cmoosego
now you guys are starting to see how it is everyday in the KofC... so many charities... the key is pick one that everyone can get behind and support ALL the way. Not just "say" you are gonna do it, actually follow through. I will get behind any charity the group wants to do. Especially if it is for animals or kids or disabled people or veterans... Lets just do it right, no half measures, or bs excuses.

Likwid
Yup.Even cooler, would make that "Fallen Riders" or "ORDN relief fund" legit tax deductions :-D
Casper
Even cooler, would make that "Fallen Riders" or "ORDN relief fund" legit tax deductions :-DIf we raise money for charities, it's still tax deductible. We won't be taking a penny of the money raised. IE: We have an event raising money for Flying Horse Farms. You donate $100. That $100 is tax deductible for you as a charitable donation to Flying Horse Farms. If you write a check, you'll be writing it to Flying Horse Farms, not Ohio Riders. There are enough "Fallen Riders" charities out there. We don't need another. As for ORDN relief fund, I'm not so sure about that. I think it's a good idea in concept, but would be WAY too hard to administer. Too many of us are friends on here. I think as such, friends should just take care of friends. redkow97
roadracingworld action fund, red-flag fund, or airfence fund.maybe not as noble as saving animals, etc., but it helps people who enjoy the same things we do.

jbot
any not-for-profit children's hospital would be great.
Casper
any not-for-profit children's hospital would be great. That's what the Roll On Columbus event is for (www.ohiomcforchildren.org www.rolloncolumbus.com). We are definitely a big part of that.
jbot
i realize that, but unless we are looking to specifically help another category of charity, i wouldn't mind sticking with NFP children's hospitals. i believe cleveland clinic children's is a not for profit, for example. i think there are enough to keep us busy, just in ohio if we were so inclined.if we are trying to be a bit more diverse in our philanthropy, I'd go with disabled veterans charities (Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund would be my pick). Hard to find a statewide charity/foundation that isn't also nation-wide (nation-wide meaning they probably don't need any help)Edit: I get that roll on is doing a statewide event
danballa
Personally I would vote for anything cancer relatedhttp://www.deltasociety.org (great group I was involved with briefly before I got sick, they deal with animal-assisted therapy, and similar stuff )something for OR people who fall on hard times.
