Ive had a few car toys, but with bikes in garage-typically the cars just sit - so I sell 'em. Mostly now I buy cheap old Hondas or Toyotas, so I can spent the big money on cool bikes. No more sports cars.

I'm running the Qualifiers and thought they are pretty good. I would have no problems running the Q2's. -- I admit I would like to try the PPs as a comparison.

Dude - I'm more a Honda guy, never really consider a Zook or Kawi on my list. -- The cruiser/sportbike combination is a good way to go. Kinda like a ride for every mood. Then also 2 up is way better on the cruiser vs the track rack. - Baring that, you should ditch the RR and grab a VFR. It will burn twistys and still be fine for a long haul trip or every day commuting.

Congrats and welcome to riding. 2 hours is not a whole lot of experience on a motorcycle to be thinking about doing a trip. Please sign up for a MSF course and get some basic training. Also if you can bum some time on a dirt bike go for that. Riding is a skill and it takes time and practice to get anywhere near to being a decent rider. Keep a cool head and keep the rubber side down. Good luck.

Hey, that bike looks familiar. Nice find! -Your finding out why I'm addicted to viffers. - ---------- On the 5th gens, a lot of people find the suspension soft and thats the first upgrade to go. - Since you have a '98, the achilies heel of the thing is the R/R. Check to see if its the original one or its been replaced. Those suckers die at about 13 - 15k miles. Save your pennies for a replacement - it will crap out, guarenteed. Also, Its worth while to spend 40 bucks and get a upgrade hardness from this guy.. (UPDATED LINK ---- http://www.wiremybike.com/ --) He's kinda the VFR electrical guru. Congrats, feel free to PM me if you have any questions on the '98. I probly have changed, attacked damn near everything on the bike.

I'm obviously biased but grab a 5th gen vfr800 (98 - 01). It a great all around bike. Good for burning twists and then heading for West Virginia for a few days and then back without needing a chiropractor. Its got the gear driven cams so no hassles with the 6th gens sub par cam chain design and no extra tunning needed to smooth out and screw with the vtec. - The V4 sound with a pipe is incredible! Single sided swingarm is there to show off the wheel and it drops off in 5 minute with a lug wrench for tire changes. Engine is bullet proof. Wide mid range power with a good hit on top. If that isnt enuff for ya, there's a super charger kit out there that will boost it to 165hp. I have done quite a few mods, mostly with brakes and suspension - RC51 brakes with Traxxion Dynamics fork mods and have a Penske shock in the rear. NICE! Heres a pic....
