  1. It's hard to imagine that drivers education classes are worse than when I took mine (Ohio public school course) in 1974 but they must be based on the evidence. We should find out how Germany is educating their drivers do the same.
  2. Those speeds are simply uncalled for (unless there's a corner involved).
  3. I wonder how the coverage will be on BeIN sports. They have a 5 hour time slot for Phillip Island World Superbike tonight starting at 7:30. Speed channel left a lot to of room for improvement with their 1 hour time slot & all the commercials. I'm looking forward to this.
  4. Welcome. Thick skinned left wingers get along here just fine.
  5. Arai seem to have helmets that fit my head the best. Go for best fit for your head regardless of brand. Wear ear plugs for all riding, not just at the track. No helmet is quiet enough to prevent hearing loss over time. Wind noise is high frequency, thus deceptive & damaging. Sermon complete.
  6. Get & use a Bentley's shop manual & a torque wrench. Then, just get the tools you need when you need them. Also, you don't need a machine to mount & balance tires. I've been doing it for years. Good luck.
  7. I traded my liter bike for my nephew's softail springer for about 30 miles of WV route 16 one time. It wasn't exactly relaxing with the wooden brakes, excess weight, & hard parts that scrape so easy. I guess I'm not laid back enough to appreciate a Harley. My nephew rides a Bull now & says that it is socially acceptable in Harley circles. I hope you end up liking whatever you get.
  8. $50 is still a bargain thanks to the State kicking in the balance.

    Sup again

Welcome back. The new 300 should be a fun ride.

    Hi

Welcome. In response to your initial question; Semi spirited twistys & commuting for me. Also going to do a few more track days this year. How 'bout you?
  11. I would venture a guess that the underlying medium compound on the edge of the rear is never in direct contact with the pavement during the normal life of the tire.
  12. Snow machines are a blast. Haven't ridden one in a long long time though. I'll never forget learning to carve a turn on one. I used to work as a snow maker in ski country & got to ride on a daily (nightly) basis & get paid for it.

Thank the Lord they weren't riding ass slugs.
  14. I think our mailman is years ahead of the curve on the Saturday non-delivery. Saturdays are always real light & Mondays are real heavy. Doesn't bother me in the least.

    Squid time!

100 mph unicycle emulation right in front of Leo. Didn't notice him until I sat the front wheel down & he lit up my mirrors. $154, 4 points.

    Why yes it is. Cheers.
  17. I'm 54 & did my 1st track day when I was 51. I plan on doing a few this summer. It's real fun & educational too. You will be glad you did.
  18. Once. What started out as a nice clear night turned into 2 inches on the road before I got back from a 40 mile ride. It's alright until your lean angle exceeds about 2 degrees, then the puckering starts. This is the only time on a street bike. I used to take my enduro out in the back 40 in deep snow just to slide around &I throw some rooster tails.

I went yesterday. I went to see the new Hypermotard but was disappointed to find that it was designed for little people. It was fun to look at all the other bikes, sit on a few, & speak with some of the booth attendants. I will be going again next year to see the new Super Duke 1290. It helps that the IX center is only a 10 minute drive for me.
  20. What a fool! There is no way that guy can react in time to avoid a collision when one of the drivers does something unexpected. Notice I that said when, not if. He's also quite the tool for his treatment of other motorcyclists.
  21. Road conditions just after winter is over usually aren't the greatest. It looks like a nice route though. I was on WV 20 & 250 last August & September & found them to be a lot of fun. Be really careful on OH 536 as it has some tricky stuff & dodgy pavement/gravel. OH 255 is the same type of tight stuff but usually nicer than 536. OH 9 is usually fine. Have fun.

I'll be there with my wife at 9am on Saturday. The unwashed masses usually don't start filling the place up until about 11:30 or so. It's a good place to be for motorcyclists on a cold day in January. It's pretty much the only motorcycle show in Ohio that isn't predominantly pirate.
  23. Take it out for a ride today. That should take care of the rust. Wash it as soon as it cools down when you come back.

    Wow BMW!

No thanks. If I was ever to waste $35k on a motorcycle that wouldn't be the one.
