WTF A new tire already

My back tire is seriously 6 months old!!! How is it freaking possible that it is dry rotted already. My bike sleeps on rubber mats and is frame suspended off the ground in the winter!!! Talk about bein pissed

I would assume you bought a tire with a old manufacture date. What brand and where did you get it from?

what conditions do you store it in? other than what you stated, like in a garage or shed?

She is wrapped in a heated blanket with washed and very clean when she is sleeping in the shed. in a nice moisture free environment

Ozone damage? Any electric motors nearby? Or the basic, it was an old tire in stock, before you bought it.

Manufacturer's defect? Ask them to take it back, or give a new one (prorated even)?

edit: The shelf life of a tire is 6 years. Less if exposed to ozone.

I put a new rear tire on in March and have only ridden with it three days and will be lucky to make it another full day. They don't make them like they used to.

i heard that, in a pinch, black tod can use it as a spare tire. he just kinda lets it wrap around the wheel for a few miles.

Mine was wore out. About 1,400 to 1,600 miles so far and the next ride can't be a long one. 200 to 300 miles.

I'm going to have to start using just the tip.

I've since switched to the angel ST, and it's looking good so far.

I belive that means the tire was manufactured the 35th week of 2007. A three year old tire. That'll do it.

I got butned buying tires on-line once. I ordered a set of Dunlops and recieved a 5 year old front tire and a 2 year old rear tire. My local shop would not mount the front tire.

I would think that's a good thing to some extent. No shipping and you can talk to them face to face about it. Now you know what the date code is so you shouldn't have this happen again.

07 isn't so old that it would have dry rot. Dry rot is cause by prolonged exposure to direct sunlight

The front tire on my Sumo is a 0406 and not a thing wrong with it, you've got other issues.

Go the the US DOT site to look up the code for the date of manufacturer. Prob an old tire when you bought it.
