Say good bye to Desmo. Welcome pushrods and hydraulic lifters. Say hello to the new Multi-Glyde or the revolutionary Fat-Panni. I suppose the new dealerships will have a barnyard theme since they will be selling Ducs and Hogs.4 points

I rode all of 555 today. It was pretty clean until south of 78. After that it was the usual gravel and torn up parts. Took 7 over to 144 and headed back north. Hit parts of 377 and 550. Gassed up in Malta and hit 669, one of favorites, took it to 668. Ended up doing around 330 miles total. I turned over 65,000 on the FJR, today. Oil change and some other maintenance tomorrow.2 points

Exactly, that high frequency hiss for hours at a time will destroy your hearing. Hearing aids still suck and cost as much as a good motorcycle.1 point

It's actually a good match from HD's perspective. These two brands have a strong following and strong brand recognition in their respective markets. Their names are on everything and it allows them to mark up merchandise. what other brands have names for their owners? H.O.G.s and Ducatistas. MV was too exclusive and high end and bought when the market was declining. They were expecting too much from such an exclusive brand. As long as they operate them independently, it makes sense. Hopefully they realize the demographics are very different and don't try to cross over too much. Now, from a consumer's perspective, specifically Ducatistas, i think this is terrible. HD mismanaged MV, and micro managed Buell. Ducati has done great as a business with VW's capital as support and Audi's technical knowledge. From VW's perspective, this is smart. This is a direct result from the emissions issue. Fines and costs is forcing them to raise capital while they reorganize. THe biggest losers will be the race teams. VW, with Audi's racing tech and knowledge, has been a great asset to the MotoGP and WSBK development. We'll see that change as most companies without a big racing heritage do not understand the R&D gains from racing wnd will only see costs. Just my 2 cents.1 point

Might be. VW needs money. And Ducati is almost certainly worth more now than when purchased.1 point

Surprised Volkswagen is looking at selling Ducati so quickly... its only been 3-5 years since they acquired Ducati and they have dumped a bunch of cash into racing and new models. The investment appears to have paid off with regard to racing and brand growth. Maybe this is the result of VG's emissions scandal and they need the cash? HD would ruin them just as they did MV Augusta and Buell.1 point

haha dude I did track days sleeping in the back of a $500 trailer... with a $2000 daily driver on closeout gear and street tires for 2-3 years maaaaybe spend 400 a weekend total.. travel days food everything doing 1 weekend a month so what maybe 1600 bucks a year? now... now I refuse to add it up as i'll most likely burn my garage down.... 3 bikes, big truck, toyhauler, 3 gennys, 3 sets of race tires, gas, travel, food, day expenses... ect.... but is the sport just as fun in the beginning as now.. absolutely... just don't play "keeping up with the joneses"1 point
