  1. This pretty much sums up what I wear. I have a pair of padded bicycle shorts that are a must for the cbr seat. My socks just cover my calf, not to my knees. I tried wearing the leather suit I have for an all day trip once. It was not terrible, but not as comfortable as the textile coat and pants. The other benefit of my textile jacket is that it has 3 different layers- zip out liner, mesh interior jacket, and a zip on textile outer layer. With adjusting my base layer I have worn it in 40-90 degree weather.
  2. I’d say that it’s charging fine at 14.44. The fact that it didn’t change with throttle would not alarm me either since things can be different based on the setup of the charging system I’d guess. Hopefully one of the guys who know bikes better mechanically than I will chime in with an idea.
  3. I had a cbr929 I picked up as a project once. It had a charging issue. I replaced the stator because it was fried. Bike still would only charge like 12.5 volts, so I replaced the RR. Still only charged at 12.5. I decided screw it and took the bike out for a 150 mile ride and it started to charge near 14 volts as it should. I did a lot of searching and found some people were discovering the magnets in the flywheels were weak or not working at all. They ended up replacing the flywheel along with the stator and RR to completely cure their problem. I suspect that was the issue with the bike I sold. Guy I sold it to contacted me and said he was having issues after he bought it. I responded and told him what I had done and informed him to check to see what the bike was charging at. He never got back to me. If I were in your shoes I’d start by checking what the battery is charging at. At idle I’d think it should be around 13 volts at least then increase as you increase throttle.

  5. I could not agree with you more. I know if I was in your shoes and felt healthy enough to ride I’d be doing it.
  6. @ricer1 awesome that you’re back in the saddle. Thanks for the report on the FZ10.
  7. Pitt is so much closer for me. 1.5 hrs away vs like 6hrs to Putnam. I think Mid-O is already like 2.5hrs.
  8. I bought 1 certificate for Mid O and I want to try Pitt once this year. I have a lot of days free just not necessarily liquid cash for track days. I hope to coordinate my day at Mid-O with you this time. Probably won’t be quite as fun as our street ride last year since we won’t be in the same class. I’m sure fun will still be had though.
  9. I’m a school teacher. Lots of days free for track days. ?
  10. From my daughter this morning
  11. ^^^ I second this. I had a buddy buy a vehicle from NY and got screwed. Do your homework. My buddy said he thought he was good, but in the end he was missing something and never could get the vehicle titled.
  12. Late night, early morning job. Or do it right in the middle of the day and act like there is nothing wrong with what you’re doing. Worse thing that could happen is someone could tell you “you can’t do that”.
  13. The whole apartment is on 4th floor? Got an elevator? Will it fit?
  14. Won’t fit in the apartment door?
  15. I have buddy that used to race quite a bit at Nelson Ledges back in the day and he seems to have some interest. I’ll talk to him again.
  16. Not all kids. I teach plenty of good kids. I would venture to say majority of the kids I teach are good kids. I’d guess there are 5-10% of the student population at my school that I’d rather not deal with.
  17. Sorry to ruin your day buddy. People can be cruel. Not sure my daughter eats lunch with the girl but I think she told me she’s heard about it. Lots of people out there thinking of themselves and not worrying about how they treat others or make them feel.
  18. Not saying it’s the only reason my daughter or myself got involved. I know looking back at myself in high school, however, I doubt I would have befriended the girl who was getting spit on. I would like to think if I saw somebody do that I would have put a stop to it, but doubt befriending them would have crossed my selfish 15 year old mind. I feel that’s were my daughter’s love for Jesus comes in. Never said this nor did I mean to come off that way. As I mentioned earlier there are multiple postings on here of people doing great things for others. What I do wonder is how 1 can think that following a teaching/religion/person that supports good morals can be a bad thing. For instance maybe if those that are spitting on this girl in lunch heard some extra teachings on loving their neighbors as themselves, they may have refrained from doing it. Maybe they still would have, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t have hurt for them to hear it.
  19. @what if you’re going to quote me how do you expect me to stay out of this thread? I thought we were friends. Jk This is a txt I received from my daughter today This girl obviously has it rough and kids are cruel. I’m not sure my daughter would have the compassion she has for her without her faith. I understand what you are saying Andy about people taking advantage of vulnerable people, but I would argue that is exactly what the students are doing to this girl who is getting spit on during lunch. My daughter has gone out of her comfort zone and tried to befriend this girl and it may just end up saving a life. I’d like to tell you it’s because I have done an amazing job raising my 15 year old daughter, but I think it’s more about her faith and love for Jesus than anything I’ve done. I disagree. If my daughter practiced her beliefs in private this girl may have never reached out to her. I believe you said it or someone else did in this thread, it’s comforting to know someone is looking out for you. That to me is part of the good news/gospel about Jesus. He already looked out for us before we even knew him.
  20. I’ve been trying to stay out of this thread, but don’t want @Blitz to feel as though he is the only one that feels the way he does. I personally am not versed in all religions. I can only speak of my own experience as a Christian. I grew up not attending church and picking on the neighbor girl about attending church. Then I started dating her cousin(small town)at the age of 19. I started to attend church with this girl who is now my wife. It was not church that necessarily won me over, however, it was her family and the way they cared for each other as well as those outside of their family. If you have never felt or witnessed Christian love I would tell you, you are probably missing out. There is a difference in my experience. I feel my parents love and care for me, but it’s different than my in-laws. I get what some of you are saying about not needing religion to be a good person. Some of you do a lot for others and help folks out you hardly even know. I also understand that some of you have had Christians treat you not so good, and I’m sorry for that. I would tell you a couple of things on that point. Christian is not the definition of a perfect person, and my guess is that as Jamie mentioned that person was probably doing it wrong. What Christianity has done for me, is taught me to put myself aside and care for others. I’m an only child and definitely needed some help in the selfish category. Truth be told I’m still a work in progress there, but well beyond where I was and where I’d be without Christ in my life. Being a Christian has also taught me to be more of a giving person, again not just thinking of myself. I have also seen Christianity have a huge impact in my children’s lives. I have 2 teenage daughters who are awesome people that I enjoy being around. Both of whom are very carrying young ladies and are well thought of by both their peers and adults. My oldest was paid one of the greatest compliments a coach could give I believe. At the end of the volleyball season team banquet her coach said she was a coach’s dream because she was so coach able. She listens and respects authority(something her dad needs to work on with the idea of speed limits-conversation for another time). Guys I’m not saying I have all the answers. I do feel I have been blessed and I agree with Jamie that we are not here by just some random chance. The other thing I look at is that if I am wrong am I really missing out by living my life as a Christian. Then again what if I am right. Jamie thanks for the reminders of what a Christian should be in those scriptures you quoted. That love your enemies is always a tough one for a guy that used to be all about don’t get mad, get even.
  21. I took the day off so I could take my daughter to get her braces removed this morning. After dropping her off at school I took advantage of the 60° day. Took the bike out for about a 150 mile run. I also discovered I’m actually going to have to pull my quad back apart because it is leaking again at the base gasket. I’m hoping a new base gasket will cure the problem.
  22. ^^^ at least paint that stuff, maybe smooth it up while you’re at it
  23. Took the kfx450(quad) out for a putt putt ride after rebuilding it. Everything seems ok. I had it all back together on Wednesday but it was seeping coolant at the base gasket. Tore it back down Thursday. Friday I reassembled it and added some 3bond on the coolant bump out where it was leaking waited until Sunday to add fluids. Test fired it Sunday and then rode it today. So far no leaks and no known issues. Hopefully I’m done wrenching on it for awhile. Originally had to tear it down because of a busted tranny gear. Of course as I worked my way there I found need for a new piston and rings, cylinder recoated, new valves, also replaced the broken swingarm and some other minor repairs. Hopefully it all holds together and runs like a champ once I get it broke in.
