Tonik
Another thing, for those of you that reuse passwords...use the same password in multiple places. You need to change it everywhere else if your Ebay password matches something else...like your bank. Also, you need to stop being an and use different passwords for different places. At least the important places. So your bank is different from your email and so on.

ohiomike
Tried it via ebay online, wouldn't work, so I called them. After about a 15 min wait, the guy online tried to make it work, said I should try later because they were experiencing heavy volume and maybe thats why ti wouldn't accept my new pw....lol don't ya just love it...lol Edited May 22, 2014 by ohiomike

smccrory
And the 's still haven't e-mailed their customers directly. Yea, No S. I'm feeling a lot less comfortable dealing with/through them now.
Tonik
So the asshats have still not disclosed what was lost and who was impacted. Nor have they contacted their customers. Plz file a complaint if you are an Ebay customer: http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/about-ag/contact

banditj13
That is messed up! Even if you look at the entropy of each of those:Password1 - 40.(something) bits of entropythe first 20 characters of the random string = 72.(something) bits of entropy... EEESH! - wonder what algorithm(s) ebay uses to calculate password strength and complexity....Potentially they look for an upper case character within the password before determining it to be stronger? Note to self... Ebay security might be as bad as facebook privacy...
Tonik
Ebay security might be as bad as facebook privacy... That is the general opinion of the security community. That all the delays were for them to shore things up before the password change, so they didn't have to ask customers to do it twice. Looks like they failed. I closed my account with them.
