  1. that would be amazing. And it might actually make some money. I am not going to pretend that I know all the costs associated with insurance, etc., but a kart track is really just a scaled-down race track with lower speeds, and less maintenance... I think you have to maintain a rental fleet to make money, but if you aren't insistent upon making them all look like miniature Ferraris, they wouldn't be oppressively expensive.
  2. I'm hesitant to run with this rumor, but assuming it's accurate, I would still find it hard to believe that a Ferrari dealership has the juice to purchase and repave the track. I would imagine their primary use for it would be for test drives and then use it as a playground for people who actually make a purchase. "1 year of free membership to our exclusive track club." It would probably be a good way to sell some cars, but it doesn't seem like a cost-effective measure unless the track is generating some income beyond just boosting sales. So do i see it going "private?" Not completely. Will a car dealership/club jack up prices and book all the weekend dates? That's more likely. I would still expect to be able to work something out for weekday track days, but yeah, Todd might be left out in the cold for weekend dates - unless the car guys are cool and find bikes amusing.
  3. Isn't it a better option than not carrying?
  4. if the weight is that big of an issue, leave a couple of rounds out and carry a spare magazine in your hip pocket... I am also quickly learning that holster choice is huge when it comes to comfort of carry. I'm really close to buying an alien gear cloak tuck 2 or 3. Can't find a bad review of either.
  5. Put me on the list of people who didn't love the bodyguard 380. I shot it back-to-back with and LCP at the range, and the LCP just suits me better. I can't say that it's a better firearm, but for me, the LCP was more forgiving. YMMV.
  6. That's very standard language that usually makes its way into every single decision. Could have been left in by mistake - or not. The judge would have to explain it to be sure.
  7. I was led to believe that's bad for it... And upon further review, I think it is the 43 that we were discussing: http://www.shootingtimes.com/first-look/glock-43-single-stack-9mm/
  8. ha - that's probably a screw-up by whoever wrote the judgment entry, but the judge just signed it without noticing. One of our magistrates has the same first name as me, and he once signed an entry listing ME as magistrate. The appellant is the party who filed the appeal. The appellee is whoever responded. IF that is correctly stated, and not an oversight, then it sounds like the party who filed the appeal has been ordered to pay the costs of the party who responded.
  9. Bad, you mean the 43? or am i mixing up my Glock numbers? I have been at the range 4 times with the PF-9, and honestly, this last time, I didn't notice the recoil a bit. I DO have a pronounced flinch from it though. I literally dipped the barrel down and left so severely that I caught myself doing it before i got the round off... The result (for me) was that m y first shot is decent, then i anticipate the recoil on the second shot and drop it waaaaay low, then i realize what I'm doing and I'm fine on the next 6 shots, and the mag is empty. I literally put 7/8 into the head of the bad guy, and dropped the second shot into his elbow. I believe that more consistent shooting (1-2 times a month) will remedy that. I'm also planning to pick up a M&P 22 so that I get a lot of recoil-free shots in, and then sort of forget that the 9mm snaps more.
  10. I don't know anyone who doesn't like their LCP, but some shoot better than others. Like anything that size, it's not super fun to shoot... Hold an LC9 before you buy an LCP though. LC9 might be what eventually replaces my kel-tec. But to elaborate on the LCP, i have shot 2 or 3 of them. It's light and easy to conceal, so carrying it is more likely to happen. that's a big plus. That said, it's a pocket .380... Accuracy is acceptable for what it is. Reliability seems good if you're consistent with ammo. I went with a 9mm for that reason.
  11. yeah, i think we booked a ski house, but i honestly don't think we'll have the weather to actually ski. My knees don't like skiing anymore anyway...
  12. ride motorcycle to buy truck, load motorcycle in truck, drive truck home
  13. damnit. I'm strongly considering an M&P 22, and this would nicely compliment it... why do people sell things right around Christmas??? The wife and i just bought each other a new mattress.
  14. the two people with the strongest opinions on motorcycle handling have never been on a race track.
  15. For your stated purpose, i think they're both very expensive. between the two, i like the Yamaha.
  16. Josh and his family run a kart track http://herrincompound.com/

    Got the Tesla!

It won't be an issue when every car on the road is self-driving as well. I am not surprised this is happening, just how it's happening. I hadn't expected lane-marker detection from the manufacturers. I thought we'd see magnetic markers embedded in roads, and then the car companies would just settle on a universal system for detecting whatever marker the government decided to use.
  18. also, random question, but do you drive a Ford Ranger with a bunch of racing decals on the back window?
  19. I'm going to ride minis at Herrin's in January. You're welcome to hitch a ride. They have rental bikes.
  20. Whether that's a quality safe or not, had it been secured to a wall and not been pushed flat on its back, would those guys have been able to pry it open as easily?
  21. whatever you end up with, make sure it's properly secured to a wall. These guys show how easy it is to get into a safe when they can apply body-weight leverage. https://youtu.be/B8ViUdd-2LM
  22. the wife and i were in a mini-debate about Pearl Harbor yesterday during football games. I am embarrassed to acknowledge how little I knew about WWII. My dates were mostly right, and I am reasonably aware of the major events, but the whole "how did the war begin?" question was one I was woefully uneducated on. I can't figure out if I just wasn't paying attention in high school history (probable) or if they really neglected to teach us this stuff...
