  1. What would your take on this be if the teacher was of a faith other than Christian (let's say Islam) & your kid was in her class? It's the same difference. Separation of Church & State is a good thing even if your favorite brand of religion gets its toes stepped on every now & then.
  2. Those cold roads stayed damp a lot longer than I thought they would. I only went local for a short putt & the roads were still damp at 3:30. Oh well, it is January.
  3. If you want a few curves with low police presence on the west side find West River Road (north of Valley City). I'll probably be heading out for Millersburg & points south for several hours tomorrow myself.
  4. Tim. Are you in Dublin, Ohio or Dublin on the emerald isle?
  5. The roads are always safe enough to ride. Safety is more a function of the nut that connects the handlebars to the seat.
  6. To some it's the technical quality of the roads, to others it's the scenery. Depends on who's making the comparison doesn't it?
  7. Rode today, riding tomorrow, don't know about Friday (possible snow accumulation in the forecast).

    I Want Snow

Snow is nice at a ski resort. Otherwise it just sucks along with the accompanying salt.
  9. 37 degrees & raining this morning. I'm riding to work. When the salt goes down I'll quit for a while.
  10. Well stated. Futile here it seems.
  11. Does anybody have any photo evidence of the said damage that can occur from leaving oil that is not new in your bike over the winter?
  12. I had a Honda 50 as a kid. The one I had didn't have that fancy rear suspension business though. That little bike sure could handle some abuse.
  13. I'm thinking that something with about 821cc, 2 cylinders, & desmodromic valve actuation might make a pretty nice road bike.
  14. I already had changed out the oil that I sent for analysis. I just wanted to make sure that standardizing on a 4k interval was not likely to have any detrimental effects on my engine.
  15. 250cc is fine for commuting & urban. 1000cc is required for the backroads.
  16. I change oil & filter every 4k with Amsoil. The owners manual for both my Honda's says every 8k & the Ducati's says 7.5K. Oil turning dark is not an indication that it needs to be changed. The filter can only remove particulate matter down to a certain size. Oil is designed to hold the smaller particles in suspension without damaging the engine. I have sent my oil to Blackstone twice after the 4k change. This oil was always quite dark but the report came back saying that it would be ok to go farther on that oil. I ride my bikes once a month (6 weeks max) so I don't worry about seasonal oil changes.
  17. It's all perfectly clear to me now. I know a guy from Russia & I never knew how he learned (or not) to drive the way he does.
  18. Good luck to you in your future endeavors Niven. I hope to get out for a ride with you in April or May before you move.
  19. My trip to Coimbatore (India) was very interesting. I was however, very glad to return home. If you go there hire a driver to get you around. The traffic is a little different than what you are accustomed to if you learned to drive in the USA. I would ride a motorcycle there only if I had a death wish. The extreme contrast between the few wealthy & the many poor there really was an eye opener.
  20. I have twc & I'm not fond of it. It's ok till there is a problem. Then they systematically blame your modem & waste many hours of your time on the phone transferring you around before they actually come out & fix the problem with the trap.
  21. I'd love to ride down. Unfortunately my wife won't let me. Actually I have to use all my vacation time for 2013 on a trip to Hawaii. 2014?
