What does 5 minutes, a soldering iron and bordom equal?

A motorcycle garage door opener! Used a momentary push button from one of those "try me" LED lights at autozone, some speaker wire, a spare garage door opener I got for the gate at work and 5 minutes of time waiting for the soldering iron to heat up, the result is a discrete button which can be mounted in the cockpit while the module is under the seat or in the tail. Will be picking up a quick disconnect tomorrow but that will be the only expense and is more of a luxury haha.

I had this on the last three or four bikes I've owned. Haven't done it to the new bike yet. I mount the button on the dash, and mount the GD opener under the seat with velcro.

Quick tip: Use quick disconnects near the GD opener. This way you can remove it from the bike easily for when you need it elsewhere or to change the battery.

Quick disconnects are already on the shopping list. Any clever way to waterproof one of those while still keeping the ability do open it? Was gonna just toss it in a small ziplock.
Everyone knows my history and rain, and I never had a problem with it under my seat.

I have mine hooked to my horn button. I pull in, hit the horn and the wife pushes the garage door button in the house for me. If she is with me it is automatic, she just hops off and opens it.

Most expensive door opener ever! I bet you are still paying for it haha

You could actually wire it to the horn button. I have seen it wired to the high beem switch as well. Only disadvantage there is that your opener nattering drains whenever the high beem is on. Horn would be smarter, unless you come home when the neighbors are sleeping...

I tried to avoid night riding all together.

Or wire it to your high beam "passing" switch since no one ever uses that anyway.
