  1. I hope I'm not chiming in too late because who really reads past the first page. For any new people that are considering going to this event I would say that you shouldn't bother. This is a group of rude people that won't even acknowledge or speak to you even if they have known you for years. Bunch of uptight stuck up alcoholics riding around on their fast machines flipping people off. They aren't even ashamed of themselves and have several videos of it with no fucks given.

  2. Please don't take this personally, I like you. Fuck you. Forever your side of the aisle has belittled us as right winged gun nuts. That we were the problem. That if we would just let you do whatever you want everything would be ok. Turns out you folks are lunitics too. NOW all if a sudden you get it. Its not us, its the lunitics?

  4. He ain't lyin... From now on, I know to not respond to his posts that I like something - otherwise he eliminates all my questions/excuses and I find myself with new gear, etc. Not that it's a bad thing... it's just an expensive thing. lol

  5. Hey guys! My girlfriend and myself are having a barbecue at our place. The get together has a vague start time of 2PM on the 1st of July. Thats the Saturday before 4th of July. Happy to have anyone local stop by for a drink and a burger. I have no real end time, if its cool enough I will start a fire and probably be smoking cigars all day. We will be buying beer, soda and water. I believe I will be making sangria as well. I plan on grilling hotdogs, burgers and brauts. My girlfriend will be making vegetarian friendly things since shes a picky eater. So probably kebabs, mac and cheese and some other stuff! A handful of my local riding friends will be attending, so most likely we will be doing a bit of riding around town and some back roads before drinking. Im happy to have anyone over who would like to pop in for a bite to eat, a cold drink or smoke a cigar! PM me for the address and my number if interested!

  6. i been scourging the internet for some time for a lighter bike, but as always never knew exactly what i want just a general theme. This time was in double mind, a lighter bike with some off road prowess to experience some real adv rides vs a lighter bike which i can take to track to exp track days. After tons of reading was sure there was no one good answer. But after thinking a lot and realizing more and more when i see Dans ride reports etc, i am not made out for such ruthless manly man rides fighting bears off and sleeping on top of tree etc. I mean i struggled a lot of years to get here not to do these any more hehehe But some day i am gonna grow a pair again and jump into those. Thus choice was narrowed to lighter bike that i can push around with my puny little body strength and possibly load into a trailer. Plus reasonably comfortable for single long day rides. So SS bikes were out. I want to get to track days and experience and learn more stuff, at the same time extrapolate that to real world riding in streets where i will still be doing most miles. and this way i hope to bring in some balance to family and my personal vacation time by trailering bike around and if at all possible get one day of riding which definitely makes a big difference. And thus narrowed the results further. After all this wall of txt, final decision making process was as simple as forest gump.. just went to gap..rode a striple... went into my head database of "zillion bikes for sale at night".com .. remembered seeing a clean striple... texted him sunday ...today was my last off day for next 1 month almost... just went to see it....... My first challenge i put on myself was if i dont feel comfortable doing "trailering" stuff i wouldn't buy it. Went to uhaul to check it out, It turns out to be an easy walk in the park, and there by shattering all my hopes of walking away from this maddness. Next obstacle i put on my mind was, if its not clean as he described i am walking away ....went in ...just wanted to see if it was as clean as he said... coz the price was fair not a steal deal. Saw the guy, older gentlemen very professional..heated garage.. And it was cleeeean ... like @Al Z. Heimer care level. Looked better than some show room stuff i seen. Oil /Brake Fluids like clear water Didnt feel like beating up the guys price and effort he put into it. And ended up bringing it home. i guess i might as well just embrace who i am. Just a mad mad motoholic fuxer i guess lol ... Sad part is i was getting to know the feejer real well after around 5 k miles on it. Hopefully i get to keep both. I usually dont do more than one bike at a time. Second sad part is i kept myself away from track days due to the trailering woes and worries. Now i realize its not a big deal, i am going to be in big trouble soon. Especially with Nelson black top ready plus a mid ohio certificate in my pocket already ........ dddddayuuuum need to resist. First time using a trailer in my life/ like driving loading etc/ tie downs etc/ will be another month before i even get to ride it, i mean might not even get time to plate it the way schedule is looking like for next one month.

  16. STT novice is very well structured until lunch.. after lunch we let everyone loose assuming the morning went well.. we have 7-10 coaches out in Novice still helping with groups or individuals as needed or wanted / we will go back to groups if things get out of hand... we also will constantly rotate people in groups based on pace and skill or learning to maximize the learning and fun for all in each group. after lunch during the open track riding we allow students to apply their newly learned skills on their own or with lightly or heavily guided assistance as needed.

  19. Them's fighting words! I have an RF1200, loved it for the street. Better than the Bell I had before that. I bought a Corsair V last year and loved it. Unfortunately I can no longer wear that helmet as it's hit the ground. I liked the Arai so much I gave Mike even more of my money for a Corsair X. Haven't ridden with it yet but I expect it to be just as good as it's predecessor if not better. What I did notice is that the fit was better for me (with the Arai.) I have a pretty flat face and the Shoei stuck out from my face a fair bit. The Arai's stay closer to the front of my face and I like that. Different strokes for different folks. Go to a place like Iron Pony and try a bunch of stuff on. That's probably the fastest way to find what you like and what fits you best. Some people have issues with trying something on at the Pony but buying somewhere else, I am not one of those people as I pretty much strictly use @RidersDiscount for anything and everything motorcycle related now. As for wind noise, I wear earplugs so its relatively negligible. No, its a problem.

  21. I have both the GT-Air and the RF-1200. My first helmet was a Scorpion that wasn't doing me any favors. When I got the RF1200, it was worlds better (for me). There wasn't as much noise as the Scorpion, and the availability of a Transitions self-tinting shield was amazeballs. I was happy with it. Fast forward a year or two and being on a naked bike, the RF1200 wasn't doing it's job as it used to on my R6 (it was noisy & started giving me pressure on my forehead), I guess that tiny R6 windscreen actually does something?? A month or so ago I purchased the GT-Air from Riders Discount and once I went riding with it, I couldn't believe the difference from the RF1200. The GT-Air was quieter - probably in part because of the thicker padded chin curtain, which I haven't removed because I've read that this helps reduce wind noise within this particular helmet. I took it on my moto-camping adventure and had no issues with it at all. I have a completely naked bike, no tiny windscreen or anything. You've at least got a decent windscreen on the 650 but depending on how tall you are, the buffeting from it could hit you in a weird spot. My 650 seemed to hit me right in the helmet/visor/chin area, but that's because I'm freakishly tall. I like the GT-Air, but you've got fairings so the RF1200 might work for you. IMO, you can't really go wrong with Shoei (as long as it fits your melon).

  22. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Shoei or Arai helmets as long as the fit your head shape. My current helmet is a Shoei Neotec and my previous helmet was a Shoei Qwest (Replaced by the RF-SR now). Definitely see if you can try them on somewhere. Mike at @RidersDiscount can hook you up with an awesome deal on one.

  27. Haha That was a massive shift for you, coming straight from that dirt bike on steroids to this heavy truck, esp on a tight section of 164. I was having a ball with your bike since I felt like I was riding a unicycle sitting right on top of the gas tank and handle bars right there and light as a feather. It was major difference. If you wish we can do couple more switches starting with more clean straight twisties.

  32. Since it was the long way around to the Gap I'll toss this up. I left my daughters Monday morning and headed for the Gap. After biting the bullet and dealing with Atlanta traffic in the interest of time it was North Georgia back roads to Andrews North Carolina to look at a house. The further I went up the mountain the narrower the road got till it turned into large gravel and much steeper than I cared to venture. Bummer. The place had million dollar view. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/000-High-Top-Ln-Andrews-NC-28901/2094143493_zpid/?utm_source=email No way the wife would go for that. Then off to the Dragon. Blew past the store and took a break and had a chat at the overlook then blasted back to the store for a quick sandwich and drink. More back roads to Pickens SC. to visit some good friends. He is an F6B rider and she has a Spyder. They live in motorcycle road heaven. He rides that bike on the dark side and got 38k out of the first one. Says that once you get used to a few quirks handling is just fine. Yesterday was a long day. Banged out 650 miles and 6 states to get home from Pickens. Took some fantastic 2 lanes to Charleston West Virginia to slab it out the rest of the way. Dodged storms till eastern Kentucky then shit got real. Heavy rain, big wind and lightning. Experienced a lightning strike about 30 yards away when it hit either the tracks or rail cars that were next to the highway. No thanks. Was a good trip. Hated to come home but it was time. Like Tpoppa says no cops no drops. My thoughts on a Gen 2 FJR 1300. Needs 6th gear, needs cruise control, seat is atrocious, heat at the seat and your legs can get pretty uncomfortable lastly a speeding ticket just may be in your future. It is happy to cruise at 80 plus and handles pretty well in the twisty bits considering it's weight. Not sure if it is a keeper though. Some pics------

  34. i was looking online for those, looks like size 32 is the one to get for striple. but having bar end mirror might not work with it right? haha that was a good reason. that road was super smooth and clean. My worry is ohio roads not gonna be like that. Its the uneven payment and me getting jolted around in a lighter bike that made me love big heavy bikes since they felt more planted and stable. In time will see with proper suspender setting if this guy will behave. i am pretty sure you were sure that i was gonna end up pulling the trigger even @Hellmutt was asking about it. I guess no body thought i was crazy to pull the trigger within 24 freaking hours of touching base station. another thing is i was pretty beat up by the end of the day, dont know if it was all the travel and sleepless nights or the "wind jammer effect" of naked bike i understand, i used to feel so guilty and down after purchase thinking of how much lack of willpower i have to resist the dark temptation of lust and gluttony for motos. But now it has been happening so often that i am comfortably numb. Classic flowchart followed by addicts for some reason it makes me really feel good to see you come out of shadows to say this was a borderline good mad call

  35. Thanks Tim for putting this together and all of you for sharing this trip with me. Going to chill for a few days at my daughter's home in Sharpsburg Ga. Took mostly backroads to get here after I left Barber. Hope you Ozark Boys have a safe and good time on the rest of your trip.
