Only a Bama vs Oregon would give the NCG a higher rating.

Oregon, with the Heisman winner at the helm vs. tOSU, on it's 3rd string QB, after the tragic loss of a teammate, pitching the first conf championship shutout in very impressive fashion, AND beating the #1 team in the country would prob draw higher ratings. :)

I just pitched to the wife a trip to sugar bowl. She said she would consider it. I told her I would consider not divorcing her.

Do it! I don't know if you have ever been to NOLA but I have been a couple times and took my wife to the sugar bowl in 2011 for our honeymoon and she loved it. She has talked about it ever since. She says she would rather go back to NOLA than the beach for our next vacation. She asked me today if I would take her for our anniversary this year.

Neither of us have ever been to New Orleans. It's on my list of places to visit - so, two birds, one stone...

Kudos to the committee for getting it right, sending a message, and staying true to its word. The message is that the B12 needs to get its shit together and have a championship game. (I also think the B12 made themselves look like idiots with it's one true champions faux pas. Like Machiavelli said - it's better to ally yourself with one side or another as opposed to trying to appease both.) The committee stayed true to its word by putting Ohio State over both TCU and Baylor (thus legitimizing them saying championships matter) and by putting Baylor over TCU (thus legitimizing them saying head-to-head matters).

but we still need an 8 team playoff. I know there would still be complaining from number 9. But there are just so many good teams in college ball. its the only way to be sure you have one, DESERVING, champion. Look at the basketball tournament. Why is that so difficult to comprehend?!!? (for Fball organizers)

Yeah, 8 is perfect. 5 P5 conference champs (and B12 is forced to have championship game), 3 at large bids. No Notre Dame special rule. 3 at larges can come from anywhere - all from SEC or PAC12 or from American Conference, whatever.

Higher seeded team hosts in first round. These games are played mid-December. Gives us something to look forward in "down period" between now and end of the year. Also, gives teams enough time to recover, game plan, etc. 8 goes to 4.

Bowls host second round and championship game (like it's structured now). 4 goes to 2, and 2 goes to 1.

Voila.

The way my wife is talking it sounds like we may indeed go. Let me know if your going and we will show you around. I spent 3 weeks down there the first time I visited so I am decently familiar with a lot of it. New year's and the sugar bowl is the perfect time to experience bourbon st. You can experience the party atmosphere with a very tolerable crowd. I will never visit the French quarter on fat Tuesday for Mardi gras again. Biloxi, Miss is only 30 mins drive and have awesome casinos as well.

My brother in law works for the university of Alabama. He got free tickets. Looks like I'm heading down after Christmas for some family time and he and I will be taking a road trip to the game while the women watch the kids

Lucky guy lol. It will be a long drive home for you though...

So I just read all 11 pages I missed since Friday, and here are my thoughts:

1) Jive- you're an annoying idiot, but at the same time, this thread wouldn't be as entertaining without you. Props on that.

2) I took my dad to the game for his Christmas gift, and it was one of the best nights of my life. 24 hours later, I have no voice and my throat hurts like hell. That wasn't helped by my insane screaming when they announced us as the #4 seed. The atmosphere in that stadium was nothing short of incredible, and my pants got tight when the entire crown was chanting "We want Bama". Guess what, we fucking got them.

3) Ohio State vs. Alabama is literally what I have been dreaming for since Nick Saban has coached Alabama. It is finally, finally a fucking reality. I don't think I've been as excited for a game in my life, with the exception of the 02 (03) NC game when I was 12.

4) The committee came through. They held true to basically everything they said. I think they got it wrong last week, but they righted the ship this week and I think they got the 4 best teams in the country in there.

5) Last night was probably the best game we have ever played in the entirety of my life. My only fear is that we go into this Bama game too confident. Bama is NOT Wisconsin. Leaving points on the field like we did yesterday won't fly as well as it did yesterday.

6) Last but not least, GO BUCKS. For those going to the game, true envy. Be safe and have an awesome time.
