  1. speaking of a lexus. call autozone or advance auto parts and see how much a "rebuilt" a/c compressor is for a 2002 lexus IS300 is. I'll tell you but you won't believe me, it's $1500. you know how much my 1997 gmc sonoma cost? $250. I could buy a rebuilt engine for my sonoma for $1500. you can only buy a AC compressor for a lexus LOL http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsShelf.jsp?displayName=A/C+Compressor&currentPage=1&categoryDisplayName=Climate+Control&navValue=15200082&itemId=82-0&parentId=52-0
  2. I've been working at a used car lot and I'm really getting sick of hearing people say things like this. all of the honda's toyota's mazda's and nissans have just as many and often more problems than any american cars do. and the parts to fix them cost more. this belief these brands of cars are better is false. we work on just as many broken parts on these brands of cars as any brand.
  3. the tarus sho has over 300hp twin turbo. way more power than the Crown vic police interceptor. the dodge has 4 wheel drive. making it good for winter.
  4. I wouldn't mind trying out a sales job in the motorcycle world too...except I'm too far away also. you sound like a good guy to work for. but when I said a salesman is a salesman I meant if he/she did it before no matter what they were selling, they would transition easy into a new job selling anything. not like being a construction worker and going into a ceo position etc.
  5. I'm not slamming you. but slamming the entire American industry. everyone wants an employee with all the knowledge and experience of their company to hire. but never stop to think how can someone know all of this without having already worked here... now a salesman is a salesman. he could work anywhere. but you see companies hiring people but requiring someone to magically know all the ins and outs of their company or have 5 years experience. and all the other requirements. then you see the pay. and it's usually laughable. I guess there's always a desperate candidate out there. I've been looking at want adds for the past 8 months. and this is pretty much the status quo you even see it with lawn mowing jobs. simple $7-9/hr jobs that you have to supply your own tools and work vehicle and have 2-3 years experience. to mow lawns...mow lawns..to simply mow lawns. wow. no wonder we have a 10-14% unemployment rate still. I have a huge gripe about companies and their hiring practices. they seem to want the best candidates but also seem to push away potentially great candidates by not being willing to go the extra mile on their end of the bargan. I hear stories about HR not calling people because of one silly spelling mistake on a resume. or they think their handwriting isn't up to their personal standard. really? you just made an assumption about someone's work ethics and personality based on that? our nation is under attack by snobs and lazy companies not willing to do any kind of orentation. in my profession, I have to train a new person no matter what part of the job I do. I might not have to show them how to use a saw properly but I wouldn't care if I did. but I will have to show them what/how to do something at some point. I don't have a problem with it, some of the guys I work with do. and these are the guys HR always listens to. I've had new guys work out better than guys that have done this kind of work before. they are always the laziest and stubborn ones to work with. they think they know it all, I should kiss their ass, and they deserve my respect. and nothing aggravates me more than someone like that.
  6. ever notice how every company wants someone with experience? how do people get experience in something if no one lets them do it? lol just something that irritates me with companies this day and age. I mean it's not like sales people go to college and obtain masters. if they did they wouldn't be working for $10/hr plus commission.
  7. the only thing bad about this stuff is cops are going to start really cracking down some bullshit laws. just look at what ohio did. now cops don't have to clock you with a device, they can just say you were speeding. oh and who cares how fast you can go in a straight line.
  8. it doesn't appear as a hole to me. it protrudes out not in. I can see the image it's just got too much going on to make out what it is. the other two appear fine.
  9. if you look, lots of tracks have them. they must use something different than the DOT. here's a picture of putnam
  10. twisty mother fuckin roads...what else do you really need? check out the blue ridge parkway and moonshiner 28 http://www.moonshiner28.com/moonshiner28_maps.html
  11. that's a dry county, you can't buy alcohol. the whole area is pretty much the same way. you might be able to buy some in knoxville and down south of robbinsville in andrews.
  12. I see an immage but I can't make out what it is. this is one of the poorest ones of these I've ever seen. all I can make out is two upside down hands a something or other sticking out (not in) and looks like nothing I can think of and whatever that jumbled mess of whatever at the bottom.
  13. the fresh ones always get me but I've never had any trouble from older ones. I rode across one monday in a parking lot and felt the front slide. and that was 10-15mph. got to where I was headed and the side of my tire was covered in tar. it must have been put down in the last few days. putnam park (track) is covered in them. but they are either old and cured or a different material than what the dot uses. because they are not slippery at all. (you can even see one in my avatar)
  14. it's been on here and there for a few weeks now. I just hate watching any movie and every 5 min a commercial comes on. it's different with a tv show.
  15. thought about it once. then thought about how dangerous it seems. so I took my bike to the track instead.
  16. www.batterystuff.com sells agm scorpion batteries for cheap. agm batteries can sit for a year without a charge.
  17. you're going to need a couple extra cases of liquid shock after that...
  18. what!?! you mean he can't be in 20 places at the same time??? holy shit I knew he wasn't the man for the job.
  19. honestly it doesn't matter who you call, it all comes down to the guy doing your car. I had Harmon auto glass replace mine and can't complain. $210 with tax.
  20. they do still make a crazy assed thing called a phone book you know..
  21. that's exactly what I'm talking about. the stopwatch method isn't off by 4-5 seconds. (when I'm using it) a few tenths of a second ok I agree. I'm usually doing this in secrecy, because I honestly have a hard time believing some of the guys on this board and assfault junkies when they can barely even put a knee to the ground but magically run 1:18's etc. and when you ask them to prove it, I like the oh I erased that lap by accident or I erased the whole session by accident. and any video they ever make (that they rave about) magically never shows a full out lap. it's always edited after a few corners etc. so you can never time them by their videos. as for my other comment about the street pace, I've never been to a stt even. so I can only speak about curve chasers, cycle options and one nesba or desmo combined with stt or somethig along those lines. I just can't remember. and it never fails. guys that should be in beginner are all in intermediate and running what I consider a quick street pace. what I consider street pace is when you are following guys through turn 10 at 70mph, turn 1 at 80, 2 at 65, 5 at 65, 7 at 45 mph, that's street pace for those corners at putnam. and it never fails, there will be what seems like 13 of the 20 or so riders in intermediate that should be in beginner. brian I think I've seen you say it before, if you can't at least run under 1:19 you shouldn't be in advanced. and what 1:23-1:19 for intermediate? as long as we have the truth system in signing up for a track day group, we'll always have guys signing up to the wrong group because they don't want to feel like a chump to their buddies. never mind they will still be slow, but now they'll be holding everyone else up with them. I'll be honest, a barely into the 1:18 is all I could probably ever muster up. I confortably pace putnam in the 1:23 and 1:22 range most of the time. I get pooped out in only 5 or so laps and that's where I end up staying. I never stated I'm a fast rider. running in advanced at times gets a little to wild for me. but I just hate trying to pass so many guys that should be in beginner that are always in intermediate. in the few years I've been running at the track, I think I've only had one or two laps where I could go all out without being slowed by another rider. that includes in advanced. I try not to be "that guy" in advanced. when I think I'm holding guys up, I move over and take a look and most of the time no one is around me. so in pretty much all the track riding I've done, I don't think I've ever been the guy holding up any amount of riders.
  22. assfault junkies...enough said shake n bake:D
  23. I don't I run in advanced. 75% of the guys in intermediate are doing street pace for the most part. now, I can't hang with 30% of the guys in advanced but I'm also not holding anyone up for the most part. I can muster up 1:18's at putnam on a good day. and I'm talking about real 1:18's not quesses like a lot of guys I see posting about their times there. when I sit and time them with a stopwatch they only did 1:24's etc.
  24. damn that's bad. lol. I couldn't even start in novice they were too slow. and I was pretty slow, just ask STT-brian he made fun of my video.:bigfinger:
