  1. Seems one rancher out there was doing that, then burying them in large holes. Iirc, he got caught and convicted on some sort of bs charges. He had proof of damage and vandalism done to his home/ranch when he was on runs to town for supplies. At night they were constantly a threat to him and his family there. Seems he lived a couple of hours from town. When he returned the house was broken into, goods were stolen and the house and surrounding grounds were trashed, but he still went to jail. I've got friends who live in Arizona and they all say its far worse out there, trying to deal with illegals, than the media lets on. Back a few years ago, Mayor Coleman was all up in arms over the proposed Arizona immigration laws, and of course the paper here broadcast all his blatherings. Someone now living along the border in Az (they previously lived and grew up in Columbus; he had read what Coleman said because he still took the Dispatch) wrote into the paper and sent a copy of a letter he wrote to Coleman inviting Coleman to come stay at his place for 2 weeks to see what it was really like because he said Coleman was way out of touch with the reality of the situation there. This issue is a major player in so much of our economic woes here in the US and needs to be dealt with with more than lip service, imho.
  2. Yep and most can not only sell the guns, but shoot them too!
  3. ....other suspects will be charged. "A North Augusta gun store owner used a semi-automatic weapon when he opened fire on three men who broke into his business early Thursday, killing one and sending two others to the hospital with gunshot wounds, officials said. 4. wow, vid's like that give you a distorted feel for how fast he was going, but still, broadsided a deer and still finished the race. That's some tough riding there......glad you and the bike are ok!
  5. Think on this-The riders would not have contacted the ground with their heads had the cage driver not hit them. I hope the cage driver is found guilty if the bike riders were not found to have contributed to the accident. That is accountability and being responsible for your actions.
  6. I'm thinkin on it but will be riding up from Circleville, like an hour ride away.
  7. I've never been to any of the QSL's, but yeh it looks like this one is just off Polaris Parkway. I don't come into Columbus very often either so that doesn't help, but looks like its not too far off 270. My best route would be up 71, but no way do I want to cruise through the construction -war- zone.
  8. is that on Lyra Drive in Columbus?
  9. Sometimes its best not to broadcast things like this (the deal gone bad) on the internet. No matter the site, there are always going to be clique's, there will always be those who take a story and run with it and when names start popping up, rightfully so or otherwise, the whole thing can turn sour very quickly. I won't say anything else. Don't want to be accused of 'preaching'......lol.
  10. What does 442 mean? "This is a very common question that most people don't know the answer to. It all started in 1964. To compete with Pontiac's GTO, Oldsmobile launched their own high performance option on the intermediate-size F85's and Cutlasses. It stood for four-barrel carburetor, four-speed transmission, and dual exhaust.........In 1990, it stood for 4 cylinders, 4 valves and 2 camshafts." http://home.comcast.net/~1972olds442/what_does_442_mean.htm
  11. Sounds like my wife's V Star did when the battery was bad.
  12. Great report on what sounds like a fine eatery! I wish we heard more about the southern portion of the state, would love to find some good catfish eatery down our way. With all the catfish tournaments and fishing spots all around us it seems like there would be some restaurants that had good cf dishes. Another thing missing is smelt baskets. Almost non existent around here, and man are they good along with some cold brew.
  13. I remember the 'Welcome to Ohio' sign on 70 and how good it felt to be darned near home.
  14. This will end up at the SCOTUS to test its constitutionality. Freedom of speech.....and I'm betting those Westboro whores will win.
  15. I rode down to the river and in Oakhill got off on some real backroads. Had to be careful as there were many blind 90's which if blown through would take you off a 30' or so drop off. Saw fields being plowed with teams of horses.....but it was beautiful.
  16. Well you all made great time, even taking all those great pics! 70 through KC and Mizzou and St. L is a mutha too. From there to Columbus is another boring rough ride. Rubber side down, shiney side up.........!
  17. +1 on the gravity bleed method. Back when I was a certified tech I did brakes almost everyday and that's the method I used. Pretty easy and effective if you ask me.
  18. Fantastic! You took our trip (a couple years back) and expanded it to what I wanted to do. I am jealous too. I agree, Kansas is BORING! We rode US 50 across the state. What was your route out and back? Camp out or motel it?
