  1. I work for a glass place, and we use Zaino for polishing. Haven't found anything that works better.
  2. http://www.allpar.com is a good place to start...they have various sections and forums for just about everything Mopar related.
  3. My next project is a Mann Accuracy Device. It's a HEAVY 21" stainless barrel on an '03A3 receiver, chambered in 7.62 NATO. They were used to test ammo batches and loads for accuracy. Others have done buildups that yield consistent sub .5MOA accuracy from a forward rest or bipod, and sub .3MOA from bench. I'm planning on a tuned GI trigger (I like the feel of the two-stage setup), an S&K scope mount (03A3 receivers are HARD metal, drilling is problematic) and some variety of Mil-dot scope in the x18-x24 range. I still haven't decided on a stock yet, but it will be wood, not synthetic. Oh, and all of my changes will be reversible, in case the "collector" market realizes how rare these things are.
  4. LOL! Not QUITE that long...but I did have some cargo jean shorts back when.
  5. Always did like the '65 coupes. How's the floorboards and trunk? The quarters look bad enough to just go ahead and replace entirely.
  6. I've had a Colt Pocket Hammerless for about 3 years now...yes, it's vintage and thus hard to find, .32ACP isn't the hardest hitting cartridge out there, and it's only 9 rounds anyway (well, 8+1). That said, it's a John Browning design. Ergonomics are perfect, it's as reliable as a rock, and it does NOT print in jean shorts.
  7. I've had 4 car totalled out now...99ta, if you work for a company that uses 100% of market, than they are an exception in my experience. I've always run into that 80% number, and 2 of my cars came out at right around 70% until the company switched to more expensive OEM parts...generics WERE available for cheaper, and were originally spec'd in the estimate.
  8. 80% of KBB is what they use for the total point (well, most insurance companies do). It's AMAZING the amount of "hidden" damage they can find on a car when it's in that magic 7-15 year range...where they aren't new, but aren't a "Collector" car yet. They'll probably total it by quoting new OEM parts from their tame bodyshop to get the price of the repairs up.
  9. Yeah well, that didn't work out so well LAST time, did it? I'd love to see them at Mid-Ohio though.

  11. I have to wonder if even .01% of the people who recognize that meme have even SEEN "Downfall"...
  12. Parents house is all hard wood in the main living area except for some tile (bedrooms are carpeted)...I don't know how many vacuums they tried, but none of them worked well. A good corn shop broom for general areas and a small whisk for corners are what I'd recommend. Also lots of rugs. Technique is a lot of it too, start with the corners, then edges, and work across your line of dirt. Don't rush it, you'll flip dirt if you hurry. Use a short stroke, letting the broom rise after moving the dirt only two feet or so. Keep the broom head high or turned on the return stroke so you don't blow dirt back. Overlap your strokes so you sweep any particular spot three times. It's a Zen thing...I LIKE using that simplest possible tool for any task, it lets you feel that YOU have accomplished something.
  13. The deputies will probably just hang around long enough to make sure you aren't being reckless, then take off. My parents live out there, we've had a visit or two on the few occasions when the firing rate got rambunctious...the deputies have never been anything but polite and courteous. Go cold-range and weapons down as soon as they show up...having somebody crank off a round while they are talking with you is just rude, they don't have hearing protection after all. Offer them a couple of shots with your favorite shoulder thumper...they'll probably say no, but it's a good way to get them on your side.
  14. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/REESE-Universal-Coupler-Lock-1XUC3?Pid=search Dad built one sort of like this. But his is solid steel, and it lock into the receiver cup, around the tongue, and through the handle. He also lowers the landing gear so the trailer is almost to the ground, then takes the gear handle off. It won't STOP a determined thief, but it'll be enough of an inconvenience to get them to not bother.
  15. I'll be impressed when somebody gets that car to actually DO that claimed top speed. JOHN HENNESSEY, people... 1200hp in a V-wagon would be wicked fun though.
  16. That 280...somebody is trying to get back some of the WAY too much they put in it. Regular Z, not a ZX, not a Turbo, and it's a 2+2...
  17. I know a guy who used some of the switchable glass in his gun cabinets. Neat effect!
  18. Mohican has some nice short trails as well, plus you can do the canoe rental thing. Caesar Creek has the South Trail, 4.3 each way and some nice scenery. Tar Hollow has quite a few trails that can be strung together into just about any length. Strouds Run pretty much IS trails...
  19. I love an early 60s Caddy...but it's gotta stay Caddy V-8, so a 500inch build would be in order. 4L60 is good to go too, there are adapters available. I heard a 472" Caddy the other day with flat-plane headers...good God in Heaven that thing sounded DEEP.
  20. "Saudi guy chasing deer around with a truck for an hour so that they are exhausted before releasing a leopard" would be more accurate. I'll be impressed when he catches the deer himself...they fight like hell when you grab them.
  21. I've seen DRUMS that have worn through...they kept putting new shoes on them with shims between the shoe and the wheel cylinder. The effort they put into figuring out how to do it WRONG had to be much more expensive than doing it right.
  22. Most dogs are at their proper weight when you can just barely feel their ribs through the fur...with short haired dogs, you can see them too. Not a hard rule, but a good rule-of-thumb.
  23. You gotta do breakfast at Clifton Mill...their buckwheat pancakes are incomparable. Do the trails around the Gorge, make your way to Yellow Springs and do the stores, then finish up with ice cream at Young's Jersey Dairy. Conkle's Hollow is the best part of Hocking Hills...the rim trail is incredible. The Grandma Gatewood Trail runs from OMC to Cedar Falls to Ash Cave, 6 miles one way, and has some beautiful spots you won't see if you just do the individual parks. There is a shuttle that runs from Ash to OMC, don't know the schedule or cost though.
