  1. I laugh when I can, but usually I'm surrounded by hundreds of morons white-knuckling their car at 5mph on 90. You know the ones, they usually drive with their hazards flashing thinking that's doing some sort of good.
  2. He's 17. The word "practical" hasn't entered his mindset. I can guarantee he'll say "I can afford that" to the insurance deterrant. You have to speak in dumbass to get through. Tell him only fat girls dig guys on Hayabusas. Show him a few pictures as evidence. Hot chics like guys with bikes the girl can actually ride on. Show him a picture of a hottie riding on the back of something like a Bonneville.
  3. Had what turned out to be an outstanding day Saturday. The frost made the morning interesting to say the least but things came around. I know I set some personal best times based on a chase video of me. I'll call that ending on a high note for the season. If I'm still living in Ohio next spring, I'll look forward to riding with everyone again!
  4. I assume the morning sessions will just be a bit slower than normal till the track warms up? I'm bringing a friend as well, solely so he can scare Kevin on his VTR250.
  5. So I'm dredging this one up since my friend with the VTR has done a couple days this season, and it sounds like the bike will be making an appearance this weekend at Nelson. I rode the bike at Beaver for one round in August and noticed the BT-45's on the thing went pretty out of balance above 85mph. It was bad enough that I would have to back off going down the back straight. Is this a phenomenon of bias ply tires in general? Are there better 16" tires on the market that would be more suitable for track use? I'm asking because at the same time, there's a 1990 VTR for sale in Marion that I may wish to pick up and race in the 250 class next year. I'd like to get some better rubber under the bike. The front on the 1990 VTR is a 17" (100/80-17) but I'm not sure about the rear.
  6. Get any tires that aren't BT20's. Riding with those things undermined any confidence I may have had in the bike. Cornering was terrifying at times!
  7. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem driving in snow. If anything I speed up. It's dealing with everyone else that seem to forget that it snows here, and panic-stomp their brakes at the mere site of a snowflake that is wearing on me. There's no reason it should take an hour to go 14 miles in to work! Get me on I-90 on the way to Holiday Valley and I'm in heaven.
  8. YES. Driving to work in it sucks the big one too. Snow is great on the slopes, but living with snow in the everyday is the worst!
  9. Everyone likes to be the expert, the critic, the leader. And nobody likes it when someone comes along with better evidence proving a different point or taking the attention. People really need to get out more. And get the fuck off of facebook. And I'll that to anyone in person!
  10. Don't forget intake manifold, throttle bodies, ignition system, and exhaust! However they do this, I'll be interested in watching. I think the idea is outstanding as there ought to be fewer moving parts than an I4 or V2. It should be more compact than an I4 and perhaps lighter than one and possibly lighter than a twin. And let's not forget the soundtrack! Seeing they made the XS750/850 years ago it isn't a surprise to hear they're trying the triple again. I just hope it's not mega pricy like Honda's rumored V4, and they have an equally good chassis to back it up. I'd love to see middleweight version too, or even a lightweight triple with good stuff on it. An I3 300cc bike with good brakes and suspension would be a blast! But I dream...
  11. I'm planning on being there for the trackday. I can't believe I haven't made it to Nelson yet this season. It's bizarre!
  12. It's not on their website or the printed schedule I got back in the winter, I guess it's another group?
  13. I'm not surprised. I figured this or it was an elderly. Someone needs to take this guy's balls. So surguries aside, will your nephew be able to walk?
  14. Wait, there's a twilight on the 12th? I don't know how I missed that one! I'm watching the weather for the 1st. If it's good, I'll take the day off. The 13th may be doable too, but I'll probably have to leave a little early since there's a concert that night that I'm going to. But the 12th...knowing that's going on may rearrange my schedule. Depending on weather, I could be at any one of those. I have yet to visit Nelson on good tires.
  15. That's funny, I get snubbed by scooters more than anyone! But lately I think it's the same guy snubbing me in the valley. I used to wave to everyone, now if I don't see at least a helmet I won't wave, regardless of make/model/style. Needless to say I don't get to wave much these days, except to the guy on the scooter that never waves back!
  16. So what is the "something" he slipped on your bike? And did you ride home with a "kick me" sign on your back?
  17. Holy crap that sucks, I'm sorry to hear. I wish him the best. If he's able to move, then that's a good sign. I hope things start looking up soon.
  18. I was having so much fun I forgot to ask about people's screennames, and it was great to meet so many people in person.
  19. I completely missed that post...obviously! I'll check it out when I get home, thanks for pointing that out.
  20. Any chance this stuff ever gets streamed on the internet? I don't have cable.
  21. So out of curiosity, where does the rest of the money go?
