  1. I've not followed much of your bike wanting closely, so it's probably already been explained, but I see here that you're not wanting an I4. What's the reasoning for that?
  2. Scrap on steel is way down right now. I'd hold on to the trailer for a bit.
  3. Tire wear and mileage are two different beasts. The pictures he posted were talking about tire wear. Getting rid of the slop in the rear end and upgrading the suspension yielded much better tire wear. Mileage on that bike is just the nature of the beast, 3-4k of spirited riding is what that bike gets. I know c14 guys that run shinkos and getting 8000 miles. They aren't running 1000's of miles of twistys though.
  4. This is a huge point. My father fabricated and redesigned his entire rear end because the stock is so sloppy. It had improved his tire wear and stability at high speeds. To the air pressure comment, he runs his tires at recommended pressures and gets good wear. The pr3 is dual compound and it does well. He's also got traxxion dynamics front and rear suspension work done to the bike. Tim, if you have any real questions about the bike I'm sure he can provide an answer that might help you out. He's got 90k on the c14 he owns.
  5. Home depot screw up. They had a clearance sticker from 2013 on the rack, so I made them give it to me at that price...shed was 700ish.
  6. I've got the angel GT on my bike and can roast a set of tires in 4000 miles. Dad put the angel gt's on his c14 and got about 2000. He's had the bike since 08 and since the pr3 came out, that all he uses. Stands up best to the brutality of that bike on tires. Unfortunately they are discontinuing those and the pr4 suck. So not real sure what he plans to do now.
  7. I've got the US leisure. Bought it about 6months ago for 329. It's on a concrete pad and it has worked awesome for me. No leaks at all, was about 4 hours to put up with two people. The door latch is nothing sturdy, but it'll keep the honest thief out. I can only give it positive reviews. Any questions just ask.
  8. You need to get a different tire for that heavy bike. Dad rails his C14 all weekend and has better tire wear than that. Granted he only gets 3-4k out of his tires they wear better than that. He runs the pr3's.
  9. I've got a plastic shed. Got it on a good deal about a year ago. Works great. Has metal reinforcement inside to allow for shelves to be hung from the walls. Has slots similar to closet organization. It's an 8x10 and holds a surprisingly large amount of stuff
  10. Post whore status...just got to robbinsville, we are at the microtel. Gonna get food in a few minutes.
  11. It almost looks like amicalola falls, but I'm guessing.
  12. Kind of tough...I like the skyway. Devils triangle is fun too. Look up back of the dragon in Virginia. If you could fit that in, I think I'd do that over any of the other roads. Then hit the snake after that.
  13. If you'll ship it, I'll take it...wanna try out a cam on the bike to see if it's something I like before I buy an expensive one.
  14. Doing those tomorrow. In Wytheville, VA tonight. Going to Mt. Airy tomorrow and working back y'alls direction, should hit 212 and 209 at least. May try to get to wheels through time and still make it to robbinsville...
  15. I found my new absolute favorite road today, in Virginia. Called the back of the dragon. It was awesome. Got to ride the diamondback, the snake, and the back of the dragon today. I'll be making my way down toward robbinsville tomorrow. May stay in robbinsville or at least close by.
  16. I've finalized my riding plans. I'm going north of y'all Saturday and Sunday, but plan to be in robbinsville Monday evening and stay in town somewhere. Going to ride most of the morning on Tuesday and take off for home in the afternoon. Hopefully home before dark Tuesday.
  17. That's awesome. Been looking for a service manual for the little ninja 650 I picked up to teach the girlfriend on. That site had it for $10. If it's in the same condition as you say your FJR manual was, I'm pretty excited. Thanks.
  18. I'm eventually going to pass through the area, but I've ridden there so often its just going to be a day ride as I head south of there most likely. I'll be riding near the NC/virginia state line most of the weekend.
  19. I have $6320 i will send western union. Both bikes wil I take. Send message with address and bank information. Return with bike both the over amount of money after cost to ship is subtracted. This is great deal for you...
  20. I look at it as an extra bit of security against stupid bike theft. For the less than knowledgeable, unplanned thief that tries to steal a bike as a crime of opportunity. The more redundancies the thief may have to figure out the less likely they'll continue to try to steal. How effective that thought is, I don't know, but it makes sense in my head.
  21. If you were willing to come to nashville, I know of a 2001 magna with 11000 miles for sale. Could probably be had for 2700-2800. Bike is clean and I just rebuilt the carbs in it. Runs perfect.
  22. I kill the bike, in gear, with the kill switch. Flip lights to dim, then turn key off. Then kickstand down, always leaving it in gear. To start, in gear, clutch in, kill switch on, key on, kickstand up, start button. Oh and on carbureted bikes, fuel petcock always gets turned to off position.
