  1. dust wise, if the car has been driven I wouldn't use one. Sitting still and just getting garage dust on them, I wouldn't use one unless you had a ceramic layer on it. Again, they don't make a car scratch resistant but they do help keep marring from such things at bay. Use nothing more than the weight of the brush. product wise, I don't have a recommendation as I don't use one. Instead, I waterless wash mine.
  2. Key to great looks, especially on black, is all in the polish and refinement of the finish. I state that as people seem to always be in search of what is going to yield them the best gloss and while coatings and waxes as Last Step Products (LSP's) are good and can add to it, the gloss is mostly in the polishing work done prior to sealing it in. Coating wise, no, what you're seeing in terms of hydrophobic and self cleaning ability is not hog-wash. You're welcome to stop by my place today as I'm not only coating an F150 (well worth the look-see regardless as it's bad-ass) but I can show you on any of my vehicles what a hydrophobic coating can do. Here's a short video of my car wearing one of the entry level GYEON coatings even and it's performing great. I test out all the products I use on my vehicles first before I use them on customer cars. When done, ask several here who now do this, you'll dry your vehicle with a leaf blower in less than 2 minutes. Josh and his Tesla can share what it's like and he parks his car outside as he doesn't have a garage. Eric is addicted to the Hydrophobic Result on his M5 Ben is a believer and a crazy man with a leaf blower now too. David has experienced the self cleaning and easy cleaning properties too. Don't spend $500 on bullshit facebook crap though. Stick to the major players of which there are several. I stick to both CarPro and GYEON Products. I'll let the many I've coated here chime in with how it works and they stay clean. Many already have in their respective threads. Again, no magic in staying clean longer, when a clear coat surface is fully leveled/corrected and then topped with a hydrophobic layer of coating, it's going to shed dirt and water far better than any average "wax job" that most people apply. They key to a coating though is no different than a wax or sealant, it's hydrophobic and self cleaning properties lie within the slick smooth contaminant and leveled out finish. If you park under a tree and let sap fall all over it, you have to remove that sap from the coating. Over time road grime and film will build up on a coating too. They aren't magical products that are 100% Teflon all the time. When I coat a vehicle, I also provide day-forward tips and tricks and some detail spray that will work to keep it perfect and super slick. The reason why coating applications can be costly isn't in the cost of the product themselves, it's in the prep/polishing/correction, etc. work. On black you especially want to have someone with experience though as otherwise you'll run into smudges and high spots everywhere. It's no secret why most of my details tend to be black or dark colored vehicles. It's tough to get them perfect and people don't like doing them for that reason. The key to removal without removing the coating and causing swirls is in the technique. That I can show you for day-forward. You're going to need to learn it as we're in Ohio and come spring, after a winter of muck, you'll need to do this step. Here too, I can show you on my wife's car as hers isn't entirely contaminant free as I've not had a chance to do hers for spring/summer 2019 yet. It's still fully coated, looks great, sheds water, etc. you will clearly see that, but it needs a refresh and clean up and if I do just one panel, you'll see that too. Hope the above helps. Check out Reflective Surfaces and my full portfolio there then text me if you want to stop by or have questions. I'll be in the garage working most of today. I'll leave you with a few thumbnails - click them for larger size of what black should look like when done right Again, many more in my portfolio section along with references. Reflection Shots off various panels of vehicles I've done
  3. Made a duplicate post so I'll fill it with some other good options in addition to my post below. Ceramic Wise: CarPro, GYEON, 22PLE are ones I use and like Sealant Wise: Polymer Net Shield. Closest to a coating in terms of performance. Lots a great choices though. Collinite 476 is the longest lasting traditional sealant. Finish Kare 1000P is excellent too, especially in summer Wax Wise: IMO nothing beats Wolfgang Fuzion. Pricey as fuck but it's amazing. Pinnacle Souveran Paste is the next best thing and close to the Fuzion results. Both are show car waxes that are solid products.
  4. I pay the YT Premium because all four of us consume so much of its content. Well worth the price to us. No commercials or ads at all. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  5. no violin playing for him after making the decision to drive that car in NYC. he must still be suffering from his injuries years back.
  6. I picked up a nice 34" curved LG at MicroCenter and love it. No need for two monitors when the super high resolution 34" size can fit 4-6 MS Word Pages across the monitor at full 100% zoom. Spreadsheets are a breeze too. YMMV but I love it. I did have to upgrade my graphics card but it was in need too.
  7. Agree. So far I've not found anything better. I'll work back with you to get that truck done for sure. BTW Erica's van turned out 85-90%. She was very pleased. I hope her husband, (Doug?)...can't recall, is as well. It was pretty bad. Rebar-meets 5yr old meets Gloss Black minivan.
  8. Not an option. So far Allshred over on Westbelt is a go. $30 for the first 5 boxes, $4 for each additional. Wednesdays 8-11am
  9. I have about 65 boxes total but will only have the ability to sort through and bring about 5 banker boxes at a time. What good places/recommendations do CR Peeps have on places that I can simply roll in with 5 boxes and not pay an arm and leg to simply have them shredded? Thanks!
  10. One of my coworkers in circleville lost their house too. [emoji21] Good news is our company kicked in and started up a great go fund me page to help out and with over 6000 co workers support and ability to offer time off days they should pull through okay. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  11. Looks great man! I texted you that you're on for the 14th

  13. That's also in part to how new hires see things as value. We have perhaps the best bonuses, retirement and benefits out there and our annual survey showed the majorly of new hires less than 3 years in saw little value in them vs higher pay scale rates overall. Stupid no matter how one slices it bit if that's what people report back then it's no surprise when they get it what they asked for. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  14. I'll take the folding chairs and griots polisher stuff. I'll text you. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks Clay! Haha on the hat too. The cabinets aren't heavy duty stuff but I don't have much heavy stuff in them. Picked them up at The Anderson's when they were clearing everything out. $25ea and I took the last 6 they had. I simply put up the Rubbermaid Track system, dropped in adjustable shelving and set them on the shelves so they can be easily moved. Thanks! It's not perfect but it's loads better than it was 1 year ago and 20x better than 2yrs ago. I can certainly do better with a custom workbench, etc. but maybe later. For now I wanted to use what I had without buying much new and get it done quickly as in days. Here are a couple update shots. One last corner back in the far right where my toolbox and bench are at to paint, etc. and then of course clean up as there's still a lot laying about to get to. My wife busts my chops because I spend the evenings out there working on it but it's not easy when it's just one person and I don't think she gets that. Very time consuming work not difficult or hard. Installed a nice 4k LG 55" Smart TV. Micro Center had them on sale and the guy there was "dealing" as this and the Sonos made for a nice sale for him in like 5 minutes. Instead of adding a fully adjustable fan up near the ceiling (pricey little guys), I picked up a larger Vornado that is fully adjustable and can be moved easily. Works amazingly well. I had it pointed straight up and it definitely circulates the entire garage. I decided to hold off on the wall mount for the Sonos Play 5 for now. Let's see how things turn out and if it's even needed. For now it's up on the cabinet and sounds amazing like the rest of their stuff. It hits as hard and goes as loud as the old 12" Cerwin's it replaced. Two of them would definitely be overkill......but I will likely add another at some point I moved my shop vac over to this wall for easier access and it's up out of the way and flush enough so it's not in the way. Had to dress up the walls with silly banners until I find something better. I like them as they serve as a good reflections for detail shots inside. Not my favorite layout but it works and that's what counts for now. obligatory car-shot after I wiped off the never ending pollen. One last corner and part of a wall to go then onto putting stuff away. For now, off to enjoy the holiday weekend!
  16. Wish I would have seen this earlier today. Just put up a 55" LG for my garage. [emoji31] Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  17. For the past week or so after work and into the nights I've been re-painting and organizing the garage. It's been a while, nearly 22yrs, since the last re-paint and it was in need of a full clean up. Things are slowly coming along. Two coats of pure white ceiling paint, two coats of Gravity Gray on the walls, two layers of dark grey floor paint on the single layer of exposed foundation block that runs the perimeter and did the same on the entry door which I trimmed out in white. The floor itself is due later this summer but will get done. Here are some preliminary under construction pics. Lots of little things in these pics have yet to be put away/organized but it conveys the goals and accomplishments thus far. The back left corner is going to be home to a 55" flat screen smart TV with cable run to it. It will have a streamlined cable run for the HDMI and power as I'm not going to bury them in the wall (yet) but perhaps I will should this remain in this configuration. I also plan to have a Sonos Play 5 out here. Maybe two but I'm not sure I'll need a "stereo" effect just yet. We have the entire house done in sonos and it's an amazing system so why not in the garage too Lastly, I'm going to mount an adjustable fan up on the wall/corner area too. TV install first but the fan I want will be adjustable up and down and side to side. My world is that of a typical suburban dad so I have to deal with lots more than just auto-related stuff in the garage. My goal however was to consolidate everything into the area behind my car/workbench. The top of the fridge will eventually be clear outside home to the cable box. The freezer next to it too. The back of my workbench will be home to a charging station for several items as I'm consolidating the bins of bits and pieces more than they are now. The bicycle area is something that takes up a lot of room but we use them and with kids it's a must. You'll notice I painted the back side of plexiglass the same color as the wall then mounted it to the wall with heavy duty mounting tape. This way the tires from the bikes won't scuff or mess up the finish there. One piece up top and one below for the rear tires. I have to finish this over the weekend as I need one more section for the last bike on the far right. My flags will continue to serve as cover for shelving that hides more "stuff" Lastly, since the wall by my wife's car doesn't have a bump-out, I'd like to keep it clear and perhaps use it to color up the garage. I also may move my canister vac away from the mower/bike area and put it near the front of the garage by my wife's car as it is low profile and will allow me to have better access to it given it won't be blocked by a bicycle or have a lawn mower in it's way. Haha! Otherwise though I'm digging the clean look of it all.

  19. Meh....the performance is good but that CUE system sucks balls so badly you'd hate in a day let alone after months of owning and it. Needs wheels and a drop..... better grill too. I posted this back in the day as I was looking at building this exact look and color Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  20. You're welcome sir. I recommend carpro reset as the best wash out there. 1oz to 5gals will make super slick foamy wash. Stop by and I'll address the back bumper that tends to mar up over time . The iron deposits too. Easy enough to address both while we chat and enjoy a refreshing beverage [emoji106] Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

That's great news Chris!!! Thanks for this update. I was really beginning to think it was not looking good. Especially with all the hesitancy on the part of the doctors. So glad to hear and an honest LOL moment picturing how that all probably went down. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  22. I have the same issues. Haven't picked up a camera for actually enjoyment and use for years. I've become a cell phone dad with thousands of camera dollars sitting idle. Lots of other things ebb and flow up and down based on the tasks at hand and my time available. If you need someone to enjoy that car just let me know Let's start by parking over hear for a clean up first.
  23. Enjoy the speakers my friend. Thanks again. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  24. In the midst of re-doing my entire garage set up and need these to go: 12" Cerwin Vega VS1 Vintage Floor Speakers: These were my collage speakers back in the early 90's and still perform like they did back then. There are some nicks and blemishes as they have been solid performers in my garage for the last 20 years. The speakers go online for upwards of $200-$400 or more per pair. I want them gone for space reason and if you can get them today/Sunday you can have them both for CR Price $125 I also have an Onkyo TX-DS777 receiver. Can't remember when I bought it new but this unit is near flawless, has the original remote in great condition and powers the above to the point it will rattle the walls in my house while detailing cars. CR Price $125 Buy both of the above and I'll throw in a great BlueTooth Adapter that allows for easy streaming of music to the above at No Charge. Call or text me as I'll be working in the garage again today and not online much. Tim 614-795-4907 cell
