  1. I'll throw out some tidbits and thoughts for you - In my past life I was an automotive engineer and have some familiarity on plastics processes. -If you are talking about some molds, It would take someone with CAD experience to sit down and spend time on designing a functional mold. It would be made out of some kind of tool steel. - Lots of bucks. -- High 5 figures, maybe low 6 - Then the above mould would require a large press sized for the mold - more bucks. - If you were going to do body panels with a fiberglass impegnated resign, there is a style of that material used called "sheet molding compound: or SMC. It a big square of material to what ever size you would want, say the size of a top of a desk. You would set this flat sheet into a female mold and then mate up the male mold to it. Again it takes a big ass press to apply heat and pressure. - Plastic and paper garbage such as bottles, newpapers and other stuff are sold from the recyling centers to plastics vendors and they in turn sell that to big plastics makers. The major raw plastic makers in turn then add the recycle scrap to virgin plastic. So this blended raw material ends up in lots and lots of consumer products. (We bought a lot of it to use in auto instrument panels.) - In a utopia world, there would be enough recyled plastic material to use for all the new products that eveybody wants and needs. The fact is there just isnt enuff recycled plastic for all the new products that business want to make and people want to buy. So new raw plastic needs to be made. - Is this crazy? SMC is good for relatively simple curved shapes. Would it be good for a MC body panels? m'be - but I really doubt it would match the quality of OEM body panels. Fibreglas with recycled plastic bags and newpapers? That's probly not a good material for body stuff. (The aftermarket mc body panel industry is probly using some kind of spray lay up process I am not familiar with.) -(my experience is with product run in the tens of thousands.) ------Just my 2 cents, this is just stuff I picked up in working in production engineering (for way too long) -- Anybody else in the business , please chime in.
  2. That is a seriously cool RZ350. I would love to have one.
  3. Seat looks newish, so $200 is a fair price. - I'm on my 3rd one -no complaints (3 different bikes) - I've done 1800 miles on one, a multiday trip. Probly buy another for whatever next bike I try. There are other good ways to go, but I'm a creature of habit.
  4. 6th gen forks are 43mm and SH are 41mm. - wont fit....

  7. Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. Misdemeanor? (Goofy thread )
  8. 2 up, no gear, 100mph on an urban type road - stupid, stupid. -Prayers for them and their families.
  9. Hadnt heard it from that perspective, but it does seem from what I have read on other forums is that some people have a "Corbin" butt and others have a "Sargent" butt, and generally most people dont have both.
  10. Ive run Corbins on my VFRs and its the way to go. I have done 1800 mile trip on one and lots of 400- 500 mile day rides. - Plenty of people swear by the Sargent, but I have never tryed one. Not that i wouldnt but corbin has worked for me. I would be willing to hook up if you wanted to see mine and sit on it. If you wanted to try cheap, try the "great day" mod, I think Hoblick went that route.
  11. Um, dont think so. Mbe I should clarify. Looking for someone or shops that can take my rotor and brake parts, and chrome them or possible polish. I would like to brighten the rotor and brake plate as a minimum. (the rotor is a head scratcher ) (In the custom pics, all the brake parts are stock based) Who can do it?
  12. My cruiser is the other half of my riding style, number one bike is the VFR800. One to go fast, one to go slow... Anyhoo I am gradually polishing things on the bike and this go 'round since the rear tire is about shot and and the rear wheel has to come off, (its a shaftie and a PIA) -I thought I would detail some of the rear brake items. (I got the polish on the rear wheel covered.) I am looking for suggestions on polish or chrome of the rotor and then brake plate, and maybe the caliper. I have seen simular done on custom bikes, so I am out for ideas. Check my pics of the stocker stuff and then of the custom Valk. I dont want to go all out, just some brightening up that otherwise dull area. What do you think? Btw - I get up to C'bus once a week.
  13. I think the MV is the most georgeous looking sportbike on the planet, bar none. Totally beautiful. Bike lust to the max.
  14. As a backup you could go to tires unliimited off needmore - they charge 30 bucks for mount and balance, wheels off bike. They do a good job.
  15. Wow, that looks fun!!!!
  16. Original Honda polish and use a basic kitchen net type dish sponge. Its not abrasive enuff to scratch, but has enuff "edge" to work off the gunky stuff. Spray a layer of the polish on the problem spot and elbow grease the gunk off. It helps if the sponge is a tic damp too.
  17. I had a chinese chemistry teacher named "Itchy Wang"
