  1. I wouldn't argue and say it's the products fault, especially when you are using a 3 generation old model. The improvements since the smh10 to the 30K are substantial. If you are really having a hard time keeping the mount stuck to your helmet, maybe consider something like jbweld for plastic. It certainly won't come off then, which I suppose could be an issue if you ever decide to upgrade. I love my SENA. Their customer service is horrendous, but the product is good.
  2. Here's a pic... They look like they fit, I don't know if the speakers are different between the 10 and the 20 or not... But these rock around and will come out... If I press them any harder I'd break them or dent the speaker itself... I don't blame sena or shoei, i just can't get a good fit unless I use the spacer they included... I could probably permanently mount them in with tape, I might try that before selling it
  3. S voice works great for me, the wake up command not so much, i too usually use the phone button. When i first got the Sena i had trouble with it dialing a couple names but i just had to tweak them. For example my wife's name is Becky and it had trouble identifying that so i changed it to Rebecca, and i used to have my mom's number in as "moms cell" and had to change that to her name, but no big deal.
  4. I gotta disagree. I got 130k on phones. Our whole 5k out west was on phone. 100 in texas, snow in Arizona and a monsoon in Tennessee. I am Bluetooth to the sena now, but with nav plus music I have never had it go dead. Was on ear buds before. Power to the phone on my handlebars and the bud cord run under the tank. Now I will say my fairing protects it pretty well. And most phones are at least waterproof now.
  5. No sir, I believe most of Sena's products allow multiple rider connectivity. The 20S is just the most modern and multi-functional unit. @swingset hopefully you get things sorted with yours. I've not had issues like you're having, but the base on mine has recently become quirpy where my left speaker doesn't function without me manipulating the unit on the base. Likely a bad connection, I need to clean the contacts on both to see if that's the culprit
  6. I've been using the Sena SMH10 for several years now and am very pleased with it. Clear intercom, phone and it integrates very well with my iPhone so I'm sure it would with an android. We get about 1/4 mile bike to bike range with it which is really nice. a full charge will last a 600 mile day using intercom and music. They have a new SM5 out which seems to do all you want and is even more affordable.
  7. John, I'd like to volunteer for Saturday. I've ridden a bicycle in pelotonia in the past, but this year I'd like to use one of my motorcycles to help out. I have a DR650 and a 1200GS; both bikes have carrying capacity for tools, tubes, water, etc. I'm certified in first aid, and I can change a bicycle tire. I also have a Sena 20s for communications. I'm friends with Scott, but don't hold that against me [emoji12]. Jeff
  8. Jim, that looks fine to me, I like it. Yep, that is still my phone #. I have to head to Dallas for work and I won't be back home until late Thursday. We can figure out exactly where to meet up and what time. Again, you (or anyone else) are welcome to stay the night here Wed night. Do you still have a Sena? Anyone else? @JustinNck1 @2talltim you heading down earlier with @Casper?
  9. Costs a lot of power to use bluetooth and GPS. Screen is a hog as well, but GPS is pretty bad because you're using processor, GPS antenna, mobile data and then bluetooth to transmit to your sena. This can be mitigated with offline maps, but only so far as data usage. I hope it works out for you, I'm not trying to shit in your oatmeal, I just have been using wireless charging since the note 3 and have a pretty good idea of its capabilities.
  10. Early on into my motorcycling career I noticed ear ringing. Looked into it, and found that wind noise inside a helmet can reach volumes in excess of 120 db. That's loud folks. Now, I'm uncomfortable riding even short distances without hearing protection. When Shannon and I got the Senas to communicate, I noticed I had a hard time hearing the speakers inside the helmet. So I've wired earbuds into the helmet to the Sena, and I use noise isolating foam tips that attach to most earbuds. They work great. They cancel just as much noise as ear plugs, and I have my wife hard wired into my brain for all two-up riding. I did a lot of research to find these foam tips. There are alternatives that cost more, but none of them are better. https://www.amazon.com/Rebound-Fidelity-Earphone-Earbud-Tips/dp/B01H6IEPDG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500571560&sr=8-1&keywords=earbud+foam+rebound
  11. Wife and I have used our pair of 20S for well over a year, and used them almost daily for months during our 30min commute to work together until she changed jobs elsewhere. Battery life is great on these. Plenty loud, but interstate has me struggling to hear at comfy levels with a Star helmet ( lots of airflow = poor audio ) unless I crank the volume way up. We rode all day long at the Gap, and neither unit ran out of power. We rode in a torrential downpour for a few hours solid on last years Gap trip however, and towards the end mine did get finicky. It would randomly voice prompt itself to do dumbshit, possibly low batt issue but I chalked it up as waterlogged. These pair up easily with SMH10's but haven't tried with anyone else of a different model Sena. 20S is state of the art, and glad we chose them for our first BT comm set. I dont see where anyone could be dissapointed with Sena products
  12. So it didn't work on my bike today but I did have to work on my helmet specifically my Sena 10U. Wednesday when me and the wife left for the bike night and grab my helmet off on my workbench and it was still plugged into the USB charger and I yank the son of a bitch hard. It pulled apart the entire battery pack and charger assembly. I got it the click back together before we left and powered it up and everything seemed to work fine but today when I went to plug it in and charge it it would not charge. So I took it apart to see what was going on and it obviously I had bent the charging port and pulled some terminals out of the circuit board. Did finally get it to charge with a little bit of soldering but not without having a clamp holding it together so thre is still a short some place. Filed a claim with Sena will see if they take care of me or not. Really they don't have to because it was my fault but I hope they do.
  13. I own a Sena 10R but have not been impressed. The App crashes everytime I try to connect to the device and it took a couple days on the last trip before we were able to figure out the correct button sequence to connect a 3-way intercom. Even then only 1 of the 3 of us knew how to do it and he wasn't really sure what he was doing. Based on reviews and my current limited experience I would probably get a Scala next time.
  14. I just sent my 10U back for the 2nd time. It is the biggest piece of shit that I have ever purchased. I offered to pay to switch it to the 20s, but they have refused. I may be purchasing another unit, so I can have something reliable (especially if mine is also stuck on back order). Sena's customer service is horrible. Like you, I purchased mine from Mike. Maybe, I should have asked him to help switch my units.
  15. That at least tells us that no sound is getting to the speakers vs a pairing issue with the phone. I'd double check the speaker cables, I recall there being connectors partway down the wire to aid in getting in and around the internals of my helmet, they may have come loose. I'd also try pulling the main unit off the clamp unit and checking for any bent pins, then re-seating it. The lights on the main unit can be on even if it's not fully connecting to the clamp unit. From there, I'd reach out to the Sena support team.
  16. Thanks for mentioning the track strip, it was installed after my "test" of the fit. I was pretty impressed with the bag and the visor sheath that comes with the Star as well. It will be nice to have that for transport to and from track days. Have a couple visors on the way as well One thing I just noticed, the chin seems a little closer than my other helmets, so my microphone for the Sena SMH5 may not play nicely. I'll have to figure out something for that if I want to use the Bell on the street.
  17. I had (have) a 103. It's a modular so it will be heavier and noisier but the convenience of the flip up is nice. What I found out was that Nolan tends to run more round than oval and it would cause a pressure point above my forehead. It wasn't too bad on shorter rides but after a few hours it would tend to become a distraction. I've since moved to a Qwest and like it much better. I have my Sena SMH-10 installed on it (as I also did on the Nolan) and like that combination.
  18. My Schuberth has Sena built in, but I use it for navigation and tunes..and sparingly. I do not communicate with other riders via electronics. I find that to be a distraction. Everyone I ride with is going the same direction I am and usually at the same pace. If I need to talk to someone, it can wait until the next stop. Plus, I spend time working shit out in my helmet. Rides are literal therapy for me. Nobody needs to hear what I have to say.
  19. I have ear plugs and a new helmet. I bought a Shoei GT-Air which is built for a naked bike like mine and is worlds quieter than my RF-1200. I used to think my RF-1200 was quiet until I rode with the GT-Air - what a difference. I have no-noise ear plugs that filter out noise (wind, etc) but still allow you to hear music thru a Sena. I recommend the ear plugs as well as the helmet.
  20. Well amongst this group alone I've seen complaints about Sportbike exhaust noise and wheelies. Now imagine one complainer who lives on the triple nickel. "Them crotch rockets think they own the road, passing on double yellow" blah blah. Now Barney Fife is tired of the complaining and notices his department is a lil short on revenue. But that scenario has NEVER played out... I'll have my Sena on, sweeping in the back. Seems like this might be a large group. Much better to go the conservative route.
  21. I also had a job change that prevented an earlier trip. I loved the sena, as we all know I am a noob. I am on my 4th season and third bike. Hellmutt gave me a few heads up and granda talked me through a couple of tight corners. After my lowside at Mid O last year I have issues with turns that are tight down and then back up. I found the sides of my tires and had a blast. pics to follow
  22. One of the biggest improvements on the Sena 20S is the range of communication. Sena claims the range to be at 1.2 miles (2km) with open terrain and line of sight achieved using Bluetooth 4.0 technology and the pop-up antenna on the units. However, not everywhere we ride has 1.2 miles of clear line of sight unless we are riding through the Great Plains... Realistically we experienced about 1/2 to 3/4 miles of clear communication riding through the city and around town. What's great about the 20S over the SMH10 is if you do fall out of range from the other device, it will automatically reconnect as soon as it's back in range whereas the SMH10 needs to be significantly closer. Here you can better see the "Ambient Mode" button on the bottom of the unit we talked about in the previous posting. This allows you to quiet everything if you need to talk to someone outside your helmet or allow more focus at an intersection. These have been one of our most popular selling communication devices, get yours today by giving MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804!
  23. One of the best qualities of the Sena 10U is the easy installation process. We will walk you through how to install the device on a Shoei Neotec. To begin the installation, remove the Neotec's ear and cheek pads. Next, install the snap holder and speakers by inserting the speaker into the designated cutout on the Neotec (see second image below). Repeat on the opposite side. To install the battery, insert the battery piece between the shell and interior, as shown in the image directly below. To insert the antenna, insert the straight end between the shell and interior on the side of the helmet (see second image below). Lastly, to insert the microphone piece, simply insert the part with the controls between the shell and interior on the opposite side of the antenna, as shown below. Now you are ready to enjoy your Sena 10U and Shoei Neotech Borealis Helmet together. If you have any questions about the product or would like to place an order, feel free to give MIKE a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Send us a private message through this forum or write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away!
  24. I dig it, but I'm very skeptical this will work even close to acceptable on a motorcycle. Plus, for me, all I have to do with my current gear is plug into the bike and I'm warm as long as the FJR has gas (11.2 gallons at a time, in my case) no matter what the weather. No batteries to charge, I can ride as long as I like. This is true for my helmet speakers too and the reason I rarely use the Sena. I hate charging batteries and having the devices they power quit before I'm ready to.
  25. Where to start on the farkles??? New Baldwin seat, Cee Bailey screen, both fender extenders, T-Rex crash bars, bar risers, Murph's peg lowers, Tech Spec tank and saddlebag protectors, Kaoko throttle lock, grip puppies, headlight protectors, 2 RAM mounts. Sena SMH10 headsets. All I can think of at the moment. One headlight protector and one of the protective pucks on the T-Rex engine guards was destroyed/missed after impact. And yes, I do have two jobs:)
