  1. Definitely. I have heard from inexperienced riders that believe the myth that a motorcycle can be turned strictly by leaning on it. The video Twist of the Wrist 2 has a really good demonstration regarding this issue.
  2. Myth no. 2 is always my favorite, because I hear it the most. Others: Ape Hangers give you more leverage for turns. A motorcycle can be turned simply by leaning to one side of the bike.
  3. Your mama is so fat that you need a 5 ' swing arm to get her to ride on back. And someone probably thought the needed wide load sign was for the turning radius.
  4. There is nothing worse than a parent having to bury their child. How sad.
  5. How about to look like a bad ass while running over Wolverines!
  6. If its too loud, your too old. Oops. I mean: if its too long, the rider is too much of a squid.
  7. I couldn't agree more. I bought a Nolan N104 a couple of years ago, and it has the Pinlock visor. I don't get a foggy visor ever.
  8. Why did he only get off 6 shots? Must be a revolver. Too bad both perpetrators didn't get what they deserve.
  9. Every time you have hope and trust in mankind, you get these kinds of stories.
  10. How do they compare to the PR3s?
  11. The real answer is the public employee unions are extremely politically connected and powerful. There will most likely be a minimal punishment, if any at all.
  12. The title "Thunder in the Smokies" is a good indicator of a bunch of riders that won't be able to ride it well. This is not type of rider that would get a speeding or reckless operations ticket (for excess speed). I would anticipate more DUI or reckless operation (unable to maintain lane, etc.) In fact these types of riders have saved me from getting speeding tickets on that stretch of road.
  13. I heard real men don't wear them sissy helmets. They wear black and orange bandannas. JK. My Concours doesn't have helmet locks. I put it in the Givi trunk. Though a normal helmet does fit in the side bags.
  14. If you want to fix the polar ice cap melt, slam an asteroid into the Gulf of Mexico. It worked last time.
  15. I think it is a BMW. The Connie's mirrors are separate from the fairing, and the Concours has faster acceleration.
  16. That is a nice car. When reading the title, I was expecting some Craigslist BS.
  17. It would be interesting to see how far the police cruiser traveled after the collision before it reached a complete stop. Frightening.
  18. I hope your friend makes a speedy and complete recovery.
  19. They probably needed to finish sending a text.
  20. Last weekend, I rode US33 past Spencer. I took SR 16 south to Gauley Bridge. I then headed east on US60 to Covington, VA. The route was in pretty good shape. There were some spots on SR 16 that my GPS said that the speed limit was 40. I don't know if they were or not, but there is no way I was riding that far and was going to go that slow. The roads and scenery around Gauley Bridge were awesome. The switch backs on US 60 going up the mountains have passing lanes, so you don't have to be patient or illegally pass slow vehicles. I will definitely ride there again. Next time I will probably bring a tent and do some camping. The area is nice, so there has to be more good roads around. Last year, I made a camping trip to Seneca Rocks in WV. From CBus you pretty much follow US33. That was also a good trip with a number of good roads in that area. Many of them were county roads that were in really good shape. You can also ride into Virginia with more good roads.
  21. I had a VTX 1800 for a few years. A good friend of mine had the VTX 1300, and I rode it a number times. What you describe above seems similar to my experiences. My friend and I could not believe that Honda did not put fuel injection on the original 1300s. It seems like it would run significantly better. The old VTX 1800s were fuel injected, and they were pretty fun to ride (if you don't mind dragging floorboards and highway boards in the twisties). I believe Honda's new 1300 cruisers are fuel injected and run stronger. With that said, the VTX 1300 & 1800 are very dependable, and there are lots of aftermarket parts. Enjoy the new ride.
