  3. Done and done. Thank you Michelle! Thank you Procycle! So far I’ve only ridden probably 3-400 miles of dirt roads in the last week, and on only a few were under dusty conditions where I was following a pickup. I was surprised how much dirt made it into the fork seal area with those cracked boots. Much better now. Confidence restored. Heading NW towards the Carway border crossing tomorrow
  4. Ill be there weather permitting
  5. Sup ohio family, if weather holds well thinking of passing through Ohio on Saturday June 1. 9. Last week
  10. There are friends I don’t hear from much anymore that still frequent this site, and their signatures on my bike are a steady reminder of fun times in the past. So I’ll keep updating here as well So I decided to stay an extra night here in Pettibone ND at Chris’ cabin in order to do a maintenance day on Sunny. There were a few things to address, namely getting the horn working and a few other things. Well, things never are as simple as that are they? During cleaning and inspection I see multiple cracks all over both front fork boots. These boots are criticize keeping dirt and grime away from the fork seals. I contacted Procycle and they are shipping no cost a new set a day ahead of me where I can do the install (which requires both fork legs to be removed). So guess where I’m heading tomorrow? A long day SW to Custer South Dakota where I’ll be visiting and staying with friend and Moto-author (and fellow contributing author with me in the Moment Collectors book) Michelle Lamphere !! I last saw Michelle when leaving Denver heading back to Ohio right after getting out of the wheelchair! Also will be visiting friends Shana Sanderson and her husband Eugene where I can do the work changing out the fork boots. So all in all a productive day. Horn repaired Chain cleaned and lubed Carb breather filter cleaned Small section of fuel line replaced with one the correct length Two pounds of bug guts removed. Yuck lol. Highway peg pivots cleaned and lubed so much blood disassembly begins horn now works again
  11. Thank you, Bubba. If I regret it enough, I'll overcorrect with a new 1250RS.
  12. @Pauly Sent a guy from the ADVR forum your way. His location said PA. He was posting questions in an R1200RS FS thread so I sent him your link. Good luck with sale....yer gonna regret it.
  13. Been there. Good food. Gump lives a few minutes from there.
  14. Random campsite in MN near the ND border. One week out
  15. Same as last Sunday. Lunch in RV. Took the RT. Beautiful day. When we got home I took the Wing for a carburetor flush down the interstate. Ran her about 80mph on the way out and about 60-65 on the way home. She's got enough under the hood to tour at 90 mph, but shes really all about that right-lane, speed limit touring lifestyle. Amanda wants to get vintage tags, so I guess it's a parade bike, too. Next time you see me on it, I'll be sporting black shorts, white t-shirt, white velco kicks and a boomed 3/4 helmet.
  16. Twisted sisters was okay but I wouldn’t ride all the way to Texas just to ride it. We went to Texas so my buddy could visit with relatives, and did the Sisters since we were there. 👍
  17. What did you think of it? It was good, but no big deal IMHO.
  18. Been on the road since May 5. Should be home tomorrow. Twisted sisters in Texas, cherahola skyway, dragon, moonshiner, blue ridge parkway, snake, back of the dragon. Whew. Who knew there were so many roads with funny names 🤣
  19. Deb and I are doing Vermont and New Hampshire this summer.
  20. Had a nice solo ride this morning. Took the 542 around the lake to 39/212/800/22 - stopped for a burger and fries on 22 - then 22 into Cambridge to grab CR-21 to 77. Fuel in Bolivar and then 212/21 into Massillon and backroads home from there. Installed risers onto the RT and replaced the Ilium Werks highway pegs with the set I had on the GSA. Less is more. Ordered a backpad like the one that comes on the GTL for Amanda. My new Sargent saddles should be here in a week or so. Bike is just about cross-country ready.
  21. Goldwing. There is no law against owning 2 bikes. Wasn't able to do it this trip because Illinois and Indiana are flat and boring but most trips we do are like this with fun roads in between. We have an absolute blast on these trips. Even when things don't go perfect.
  22. I love the idea of a trip like this but she will NOT ride on the back of my current bike. And I already know the answer for that is GOLDWING!
  23. Everyone is telling me the carbon fiber wheels are giving it the feel of transitional control but I only have the '16 SXR to compare it too. I added a lot of extras to the '16 that surely add up to some weight plus there is a factory difference of 35lbs, there has to be at least a 50lb difference between the two bikes and possibly more. Another factor into the handling differences is the new bike is on sticky sport bike tires when I ran sport touring tires on the '16 XR. I can't find the correct gear to enter corners either which is messing with my head. I expected more power but what I really wanted was to allow some form of wheel spin while leaned over without having to turn off the ABS and Traction Control completely so I could feel some drive out of corners. The '16 SXR didn't drive until the bike was upright, I have that drive now along with the power and weight reduction which wasn't really needed. This is more than I bargained for but in a good way maybe. I'm going to have a long transition into understanding this new speed threshold and handling character. I hope when I get it all figured out and comfortable with what it has to offer the thing doesn't end up putting me in jail.
