  1. brian, you should always clean a set of rotors when changing your pads. well that is if you want the new set to bed in properly and reach their max potential. but you can do it at home. http://www.braketech.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83&Itemid=100
  2. oh look out it's going to explode or strip a bolt. if you are really that ignorant about tightening a bolt here and there, do your bike a favor, sell your tools and take it to a shop. I guess you're one of those guys who uses a new crush washer every oil change and uses a torque wrench on the oil drain plug too. you'd probably cry a river if you've ever seen a car put together on an assembly line with air tools and no torque wrenches. about the only thing they build on cars with a torque wrench is the wheels and engine parts.
  3. you can't prove it's bad news. they could be making it all up. as in, no company has ever lied about it's finances.
  4. see, I was pretty close. except for the front axle. mine is 64
  5. your bike wont come apart or explode from any of those bolts not being "exact" do the axle to around 80 the calipers to about 30 pinch bolts are usually about 10-15 and the front axle is usually 60-70
  6. guess who just got his with no late fee....he rides a blue R6.
  7. chances are these companies found the perfect excuse to get these people off their benefits to save the company money. companies don't do things by the kindness of their hearts. they do it for the almighty dollar. if they could get away with cutting your throat to save $10 a month they'd all do it. unless you know for sure the real inside workings of these companies you're better off ignoring these stories.
  8. oops scratch that it only covers 380-750 tripples from 1972-1977. it's a clymer manual. http://www.clymer.com/Book.aspx?bid=883&title=Clymer+Suzuki+GT380%2c+GT550+%26+GT750+1972-1977
  9. I have a service manual that covers the 250 and the 550 etc. I used to have a 550. I'll take $10 for it. $5 shipping
  10. umm that's been a fact talked about on pretty much any news station there is. including fox. the republicans wanted that in there for a certain reason. I think it has something to do with insurance companies lobying them to put it in there. if you are going to protest something make sure you know what you are protesting. or you look like a party- line nut swinger yourself.
  11. yes!!! good it passed!!!! maybe now we will get to see the progress of stem cell research too. of course everything in the Health care bill that is terrible ideas are the ones republicans put in it. like making you buy it if you don't have insurance already. (yes this is a fact, look it up, the republicans put that in there) why would they do this? it's simple, so they can say see.....look how terrible this thing is...now they've got people eating out of their dirty hands.
  12. that conversion on a R6 only requires the 1. forks 2. top and lower tripple 3. brake master cyclinder 4 rotors 5 calipers 6. front fender 7 and the brake lines (because the radial master cyclinder has the hose mount under instead of coming out the side like yours does) the banjo fittings on the lines are at a 90 instead of straight like they are on yours 8 and possibly the spacers for the rim. I'm not 100% sure on that.
  13. it's not just about damages claimed it's has more to do with the amount of claims and tickets the area you live in sees. they have this shit down to a science. if you live in an area of high theft, a lot of accidents, or a lot of tickets, you get to help pay for it. and what draws out more cops? guys riding like that.
  14. to guys like me an you who ride on a track, yes. it's very un impressive. just another bone head squid if you ask me. and thanks to guys like him everyone pays more insurance.
  15. yeah the lake part. it's just a huge fucking lake LOL and looks like a killer place for boating and fishing. now that's the problem... it's blocked after the foothills parkway and after 72. those are the two roads I had in mind. but you can still go down to the cherohola and ride up it to the dragon. I don't see how they can just close it. seems like they have some kind of motive behind this whole thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the intentionally made the rock slide.
  16. didn't the rock slide happen down along the river before the "dragon" starts? there is a few ways around it. depending where exactly the rock slide is. I can't imagine they closed the entire 129 route. there are people who live down there that might work in knoxville or live on the wrong side of the slide and work in robbinsville etc. they don't close entire roads to repave them why would they close a road that long and that vital to the area (for the stores/businesses and residence)? just seems like an excuse.
  17. good luck. you'll probably have to hunt down a tool truck or order one from the net. I've never seen a decent one in a store (not even sears) that start out below 20ft/lbs in a 3/8 wrench. I have one from KD tools and it starts at 10 but that's the lowest I've ever seen in person for a 3/8 wrench. but they sell 1/4 drive wrench that measures in-lbs. they should cover you if you are really worried about it. (kind of silly to worry about it unless its something like the bearing caps etc) http://www.kd-tools.com/32613262.htm
  18. you might have loose steering head bearings if they are moving. but I would think you should be able to feel it clunking. did you eyeball the rotors to see if they are straight...and honestly, did you scuff up the rotors with a tool or just some sandpaper? you should be able to find the 3M roloc disc rotor resurfacing kit at a local auto parts store if you don't feel like ordering a rotor hone. they do sell them at some motorcycle shops. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Marine/Home/Products/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20S4K7_nid=GSSXMHGGC5gs4CCRDFQ26Jgl2KX0K0NXS8bl the most important part is getting those discs clean. here is some other stuff to look into, http://www.braketech.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58:brake-judder-and-wheel-binding&catid=17:tech-talk&Itemid=69 they also sell the rotor hone, http://www.braketech.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83&Itemid=100
  19. yeah it' a bummer. I've seen guys have to buy another master link and a few new links to make up the extra links they removed. DOHH!
  20. make sure you check them first. it's simple. you can do it with a pencil or plastic pen etc often if you spin the wheel you can see the rotor runout. using a pencil hold it against the fork tube and put the point against the rotor. now spin the wheel by hand and watch the point on the rotor. if it moves off the rotor or pushes the pencil in your fingers away from the rotor then you know it's warped. ( I call this a poor mans dial gauge)
  21. keep this in mind, you have to remove 2 links on a new chain in order for the master link to fit again. it will come ready to accept a master link. (both ends of the chain will be inner links). since a master link attaches to a inner link you need to remove that one inner link and one outer so it will fit the next inner link. you'll see what I'm talking about when you start messing with it.
  22. my brother works for guardsmark. I'll tell him about this thread. put it this way, he hates working for assholes...and he's had this job for more than 3 years or so...it must not be that bad working for them.
