If some of these old cars were the best to DD, you'd still see them on the road, and I don't see ANY of these cars fucking mentioned.

you live it the wrong part of the country move to a area where you never see snow and it would be more common place.

WOW!! I didn't know such a thing exist!!

I'll take one of those with a diesel power plant and 4x4 please!!

I believe there actually is a guy that has that exact truck you described with a 12v cummins, but I think it isn't a true factory crew cab, none the less cool as fuck.

This would really be preferred but they are impossible to find

They're impossible to find because they never made a factory crew for the 67-72 trucks.

But I have to agree a 67-72 chevy/gmc of any kind would is the best kind of daily.

This, clay seems to enjoy them as well

These days, I'm all about simple transportation. My wife will always have a newer ride (i.e. her Odyssey) but having an old pickup truck can't be beat. Once I get the Ford fixed up, I'm going to DD it downtown, wearing a suit nonetheless. Keep the Passat for longer trips out of town or when A/C is needed between May and October.

As I've found out, the only problem with older trucks is converting the old A/C to R-134 (which I did to my '82 Chevy diesel) and cruise control (none of my trucks have them :(). Aside from those two items, they will be reliable. WHEN something breaks, you know you can buy a part from ANY parts store anywhere you are in America for cheap - and be able to do field repairs relatively easily: That's great piece of mind.

Diesel rabbit . . . 45 mpg, run forever, and when the weather gets bad, they will still roll 55mph down the road when 4x4's are going 30.

And you get the satisfaction of telling a hybrid owner to suck it!

Definately an 80's car that I remember (I used to work for Hammonds Electronics in the day). These (1987 Shelby charger) would do a pretty good burnout in the day

Don't forget about the 86 - 87 RX7's (Sticking @ 25 years or older). They were not turbo charged yet, but you couold drive them for 175 - 200K.

This is my husband's dd

'86 prelude si

It had some rust, so my husband decided to rhino-line it just for fun...he treats it like his own little rally car :D

Problems are that a lot of parts are really hard to find or they don't make them anymore :(

I know it's not 25+ years old, but a DD'd a 91 ford escort Lx 5 speed with the 1.9L in high school and some of college. Never left me stranded and I ran the ever living piss out of it.

One of my work friends had one a couple years ago...it survived having a garbage truck land on it. Literally. Insurance totaled it out, but it was drivable with some hammer work.

That's pretty much how I feel. I envy you. I also envy others who drive clean old cars everyday and even those who enjoy their stripped-out cars.

There are days where I cannot stand all the technology in my Saab and I pine for a brutally simple car and having a lot of fun with it.

I have another vote, I saw it on the way home and I thought that is awesome.

A nice black Crown Victoria
