  1. Amsoil in my 1000, Mobil 1 (motorcycle spec) in my 250. K&N filters in both.
  2. My wife doesn't care to work on her bike so I do. I don't care to scrape wallpaper so she does. I am 100% ok with this.

Welcome to the Loonyville. My wife started riding when she was 45 & highly recommends that women ride their own ride. Good luck.
  4. The bike will automatically lean into the wind as required be it gusts or steady winds. The problem usually comes from interference from the rider who is nervous because of the wind & keeping too tight of grip on the bars. Some will tell you that you need an 800 lb SUV of a motorcycle to fight the wind when all you need is a light touch on the bars. No fight necessary. I've ridden in some pretty fierce gusts with no problems using this method.l
  5. Welcome. Hope to see you on some group rides this year. Sometimes we meet up at circle K at the intersection of sr 82 & sr 83 to ride south to the good stuff. Sometimes we meet up to ride to the meet spot for larger groups.
  6. Family day today. I'll catch up with you for a ride in the near future hopefully.
  7. Clean twisty roads near Pomeroy? I just ran Ohio route 377 from McConnelsville to Amesville & back twice today. It's pretty nice.
  8. I just put one on my 2008 & it was a 15 minute job. Make sure you get the kind that plugs into the diagnostic jack (on my bike its under the seat next to the battery). This type gives you pretty much instant readings. I hear that the other type that splice into the tacho/ speedo wiring have a bit of a delay in readout. Mine's a GI Pro made by Healtech & it works as advertised.
  9. You'll do alright. You might be surprised how your attitude changes as you get older. I know an 87 year old guy that still rides & doesn't do too bad of job. I think that bad younger drivers make worse older drivers and most bad younger riders quit while they're still ahead. Good luck.
  10. It's in the genes sonny boy. Look what you have to look forward to when you get to be your dad's age.
  11. So your 50ish dad is "old". So what you're really saying is "I'm still a little wet behind the ears & have a lot to learn". There are quite a few of us elderly on here that could school you quite well.
  12. Welcome. What part of Cleveland?
  13. Welcome to a fellow 250 rider.
  14. Welcome from a not so dreaded 53 year young sportbike rider.
  15. We know that! Just joined.
  16. My wife started out on a Suzuki S40 (650cc single cylinder mini cruiser). It was good to learn on with the low seat & low weight. Shes riding a Ducati 696 monster now.
  17. I get 65 to 70 mpg on the 250 & between 32 & 48 (average 38) on the 1000.
  18. Learn how to really relax on the bike. Drop your elbows & grip the bike with your legs. The bars are for control inputs only. If you are using the bars for anything else such as weight support it will cause you to make unintended control inputs. Always look where you want to go & scan far ahead enough that you can give yourself options. Always leave yourself a way out. Panic reactions are rarely good ones. Take the MSF course.
  19. CBR250R, braided ss brake lines & digital gear position indicator for the 1000rr, infrared point & shoot thermometer (curious about tire temps on cool days), drift hd170 helmet cam. Doing what I can for the economy.
  20. It is fuel injected. That, 60-70 mpg, 16k mile valve adjust interval, & miniscule pricetag were all factors in my decision to buy. I had it out today on our most reasonable facsimile of a twisty road here (West River Road to Valley City) & the little guy turns in nice & quick & can carry some pretty good corner speed. 24 RWHP doesnt exactly rocket you out of the corners so you better keep the speed up. I had fun though. I didn't get the abs version. I figured it would be added weight that I didn't need.
  21. Brought home a new baby brother for my CBR1000rr today. It seemed pretty pointless commuting on the 1000RR & I didn't want to give up commuting by bike so I got this CBR250R. Got it out in Toledo & rode it the 100 miles home. I think it should fit the bill for around town & to work & back. Might even be fun to flog through the twisties on occasion.
