I’m in Dawson City Yukon, at the entrance of the Dempster Highway. Tomorrow morning I’ll depart in an attempt at making Tuktoyaktuk NWT in three days at the Arctic Ocean and then returning. There are hundreds of Moto-travelers here attending the Dust to Dawson rally. I won’t be alone in my attempt, which is good. The Dempster took another motorcycle rider’s life yesterday in a head on with a gravel truck. He was trying to change “slots” in the deep gravel as he saw the oncoming truck. He lost control while trying to go through the deep stuff.

Aside from trepidation and fear, I’m having a great time meeting people I’ve known online and making new friends.

Dan, wish I knew you were right there in Dawson. Would have tried to at least stop one night. I was passing through Tok and saw ton of adv riders heading to the rally, they mentioned it's one of the biggest get together in the area and to join it. Unfortunately was running out of time and couldn't make it. Good luck to you and ride safe. I did the dalton to prudhoe and can only imagine how crazy tough the dumpster might be.

  2. Awesome, ty for the video B, that stretch of 537 was crap lol, you must have been laughing your rear off to  see us pavement riders always slowing down and going carefully through that little bit dirt and grime lol You ride that strom like a boss. As always excellent ambassador for the Vstrom brand.

I wish I still record videos of rides, there were beautiful roads and views.

By any chance you have the segment on 800, that segment  was the great finale for the ride once we opened up a bit more. 😄

  3. Sorry couldn't update here as the forum was not loading for me. Some kind of error , ty again for coming out in the cold @Gpaw @durk @B-Mac so nice to meet familiar faces again.

we got back Saturday night itself. It was a fun day getting to meet yall and riding with you again. Hopefully get to do it again in fall.

    missed meeting you @Tonikand @Pauly

And another thing. We used communicators for the ride Friday. It was refreshing to hear the reactions to our Ohio roads.

I had no idea there was so much giggling on motorcycle rides!

By the time we hit 536 I was back in my Ohio gear haha :)  but I love that first day back where every hill is a surprise gift . Is it going to be left or right or straight lol and the non stop roller coaster feel and giggles 😄IMG_5329.thumb.jpeg.f1c764c243ccb04232a4135a092c202f.jpegIMG_5331.thumb.jpeg.b64771192c3312e700feecf491aa194e.jpegIMG_5339.thumb.jpeg.bcf7480ca9c24f29fd0e356fe33d0f8f.jpegIMG_5352.thumb.jpeg.006637f4775dfe88673d172a1420663f.jpeg

Ordinarily I would be all over this but I just don't have enough rear tire to make it to New Concord and back home without being on cords. I have an appointment to drop the bike off June 3rd for a new tire and to have some crash protection added along with a Bren tune.

The Friday Marietta option is intriguing. I could trailer down for that. It's a three hour drive without a trailer so I would probably tow down the night before. Post up when you figure out where you are staying.

"We haven't booked rooms yet" Are you traveling with family or bringing motorcycle friends to check out Ohio roads?

It will be nice to meet you Up, it will be me and another friend. He hasn't rode much in Ohio so just going to show him the good stuff around in seo.  Friday will be lighter day. Might do only around 300ish miles. Leave Marietta and end up in Cambridge Ohio. Saturday might be a 600+ miler for us hence shorter loop on Friday.

  9. @Gpaw @Tonik thank you really for coming out. It was so awesome to meet you guys and the day being picture perfect was icing on the cake. Beautiful roads and fantastic company.

Left Raleigh Thursday morning and got back Saturday, 3 days about 1700 miles, if which 1500 is all back roads and all excellent ones. This turned out to be an amazing trip. Relive memories as well as ride almost all of the old favorite roads.

We took 20 all the way to 77 in Princeton which was an excellent ride as usual. Good think I avoided 250 or 33 from previous plan. This was hardly any traffic. reached home by 12. Mo checked into a hotel south of charlotte

rick, the guy name is Mo, I never met him before and just randomly took a chance on total stranger wanting to ride when I posted in the local group here. It turns out he was an excellent riding partner. Hardcore, came all the way from Florida for This ride and he seems to have enjoyed every minute on these roads.

@Gpaw sorry for the nut job ride, I was just too excited and went full bang just to relieve our glorious 164 tour days plus enjoyed the target game. . Even if cuckoo,  I think you had a blast, could see the grin inside your helmet all the time 🤣

@Tonik Mo wanted to let you know he was extremely grateful For the company and excellent tow. He has the Goldwing bean sprouting in his mind I think.

You guys ever swing by the smokies please let me know, if free for sure will come by meet you there.

till next time my friends. Here are the only few pics from today

  10. @Gpaw Sorry for late response team. Is 8:45 meet time okay with all.

@B-Mac come come come it's easy peasy for a cuckoo crazy rider like you :)

@Tonik thinking 83-78-260-26-800 all the way to river. Based on time we prolly have to peel off and cross the river and head south at that point of time. today we road the other side 676 555 78 etc then started climbing north to old battlegrounds of 800 646 164 9 etc

Then back down to Cambridge now.

shoveling away 550-600 miles per day last two days. Tomorrow will be another 600+ day to get back all the way home

todays weather and all these roads forgot how good they were. Took them for granted for many years. After the break to come back and do it, it's entirely different experience. Esp 555 avoided longest time thinking it's still broken up pavement but the part up to 78 from 676 was really good and so excellent.

yes Pauly you won the bet, I thought you knew. First bike that I kept over a year now :) and be keeping long time. 13k miles on it already
