what do you want to do when you grow up?

LOL....all this talk of college doesn't mean crap until you know the basics.

1. What kind of lifestyle do you want to live? (How much do you need to make to support that lifestyle?)

2. What do you want to do with your life? (What is the job for you and/or who do you want to help?)

3. How do you go about achieving that goal? (Cost, training/education, time-frame, etc.?)

Most of you that are lost, I would recommend the military or something along those lines if they offer your field. Sign up for something that you can get trained/educated on and paid while you work. If it's not what you want to do, attend class on the side but still have your primary job/training and something to fall back on.

The one thing that is certain is CHANGE, you need a plan A, B, D, Z, etc......because rarely does anything work out the way it should.

It's not for everyone, but that route worked for me and I can honestly say that I am living my dream!

Oh and one more thing, you dont NEED a college degree to be happy or to make alot of money. But it opens more doors than would be possible if you didnt have one. Hell you dont even need one in the particular field you end up in, there are alot of very smart, capable people out there with college degrees in something they dont even work with (ie, Tim in this thread who if i remember correctly was an architect) so dont let that hold you back either.

Yes, but a college degree is more and more required to even be considered. It is true that I have a dual degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering. I never practiced a day though. I moved into technology and never looked back.

The key is though that many companies won't even hire you for specific positions without a degree. None that I have or currently work for anyway. So while it's true you don't "need" a degree to make a lot of money, it does open more doors that offer an opportunity to make life changing money. My outside reps all make $125-$135k plus car, etc....but a degree is a requirement. The inside reps in the $50-90k range or our customer service reps making like $15-25hr don't require it.

Well, next year the casino will open here in Columbus, you lazy bums can try to be a "professional gamblers". I know I'll try to be one. I've been saving up for a payroll.

On the side note, anyone on here in the pawn shop business?

And yes, please stay in school and get a degree. It really doesn't matter what you study, just get one.

My future will be as a real estate investor, especially in the coming years now that the traders who thought they were investors have lost everything and prices will be low for a while. Other than that I would like women to pay me to give them pleasure.

It's called a jigolo and I've doing it half my life. :)and/or:(

On a more serious note...

What kind of jobs/degrees are some of you looking to get?

Are you chasing the money or actually doing something you enjoy, and/or both?

Chasing money (if you call it that)... while i'm young. I don't car what it is that I do. I know i need to pay my dues before i call the shots. I'l lworry about "doing what I love" later in life.

And, in all actuality... I'm not certain what i'd "love to do"... I am certain however, of the lifestyle Im looking to live. So, whatever it takes to hit my goals (ethically).

I just want to be good at making money.

I also believe you need to have a vision, make a plan, and then execute the plan (simple right?)

I'm shooting for Navy EOD.

Good luck with that, seriously. Question though... do you gel your hair and have the physique of an Abercrombie model? Of the Navy Techs that I know, every single one of them is tan and cut, lol. But they get to blow shit up just like the rest of us.

:fuckyeah:
