Buck531
Ok. There was a 1/2 quart low on my car when I checked it earlier. I happened to have a 1/2 quart of Advance Autoparts oil from a few weeks ago that we put in my bro's car. All is good. Until I drain the last bit. I hear a rattle in the container. WTF. Open it up.. and find this shit. http://mymonte.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10003/normal_1.jpg[/url] http://mymonte.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10003/normal_3.jpg Yes, that was in the SEALED jug of 10w-30 motor oil from Advance autoparts. I looked on the back, says it's manufactured by Chevron, which is in ties (or something) with Havoline. I did watch it pour out of the jug and I didn't see any other junk come out of it. so I think I'm ok. It's pretty brittle, almost feels liked really thin hardened plastic. Now I'm paranoid. I'm almost thinking of straining all the oil that goes into the damn car. And NO, this is not what I normally put in my car. I normally use Castrol GTX (been using it for years w/o issue). Just makes you think what IS in your oil.
TheBussman1647545507
all advance auto parts oil is the exact same as Havoline, (for those of you that chought the 0.25 a quart deal you would know.) i've got 2 12-pack boxes at home, kinda makes me scared to use it now. i use alot of Castrol GTX, just because it's cheap, but it does work good. nathan
Use amsoil. They have clear gallon jugs so that you can see everything. It also is the best oil on the market.

Total Sign
Never had a problem with the advance.....Use it in daily cars. Amsoil gear lube on the other hand sucks, didn't feel ballsy enough to try their engine oil after that.
6 Speed S4
I have always used Castrol GTX or Royal Purple, never any problems.

nurkvinny
I would blame that on the plastic bottle manufacturer. Having said that, thinking back on the 8 years or so doing oil changes everyday out of 1qt bottles, I NEVER saw anything like that come out. Buck531
Posted this on another board I'm on. That my friend is "nozzle drool" from the blow molding process. If the processor doesn't keep the nozzle clean, then the resin builds up and burns on the hot injection nozzle. Eventually it can break off and end up in the part being molded. that guy needs to be fired.

Buck531
Well, I asked what was IN the oil. I really don't give two shits on WHAT type of oil you use. However, the Blood Of Christ IS a good answer.

Kohones
I don't know whats in it? I just re-use Dr Z 06's because if it was good enough for him (the 1st time) it has to be more than the manufacturers specs even in use the 2nd time, plus its changed every 3,000 miles - Haaaaaaaa
