Have you cleaned the chain recently?

I used to use one of these brushes. Just hold it up there and spin the wheel. Flip the brush and do it one more time. For 10 bucks it really made the job less hassle.

yup love this thing! Thats the brush I was referring to, makes chain cleaning so much easier and quicker than my previous method

chain gets washed with the rest of the bike...when it rains

Isnt that why they have o-ring chains.

I put some chain lube on it occasionally so that the outside doesnt appear rusty but otherwise do nothing special. Just replace it a little more often. I'm too lazy to put that much effort into it when chains are cheap and easy to replace.

Learned that from commuting on a bicycle in all weather. :)
