marlboro man
Riding it so the forks seals gave out in North Carolina and I put 1000 miles on it anyways so I’m riding it now trying to figure about for oil on the brake pads my theory is it’s like transmission fluid. they seem to work the same. I cleaned them off. Just put 450 miles. Brakes are still good.

Probably will get away with it street riding but if you get the temps up and start doing some hard braking you could see issues. Speaking from experience. Tonik
So back in my previous life I worked on big trucks. When pads got soaked with oil we would heat them with a torch which causes the oil to bubble to the surface and we would wipe it off. I am not suggesting that with bike pads, they can't handle the heat like a truck pad. I am suggesting that if you are using the brakes a lot in some twisties the oil will bubble to the surface. Danimal
I’m the cheapest bastard here, but probably the only one who always has spare brake pads with me. Changing them is easy AF. They’re as disposable as tires or chains or sprockets or even rotors (assuming your attachment hardware isn’t frozen) and would be thrown out if soaked in any petroleum products. That said I’ve ridden with fork oil-soaked pads and they can negatively affect the rotors surface as well. Rotors being harder to source when traveling, it’s just not worth it.

I carry 2-3 sets of spare pads on me. In the trailer of course
Danimal
I was out for a ride the other day and was passed in the opposite direction by two riders. The front bike looked like a Beemer ST model and was filled by a Goldwing. Both riders waved. iIRC it was on Diagonal Rd. Possibly Pauly and Jim? Dad just got his recall done for the fuel pump. The dealer had it for 2-3 days. They said they didn’t have the info on the primary bolt recall yet. The question is, will they drop the motor, or will they do it the easy way and pull the gas tank and ISG? Some dealers are saying motor pull, but since Honda has not released any information, I find that information suspect. If it is a motor pull it will take years for Honda to get this done. JustinNck1
I got the bike out of hibernation and worked on a few things. Got my wiring a little better for my CarPlay unit, checked the air filter, and worked on a fueling adjustment to make the throttle a little better. Ready for more sunny days..

I am a paid Amazon reviewer so they sent it to me for free, but I was impressed how well it works, better than my cars. Pairs instantly, I have it on key switch with the bike. It will work with or without a headset, and has a handlebar controller. The touch screen works pretty good with gloves. Haven’t tried it in the rain yet. Here’s a link to it. https://a.co/d/goExnAl

I haven’t really road tested it yet, but we will see once the weather cooperates.
Pauly
I installed a Chigee on the RT. I wish it was a little bigger, but it looks like OEM kit and functions alright.

It integrates with the handlebar mouse, but it could be less glitchy. The bluetooth dongle that links the unit to the bike can be slow to react at times. Otherwise, for the price I paid for everything, it's good enough. I do have issues with phone call connectivity. It drops calls after a few seconds. Not sure why, but maps and music work well. Not bothered that I can't receive calls while riding.
Pauly
Installed the 90amp alternator for the Goldwing. Left me stranded last fall. F'ing Hondas. Edited April 4, 2025 by Pauly

I had the same issues with a wireless CarPlay adapter for my truck. What I found out was if my phone was connected to more than one Bluetooth device, it would cause the disconnect issue.
