations, though the riding doesn't compare to southern ohio. I enjoyed the Stan Hyet house, Case Western's car museum, R&R hall of fame, USS Cod submarine...
Bad324
You bring up some good ones but I probably should add this in the OP so I'll edit it. I live in CLE so Cleveland/Akron stuff is out, I've been to Hocking Hills a couple times now. My goal is to try somewhere new if I end up doing this to check it off the list so to speak! Tpoppa
I can give you some really good WV routes that lean toward the super twisty. Can't help you with the touristy stuff though. I do most my sight seeing approaching triple digits
Connie14
My favorite weekend trips are too Franklin, NC and nearby locales or Seneca Rocks, WV. Anytime my wife takes the kids somewhere I try to hit one of these. There is nothing touristy, but it is some good riding.
Tpoppa
Agree. Lots of really good riding around Seneca Rocks. From Cleveland you can make it to Harrisonburg, VA in one day via some really good roads, including Seneca Rocks & the RT33 mountain pass which is pretty incredible. Harrisonburg is a college town with a bunch of good bars and restaurants. Lots of good roads to choose from:http://www.motoroads.net/wv/wv.htm Edited March 7, 2014 by Tpoppa
3.504
Red river gorge area If you can make it to NC, go a little further into north Georgia, probably best roads in the country. I once stayed at the top of the gap (arrived on a Saturday around 10am) rode all day Saturday, then did 4 states (tn, nc, ga, sc) for 480 miles Sunday, returned home Sunday night, home by midnight. It was an awesome weekend.

You're not far from Detroit. I hear the scenery is fantastic year-round. Or go East towards several national forests in PA (Allegheny, Elk, Sproul, etc.). Lock Haven is a picturesque Amish stronghold and the roads to Jersey Shore (not the Snookie one) and Williamsport is lovely, with a number of B&Bs along the way. Gixxus Christ!
The berlin/Millersburg area has some decent roads around it, not all super great but it's pretty good riding if you just point it south and go. Plenty of hot tub cabins and lodges to stay at in the area and berlin is about as touristy as amish Country gets. Bagz sports bar on 39 in downtown mburg makes about the best pretzel bun bacon cheeseburger you could ask for.

Tonik
Seneca Rock is a good choice. I will add a couple. Circle Lake Erie. Friday night to Buffalo, hit the falls and across to Windsor Saturday. Hang at the Casino and Jason's. Not great riding but a fun trip. CLV to just past Pittsburgh Friday night...hit FallingWater the Frank Lloyd Wright house then south for some great roads. Stay South of Morgantown then 250 back to New Philly hitting the prison in Moundsville.http://goo.gl/maps/NRpav Cleveland towards Charleston WV Friday. Then back roads down to Marion VA. You will thank me for pointing you towards RT 16 just north of Marion. Then Sun up through Beckley and the Gourge and up 19/16.http://goo.gl/maps/CGZEy
max power
You could come to the fishin shack and ride with the bubbys for the weekend. No foofy microbreweries, but the local bars are quite entertaining and the roads are fantastic.

Bad324
The only issue (to some) is it would be the same weekend as the Epic Ride. I did it last year and since I'm missing the Gap trip I was thinking along these lines of doing something different
