Anyone ever have "tuners" try to race you on your bike?

the big thing around here is the hopped up diesel trucks going around and "smoking" everyone. by smoking i mean loading up the turbo and blowing that thick black smoke/soot all over everyone and everything.

so im sitting at a light minding my own buisness and one of the homos pulls up beside me and i can see the kid in the passenger seat looking my direction and laughing so i know whats up already. i just played it cool and was ready for him to try to blast off when the light turned and when it did i stayed right beside him just pacing him. i never left the passenger window, and i kept looking over at him and shaking my head. so i started taunghting him like motioning him to go and take off to race me when he was already giving that poor truck everything it would every have.

so after a little ways and watchin them both turn there smiles to frowns i twisted it all the way and left them to wonder why they were such big tools!

I agree with the LS1 being one helluva an engine, and I understand there's no replacement for displacement, but with the days of $1.10/gal gas gone... you have to look at more economical ways to make power. Like the Turbo EcoTec engine (which can make as much or more power per cubic inch as an LS1), or the guy that cobbled together two 1300cc hayabusa motors to make a 300hp 2.6L V8. The ideal use of an engine would be to use motorcycle engines as the base for an automotive engine as the design of the motorcycle engines are geared toward high output per cc as well as weight and space savings. Most automobile engine makers are geared toward the cheapest manufacturing processes possible (expect for "specialty" engines, like the new LS9 in the Zr-1 'vette) - totally different philosophy that needs to be revisted with the price of fossil fuels on the rise.

Hell, all this may be a moot point once electric sportbikes become mainstream.

I had a total lamer pull up to me in a Bright Green convertible mustang, under a bridge no less and rev his motor at me. Now this guy was one of those big fat white guys that try to act like pimps but are way off. So I laughed flipped up my visor and he had a passenger, I said "You got no chance homie!" revved the motor and left. His buddy laughed so hard at him, it was great.

eh ls1's arn't horrible on gas, I get 24mpg ragging on it all the time......28mph highway only. I can't complain, plus I only drive it on the weekends in nice weather when I have to haul people, which means it don't get to burn a tank of gas but every 2 weeks........the bike gets rode most of the time, or the work truck in lousy weather.

I drove mine from NJ and back when I was working out there, at least once a month. With the windows down and tops off, cam swap, 12 bolt and a tune, she got 28mpg, not bad at all for a 430rwhp, 12.0/11.90 car. God I miss that car :(

I have the LS5 based N* in the caddy...

it gets between 25 and 35 mpg, depending on how I drive it...

It requires premium though 300HP all stock, not bad for cruising around in luxury, and dusting some "tuners" on occasion...(see previous definition of tuner)

I pulled out my cell phone and snapped a fast picture. :D

I was on the freeway heading out towards hopkins (480 W) and I saw a bike in my mirrors. I looked behind at him and he pulls up next to me and does a standup wheelie for a bit then sets it down and rides llike a buck twenty around a bunch of traffic and is gone. The funny part was that I had the retro daytona in yellow on, and he had the blue.

So I got off at Grayton Road, made a right onto Brookpark. and I was at the light that in infront of Nasa, right before the bridge over Valley Parkway. I was in the curb lane, not really payin attention to what was around me and I heard this car rev. I heard it hissing and new it had to be something boosted. I leave easy, but we both open it up a little , got maybe to 45 or 50, I wasnt payin attention, diddnt want to race on the street or anything. It ended up being an EVO 8. We were just cruising and then Brookpark Road goes under the freeway and it is like 12 lanes of bridge, its pretty long. So we were pacing each other and both drop a gear, then as soon as we got to the bridge we both hit it.

I wasnt really pushin it that much and I knew could be faster. I only got like 3000 miles on it so I still got allot more riding to do. That was the first time I had gotten it on really and I have to say, it was a rush. My heart was thumpin after that. I definetly would love to do some drag racing. Even more so though I want to get on a road course.

Drag racing in Ohio is worse than a DUI in terms of points too.

Actually, they're the same. They're both M1s.

6pts

6yrs in jail

$1000 fine

1yr license suspension

There are of course the maximum penalty.

Weed's a minor misdemeanor and only a ticket, It's not even worth the time to mess with. Honestly, alcohol causes more problems in our society than just about anything else.........well, that and teenagers.:slap:

You know a pet peeve with a lot of officers is those stupid ass blue lights on the washer nozzles. We did 6 months in the police academy to be able to have a car with blue lights on it, no fair buying them at wal-mart.:beating:

Ohh you guys... quit ripping on the Contour. It needs that wing to get all the....downforce, it can on the....rear? Nevermind. :p

And @ Mc... $12, race or watch, every Wednesday night out at Norwalk. Drag racing is one of the cheaper forms of motorsport (at this level anyway). Mostly "street" cars and bikes on Wednesday, though some of guys are running turbo 'busas or turbo Zx-12s. Surprisingly, I don't think I've seen a ZX14 at Norwalk yet. There are lots of 600s though, you'll fit in fine - if you're interested.

Im about 90% sure that is NOT an SVT...no SVT wheels, stock body kit, or susp....i may be wrong tho..haha

Nah definitely looks like a 2000 Contour SVT rims and all. It looks like the rear bumper is a bit messed up though maybe from putting the single exhaust on where there was two before.
