WTF was a Kettering cop doing on the highway? I don't think I've ever seen them there. Or did it get transferred to your jurisdiction?

I was going at the speed limit (indicated, anyway), using turn signals, etc etc. but he drove by, and as soon as he saw my car, he (and his buddy in another car) pulled a U turn and lit me up.

When he walked up, i had my hands on the steering wheel, and put the hazards on with windows down. he asked for my license and insurance, and instead of the usual "do you know why i pulled you over?" he said, "I pulled you over cause you didn't have a front plate" and I said "errr... oh really?" (but in my "I'm genuinely curious and shocked" voice, not "you stupid peasant" voice). And then he walked off, took 15 minutes to write 15 words on my ticket and gave it to me.

I played nice since i wasn't sure he was going to, but as soon as he came back with that ticket, i should've ripped into him for being a worthless citizen harassing sack of ass. but i wasn't all that mad since i haven't had a front plate on my cars since 2003 and never got a ticket for it, so I continued to be courteous. I verified it won't affect my insurance so if i can get those worthless ass clowns at cuyahoga county clerk office to tell me how much my ticket is, i'll just pay it.

Its cuz youre asian. I dont have one on my roadster either. But ill just play the MIL card if it ever happens. :D

Nuthin' here, but a few years ago I just about vacuumed the fenders off a cop (passed him at about 97) He lit me up and said, with a sort of disappointed tone, "didn't ya see me back there?" I said, "No", he goes, "I was in that pack of cars, what's yer hurry?, I said, "just a bit late for work.", he said, "Well, I guess there's nothing here that a $200 ticket's going to cure so just try to keep it down." I was floored and promised him I wouldn't speed again, and I actually didn't. The power of a warning can be more than a ticket sometimes.

Nothing from Tejas? Would be cool to see that one in print.:p

I'll have to scan it and post it up. I'm sure I still have it somewhere.

As for why it's not there, that's for a conversation over beer.

Holy christ Todd. What was the fine on that? I can't believe they didn't hit you with wreckless op!

They got him for that and then some... 6pts (Hell, wreckless op is only 4). Vehicular homicide is 6pts. My best guess, is they nailed him with the Bolded and underlined violation below.

http://www.dmv.org/oh-ohio/point-system.php

Six-Point Violations

  • Homicide by vehicle

  • Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or any drug of abuse

  • Failure to stop and disclose identity at the scene of a crash

  • Willingly fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer

  • Drag racing

  • Operating a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner

  • Operating a motor vehicle while your license is under suspension or revocation

  • Using a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony, or committing any crime punishable as a felony under Ohio Motor Vehicle Laws

Four-Point Violations

  • Willful or wanton disregard of the safety of persons or property

  • Operating a vehicle after under-age alcohol consumption

Two-Point Violations

  • All other moving violations except those pertaining to load limits

  • Operating a motor vehicle in violation of a restriction imposed by the Registrar of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles

A BMV administrative ruling has determined that points stay on your driving record for three years.

I do question the speed though... how was that verified? Radar, laser, VASCAR, air? That's quite a 'trophy'.
