I'm a newb

What is hot pitting?

Is it worthwhile to bring an easy-up canopy?

Is a full tank plus a 5 gallon can enough gas for the day?

I'm starting to gather stuff up, anticipation is building.

I fill my tank and take 2 gallons with me,5 extra should be enough.

Hot pitting is where your bike is pitted on the pit access lane.I guess that's how you describe it.

I've never done it but the advantage is you don't have to ride thru the pit area to get out onto the track.

Easy-up is a definite bring.I was under R1's until I bought my own.

Bring plenty of water(I bring Gatorade too)

And some food unless you want to buy food at the track.

Your helmet must be inspected and can't be anymore than 5 years old.

Damn! Look at Jeff!

Sounds like a seasoned track day whore now!

But like he has pointed out, a newer helmet I think Snell 2005 or newer approved, water/G-ade and some food for lunch, canopy is IMO a must as it keeps the sun off you and the bike as well as the r$#n at times, and a full tank with 5 gal. is plenty. Your bike should be in good general condition maintenance wise so you don't have any issues passing tech.

That's about it.

Only cuz I hang with you guys !

I'm not too sure about what safety wire requirements for "I"

We need an actual seasoned track rider for this one !

There are some additional things that need to be done for riding in I/A groups. Some min. safety wiring is needed, oil fill, oil drain, oil filter, rad. cap I think is good enough for I. If you're going to really get into it, caliper bolts, pad pin bolts, pinch bolts, front axle on top of previously listed things. Some guys will go the extra mile and do exhaust and hanger bolts, rear sprocket nuts, etc.

I'll need to do the oil drain, filter and rad. cap,

I already did the water wetter.

I am surprised that as tracked out as your bike is, that those things weren't done already. Mine is uber SW'd. The guy that had this one previously raced WERA and he had everything on it wired. I am pretty well set for racing once that day gets here.

I'm surprised too.

All that was done was the oil fill cap !

All of this is covered multiple times in the stickies at the top of this section too. There is actually a checklist, that for beginners would be highly suggested.

Do not inject common sense or login in this thread. That will get you taken off the HJ list. Big daddy.

Directly from the MotoSeries Owner:

Hello Jeff,

We do not have set rules for wiring in the Intermediate group, just the

removal of antifreeze.

We do recommend you wire your oil fill cap, oil filter, oil drain plug,

coolant drain plug, and coolant fill cap since these are the most common

places to develop leaks.

Thanks, Todd
