how much per gallon did your first tank of gas cost?

I turned 16 in 89, gas was around $.85/gallon.

 

My current vehicle would have cost $10 to fill. I get right at 330 miles per tank.

 

Today it costs right around $47.

Cheapest I ever bought gas was $0.99 a gallon. My current car costs $50 to fill up. =(

I think it was around 99 cents when I had temps. When I started driving it was probably 1.15

Around $.99. I remember when it "shot up" to $1.19 in 1997, I was amazed to find it for $.99 in Georgia since they don't have a state gas tax.

Think it was closer to $1.02 a gallon maybe, so I think I paied less than $18 for a full tank that would go 7 days.

not sure how accurate overall the above is. I don't remember what it was in 1986 but I remember the first time I really cared was after modifiying my 1997 GTP and premium was like $1.25-$1.45 or so.

 

back in 99 I used to drive by a UDF all the time and can remember $.99 all the time for regular but again, I needed premium.

 

If my income went up from 1999 at the same rate gas has, I'd be driving several exotic cars on a regular basis

In June of 95 when I was 18, the prices locally were - 1.17, 1.26, and 1.35. Remember, the spread used to be $.09.

 

When I bought my first tank (at 14.5 years old), it was .89, .98, 1.07.

I never gave any though to fuel economy or how I drive. Now I don't drive unless I need to, organize errands to be efficient and quick, and drive very passively. I guess paying 400% more for gas and being a little smarter about my money than I used to be makes quite a bit of difference(that and I don't make enough damn money to afford driving around like most assholes).

When I was 16 I think it was about .90 per gallon, about $10 to fill up the old pinto. The cheapest I have ever bought gas was .69 per gallon when i lived in St. Louis about 1997-1998

Now it cost me $37 to fill up with 11 gallon tank!

I too remember paying .89 cents per gallon. My truck with a 38 gallon tank would cost me $33.82 to fill up.
