  1. Go earlier and have a different mission. Definitely no longer a place to get deals, but so many bikes to check out. There weren't many people drinking at noon on Saturday, plus there were fewer people in the isles, the booth staff was fresh and willing to talk, it was easy to sit on bikes and take pictures, and you know you don't have to waste time at the kitch booths. The "destination" booths are nice (free maps to places you probably haven't visited) and I really enjoyed the craftsmanship of the custom bikes and vintage restorations. I also met a fellow CB77 owner in the VJMC pen and talked through a couple things I had been mulling over. I fell in love with a couple Bonnevilles but had to reject them because of no ABS - maybe next year. Ducati's Scrambler fits nice (kind of like a grown up Grom) but I can't believe they don't come with high-mounted mufflers. The new CB1100 keeps getting better and better but it doesn't fill a particular hole in my stable. HD's Livewire looks better in person than in a magazine and there was surprising curiosity from the pirate faithful. Zero wasn't there - that surprised me. If I wanted a Sportster class bike, the Bolt and Scout would make it a hard decision. Nice models from KTM and BMW. The Slingshot does nothing for me personally. I left without feeling like I had to buy anything - I'm still delighted with the three I have, but I enjoyed the window shopping.
  2. Ah yes, Infowars. They're just one step above the National Enquirer in entertainment value and news veracity. Or did they accidentally get something accurate by mistake? Alex Jones profits handsomely from tin foil conspiracy fear mongering, so I'm going to have to pass until someone reputable verifies the data.
  3. FWIW, another gun and knife show at Westland this weekend.
  4. Wojo72, PM me your contact details and your background - my company has an opening that you may be very interested in...
  5. Speaking of folders, I've been loving my SOG Flash 1 that I picked up a couple weeks ago. It is SO light (1.2 oz) that you forget you have it, uses an assisted deployment spring, has a deep carry clip has decent blade steel. Probably wouldn't freak a cop out either with its pocket knife-sized length. Anyone else have a favorite?
  6. Short article with marginal value, but I'd agree with the conclusion. If you rounded up all the bankers in North America, I bet you'd have a million or more people (240k from JP Morgan Chase alone). 36 deaths doesn't feel like a big number in that light.
  7. +1. I also take the ARC on every bike that's new-to-me to learn its particulars.
  8. That's pretty sweet. I got to taste the results of a JetBoil and REI packaged food last summer and they were really, really nice. That's smart. It's good to unpack and try out new camping gear before taking it further, if for no other reason than to be more practiced arriving after dusk, setting up in the dark.
  9. An old country song for inspiration: http://youtu.be/8f6Y0vD0_Vg
  10. Personally I'm grumpier than usual, but I'm not as miserable as during last year's winter, that... would... not... F'ing.... Die.
  11. Too funny! That would totally crack up kids riding in their parent's cars! I am SO tempted...
  12. Lost Puppy. Perfect term. I think you have it spot on.
  13. Welcome! Those Bolts look great. Ditto about the salt - spray that thing down right after riding until spring, to avoid early pitting under the deck. Ask me how I know. [emoji5]️
  14. No, true, you didn't, but the public absorbs movies more now as primary sources of reference. The Imitation Game was another movie recently that's outstanding, but has some important details wrong that'll confuse the crap out of people wanting to learn more from non-fiction sources.

Very nice, I'll probably bring my DL650 then.

What kind of bikes are y'all planning to take to the track? Especially those of you doing the Novice class?
