I came across a truck in Groveport that I'd like to see this Sunday, but before I do I was hoping to get a set of eyes on it before I drive 2.5 hours to see it. If anyone is available, PM me and let me know. I can pay you for gas and time. The truck is a 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Hmm, that makes things easy. I think we'll try to get out there Friday night by 10-11.

I was going to post up the same thing but you beat me to it. I'll be going and a friend of mine should be joining as well for Saturday only. I tried calling Todd twice today to find out about gate closure Friday night, does anyone know how late I can arrive before I get shut out?

Looks good now! I was just giving you crap earlier anyway. I think we'll see some neat looking machines with more Ebikes coming onto the market.

Riding The Track...With Handlebars?
wantahertzdonut replied to wantahertzdonut's topic in Track is Crack
Marty- I'll try to hunt you down early on since I'll be after some pics. YSR- I guess you'll have that! Brian- Outstanding pic, tire smoke and all! I won't even attempt to do something like that, I don't want to lay this bike down! -
Don't know, could you post a smaller picture?

What the hell happened to Rossi? He bit it bigtime before the cork screw but never showed why. We were at the bar and had no sound, so if they said why he went down, I'd really like to know. From watching, he bit it like a Harley rider encountering a turn!

I made it out today to watch for a bit, I regret not being on the track but still had a great time seeing the show. I'm looking forward to BR next week! -
Riding The Track...With Handlebars?

I think I'll go for it in that case. I just need to make sure not to do something stupid like go full f'n throttle everywhere. I haven't been able to open the bike up anywhere yet and figured the track is as good as anywhere to do it. I'll ask around if there's any instructors running with handlebars and get some pointers. It's been a while since I've had any instruction and figure this is as good an excuse as there is. -
I'm thinking about bringing my Tuono to Beaverun on 8/4 with Motoseries. It's not very fun on the streets so I want to see how it feels in a more suitable environment. One hesitation I have however is I haven't ridden a bike on the track with big wide handlebars. I see guys on motards and other bikes with handlebars and it looks like both their body position and setup for turns is completely different from riders with clip-ons. Does anyone have any pointers on riding like this?

Any word on the rider that went down in the 2nd race in the afternoon Sunday? (I don't know the group's name, it was star-something I think) We were watching at the keyhole and a rider on a Ducati got into another rider entering the turn, got headshake, and took a hard hit to his head when he hit the ground. He wasn't moving afterward. It wasn't a pleasant site to say the least. It was the second crash in the same race in the same spot. This was my first time to the vintage race, it was a great time. Brian- I think we saw you running late in the day. You guys were very entertaining to watch.

Yikes, that's a bummer. I was just out that way the day prior too. I wonder what happened. Is that a 919 Hornet?

Planning A Ride: Dayton To Cleveland, The Long Way
wantahertzdonut replied to wantahertzdonut's topic in Daily Ride
So I had to do a complete change of plans, as it turns out I was leaving from Sydney and not Dayton. Since I didn't get to bed till 2am and slept in, I didn't have time to dip south before coming back home. I just wound up taking OH 47 to US33, then to OH 162, zig zagging a bit and getting on OH 60 which was wonderful except for the very close thunder booming overhead. Then it was on to 83N and had to slab it on 71 to get home by 4. I hope to make it back there this summer and ride some of the roads mentioned. I need to spend more time out that way! -
It's really no different is someone has a horse and buggy on the road. Bikes have the right to be on the road. As for taking the whole lane, I can't agree with that. Some riders do it in order to be a pain. I can't agree with it. Empty road? Have at it. Traffic behind you? Let them through. Everyone's happy, everyone gets where they need to, nobody gets mad. I don't get why people feel the need to stick a thorn in other people's sides. With that said, I have been an avid rider and raced through my teens. Mostly off road but some on road. I prefer dirt but it's not always available. As for what to buy, you can ride your mountain bike on pavement, but you can't ride your road bike in the woods. You can buy clothes, but I usually ride in jeans shorts and a t-shirt. I have proper clothes, but rarely wear them. Changing makes riding a process, so unless I'm going on a long ride, I prefer to just jump on my bike and go. If I'm driving to a trail, I'll dress. Get a Camelbak or some type of backpack bladder. It holds more water, doesn't get dirty, and you can wear it under your motorcycle gear too.

I'll check that out at lunchtime today. Thanks for the pointers, twisties sound great! -
Ahh ok. They did that to Abbyville Rd in Medina Co. recently, it's weird. How long is that stretch of 555? I was planning on including that on a ride this weekend.

I've stopped waving to anyone without at least a helmet. Those guys usually never wave back to me anyway. If they wave to me, I'll wave back, but I usually let them go. Needless to say, I don't do much waving these days! Too bad, I used to wave to everyone.

What exactly is chip seal? I've never heard that expression. Do you mean the tar sealer for cracks in the surface or cold patch asphalt for pot holes?

I'm going to Dayton this Saturday to meet up with my brother in law for a car race Saturday night, and I'll be riding solo back to Cleveland Sunday. I'm planning on taking the whole day and riding through parts of SE OH and was wondering if anyone had any particular suggestions. Is it worth riding along the river and taking some of the roads between there and Columbus or if I should just make a line straight east to the SE hills and then start making my way north? Oddly I haven't been much past Columbus except for interstate and I haven't been to any of the hills in years, so I'm not sure what to expect. Any good places to stop for food?

250 class w/ motoseries - how many bikes?
wantahertzdonut replied to redkow97's topic in Track is Crack
Hmm, cool. A friend of mine has an old Honda VTR250, I wonder how it would do? Also, would you be banned if you showed up with a grey market CBR250RR? -

Does anyone race bikes other than the baby Ninjas in this class? -
I think we've been alright here, but it's about 10deg hotter in the assembly/manufacturing area than it is in my lab. In any case, I'm trying to be careful and chugging water as usual. You should also get some electrolytes and shit. It's what crops crave.

I've been out and enjoying it. My office is cool but my lab is fairly hot with no a/c. It could be and has been worse out there. As for riding, I've rode every day for the last month or two except yesterday when I stopped to pick up a new suit for Beaverun this weekend. And the truck I'm borrowing to tow with doesn't have a/c. Oh well, I'll just have to drink more beer when I get home!
