  1. Someone's got a $400 Cavalier for sale in the Corral.
  2. At least you've got me beat. I only bring 90hp/86ft lbs to the table.
  3. I'm going to roll out on the Buell if the weather holds up. It looks pretty dark in Delaware right now. Not sure if I'm going to bother dynoing b/c I think it's due for plugs and I don't have a long-armed midget that's required to reach the rear plug. I'd like to see 100+ HP.
  4. +1 Dumb question probably, but since I don't see it listed - Did you swap the fuel pump to one designed for EFI?
  5. Mad face is angry about your use of the word "cdheck".
  6. Exactly. In my case I tried out several of the shoes at IP and decided that all of the shoes that seemed to provide the support I wanted were pretty "flashy" and really didn't offer much more flexibility off the bike than a good pair of light boots. So I went the with boots, but different people have different feet so it's probably a good idea to try out a bunch of different options - especially since some of those shoes are pretty damn expensive.
  7. I always wear boots. I like them for support/traction but it's also nice to have something guarding my shins from rocks and other debris. I had trouble shifting on the Buell at first because my other boots were a little thick but I swapped on some lower pegs and adjusted the shifter location a bit and it's just fine now. I used to wear Rocky Alphas but I got tired of lacing them so I went to Bates Ultralight side-zips and they're great. I like that they are supportive but not super heavy and comfortable enough to wear around work and such all day. Also I like that they look just like normal boots really so I don't feel I look like a douche wearing them around when I'm not on the bike (no more than usual anyway ). They have a nice "built-up" area in front of the heel on the bottom so that they don't snag on my pegs much either. Bates Ultra-lites: http://www.copquest.com/47-1000.htm Although you can get them at Anderson's or similar stores locally for about the same money (~$80).
  8. Maybe I messed something, but I didn't take the original post to be about bashing anyone's tuning skills, just typical promotional stuff I would expect from any shop like "Hey look at the sweet gains we made here over another unknown tune, obviously we know what we're doing". In a later post it seems like they're intentionally trying to keep everyone from turning it into an accusational post, even though it appears Thorne has taken it that way. I didn't see anything saying the prior tuner is a hack or making any sort of attacks like "Thore are dumb and can't toonz - Lite Wate!", it looks just like any of their other posts simply showing nice gains and what they have done to it. I see that several posts are edited, so maybe I'm just missing something, but from what I see posted currently I don't understand why the big public defense case was started when from what I see there was no accusation. Perhaps somethign was said on another forum? No one here would probably even know that Thorne had tuned the car until he said so. I can unserstand being passionate about it when you're involved but maybe this place would be a bit more civil if everyone didn't take what is said (or not said) on the internets so seriously.
  9. That is exactly what I'm thinking. Based on some prior shady business I already scrutinize the shit out of anything I'm told by car salesmen, but if the guy has no problem being shady with someone else and even tells you about it I'd probably walk instantly. You can expect to be treated with the same dishonestly. And what happens if this thing turns out to be too good to be true and all you have to rely on is this douche and his shady business partners to make it right? It's easy to let too many little things slide when you really want something then you can end up regretting it later.
  10. I definitely still like the sound of the Rotax better than most, just not as well as the XB. Even at 108ish hp it still has all the HP I need anyway, 140+ would be wasted on me. I'd definitely consider one if I was going racing though. My neighbor traded his XB for an 1125 when they came out for that very reason (racing).
  11. I'm not sure I have ever owned anything worth stealing, so I should be in good shape.
  12. The 1125Rs are a good bit faster, but I was dissapointed with the sound of the Rotax... although it's not all about sound.
  13. Maybe one of these...? $43 isn't exactly cheap, but you can probably pick one up quickly. http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynatech/329/60-912300S/10002/-1
  14. http://www.0-60mag.com/online/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/picture3.jpg
  15. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v691/twistedfocus/BuellSmall.jpg It's not so fast, but turns are no problem.
  16. I still have my certificate but when I went to renew they didn't even ask for it. they just checked the date on my Existing CHL to make sure it was within 30 days of expiration and that was it. This was in Delaware County, however.
  17. "What the fuck is the internet???" http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&oi=video_result&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dv2LpJAD5AqQ&ei=naBxSpnfKd2Btgen3qGNBA&usg=AFQjCNFcd3zIAEc07D2Ob9vXT_vKFA00Vg&sig2=An5lT4-juuyjzX-bm6hq_g
  18. Want! For those who've never had it, I wouldn't say it's the best beer out there but it's probably my favorite "cheaper" beer. I had gallons of the stuff while I was in Key West a couple of weeks ago. I always pick up a case or 2 when I go through PA, even though buying beer there in a pain in the balls. Now they just need to get it somewhere in Delaware. Maybe I should write a letter to BW3 and Hoggy's...
  19. I have noticed that myself lately. A lot of motorcyclists cruise up and down Sandusky here in Delaware in the summer and I'd say probably half or more of the ton of people I have seen riding this summer are without helmets or have them strapped to their bike and not their heads. I have seen more than one guy in shorts and sandals/flip flops too.
  20. That's what I'm thinking, except rougher shape and with piston power.
  21. What about kicking it old-school (Puerto Rican style) and doing a Mazda R100. They're real popular in PR because they're cheap, plentiful (there, not so much here though), light and RWD. A guy I used to work with brought one home to Ohio that ran low 10's on a very mild turbo rotary engine. Not sure how hard they are to find here though. Edit: I just looked up the weight. They're right at 2000 lbs dry. I would think you could easily hack another few hundred pounds off, maybe more if there's room in the budget for fiberglass parts.
  22. Smear grease on the front of the pads. Quiets them right down... Seriously though, if that car uses the type of caliper that has slider pins/bolts (and it likely does) you need to grease them with a good high temp grease now and then. At least each time you put new pads on, or they can get gummed up and may not slide on the pins freely causing them to drag lightly.
  23. With traditional 4wd (usually called part-time) you should only be using it on slippery surfaces such as grass, mud, dirt, gravel etc. where the tires will spin before binding the drivetrain. You typically want to be out of 4wd if making sharp turns on dry ground to avoid binding and the "hopping" you describe. With the 242 t-case you also have the option of Full-Time 4x4 that has an open center diff so that you don't have the associated bind on regular pavement. You could leave it engaged in full-time at all times if you wanted, hence the name (it's more like AWD).
  24. It's hard to beat the Cherokee for all-around usefulness. It has a great tow rating for an SUV, decent interior space with a fold flat seat (nearly) and they are great for getting around in inclement weather or camping trails etc. It's not going to haul as much big stuff as a truck but a Cherokee can tow 5000lbs, so toss in a cheap harbor freight trailer and you have a replacement for the bed of a truck. It's not always there like in a pickup, but you're not using it on a construction site.
  25. That's the way I see it also. I firmly believe that if you're going somewhere and intend to get hammered you need to leave the guns at home (and that's what I do) but also think that I should be allowed to carry into such an establishment if I choose, as long as I do so appropriately. Additionally, I feel that if a person is concerned about their well-being enough to be carrying in any establishment, they probably shouldn't be making a better victim of themselves by getting drunk anyway.
