  1. Gas has like a 45 day shelf life before it begins breaking down. So I put some Seafoam in the tank prior to filling it for the supposed last tank of gas for the winter. I also change the oil and hook up a trickle battery tender. I believe it helped my last battery last like 8 years or so. I have never worried about getting the tires up off the ground to prevent flat spots, and have never had a problem either.
  2. I have heard some of those Victory bikes are pretty nice.
  3. I remember those bag phones as we used to call them. When I was running a big truck stop we got them in to sell. Now look at em......man have they made progress in that technology!
  4. Its all about what you want out of a bike. From what I hear, if you want a really great bike, buy a BMW. If you want to scream fast, buy a sportbike like a Hayabusa, or crotch rocket as some call them. Rocket is right because they scream. Me I wouldn't own one. I've ridden them and they are far too uncomfortable for me. But many others love them. Then there are the sportbikes that allow the rider to sit up, are damned fast, corner like a banshee, but imho, do not have the long distance riding comfort that most cruisers or touring bikes have. Those cruisers and touring bikes are great bikes too but with them you give up most of the cornering and speed advantages that sportbikes offer. With Harleys, don't get stuck thinking you have to buy a sportster. Check out the Dyna family. Those are cruisers that blend in some touring with some sportiness, but never think you are riding a true sport bike. There is no comparison. I have ridden my Wide Glide on 5000 mile trips, get 50 mpg whether loaded down or not, but also use it to scoot around town. Bottomline is get out and ride different style bikes, different brand bikes, and decide on what feels best to you while fitting into whatever style of riding you want to do. And don't pay much attention to the fact that you are not going to get much if any love around here if and when you mention buying a Harley. Lots of haters here who openly badmouth the brand. Those people have little to no class.
  5. Great vid Doc. Next year man.....but I'm gonna have to go in and have my elbow checked. Still can't hardly lift a gal of milk with that arm. Oh, and the names! You got em! Very cool.
  6. Not necessarily. Starter draw is pretty heavy and will make a bad battery die real fast. Good idea! Also check to make sure a wire in the starter circuit has not come unplugged.
  7. 1 1/2 yrs old and the battery needs replacement? Kind of odd iyam. My last battery kept on keeping on for 7 years. But if it has been discharged far enough, and has happened enough times it could be bad. But you are right, its always the first place to start troubleshooting. Good luck!
  8. Rode back from Lancaster the other day and was on Coonpath Rd. Colors were awesome
  9. Like Lorenzo Lama's starting his own mc company??? http://www.lorenzocycles.com/

  11. I have watched this race a few times and never fail to be amazed. Someday I would like to attend firsthand.
  12. I've got an old Mossburg 500 AB and I find it amazing how far the ol Mossy has been modified. GLWS!
  13. The driver should be given a medal for doing what's been needed to do by many other drivers in other busses, but in our modern techy political correct world his ass is grass. Anddd the girls' 'people' will probably keep the fire flaming.
  14. Glad to hear you are ok. Now you have another winter project....
  15. I just clicked on the dewalt link and got this
  16. As much as I detest snow, we really need a good snowfall this winter. The drought last year was too hard on our water table and a good sustained snow will help greatly.
  17. Seems they would want more payouts initially to get the word out that it pays to play there.
  18. 100% agreement. Well said.
  19. Google is your friend......that's how I found the Interstate dealer here locally.
  20. I have worked as a traveler before, spending the week and coming home at night. Never out of country though. I also worked out of town, driving back and forth daily for over 100 miles one way. Made for a long drive home every evening after working a 10 hr day.
