Likwid
RR was out so I had to hop around to different access points in my area, plus did some speed tests from my phone.Inevitably this will turn into an e-peen contest, but nonetheless it'd be a good resource for other Ohioans so they can pick an ISP.http://speedtest.net/

Likwid
Here's connecting to some other access points, I get pretty good signal to each these so I don't think it's THAT bad because of distance to router.NeighborFrom my phone I'm getting 1.3 down

Likwid
Please tell me you're on a business account.... do you have any issues using VOIP with the upload?
RSVDon
Pretty sure it's regular RR. Maybe the mid-grade between the base speed and the super-turbo speed. No business account.Using Vonage VOIP with no issue.

No business account.Using Vonage VOIP with no issue. It's not regular RR.... they have FIOS with up to 50 Mbs but you'd know if you had that. I'd say the other option is your modem is uncapped... but again, you'd know thatAwesome speed man, I'd love to have a connection like that. I did confirm it's the RR Standard. Edited January 6, 2010 by RSVDon

jporter12
This is over the wireless, it's better wired, I'll post that one later. That upload is as good as it gets for me, though. RR with powerboost. Powerboost allows you to hit up to 22 mbps for a short time, then it is supposed to throttle back to 15 or whatever it is. I've never had it throttle back. Likwid
Damn, lots of folks with RR... monopolies are great lolI wonder if part of my issue is the modem... it's pretty old. I talked to a RR tech, apparently powerboost is just an uncapped modem... it used to be a big deal that you could open up your modem and get 10 Mbps... but people were getting caught all the time. fusion
I've done better speeds on previous tests.

jporter12
I'd be happy with 1.5 up, I'd give up quite a bit of my down! How much is it for TWBusiness Class? I saw someone (too lazy to go look) that had in this thread...
Likwid
Damn I forgot how awesome that is. Is the OSU Dodgeball site still open? The one that lets you crawl every open PC on the campus?
Likwid
I'm searching but I don't think it's open.In 2000-2001 the Dodgeball "team" created a search crawler that went out and indexed EVERY non-password protected file on the entire campus... (ie you had a folder you opened up to sharing, or an entire computer).... you could search for ANYTHING, porn, movies, music, etc etc etcBut even better than that, it was LAN only, so every file downloaded at 100 Mb/s.... you could download an entire movie in 2-10 seconds. The guy down the hall worked in campus IT security and "reported" it... so I think it got shut down.

RSVDon
Doesn't matter, when you screw up something that good for that many people, you're at least getting a red alert.
