But after driving around with it like that, I like it, it barely moves from gear to gear. They all just *click*.

SPLN SUX
the shifter should actully be pretty long... its the throw that should be short. Look at Ferrari's... the shifter is made long so that its placed very close to the steering wheel... this allows for your hand to be away from the steering wheel for minimal time during shifting. The shorter you make the shifter, the longer you have your hand off the wheel.

SPLN SUX
hell i never take my hand off the shifter, but i drag race not road race True, but even still, if you look at some sequential shifters, they too are quite long, but the throw is comparable to that of a motor cycle. I suppose as long as you have good power steering... your in good shape with just one hand going down the strip.
TimTheAzn
i had a friend back in houston that did that to his rsx...his shiftboot was almost as high as his shift knob....

ohio_wookie
yeah, ive pinch my fingers a few times. its becoming a little annoying, im probably just going to throw my other short shifter on there thats about 3" longer. And as far as keeping your hand closer to the steering wheel, the MR2 is tiny even with it like that your hand stays really close to the steering wheel. SPLN SUX
I personally like the shifter to be 6in-9in away from the wheel. Any shorter than that and it feels cramped, and any longer is almost hard to find thru multiple sets of corners.
Alex1647545498
Eh, yeah... Brian's knob that he gave to the MR2. Wow, that's short. The knob looks good on there.
