  1. Here again, this is a 17 yr old kid tellin my 16 yr old son that he has this B2000 with a turbo v-8 diesel in it and he's trying to sell it for five hundo. I think it's bullshit myself, I can't see how you could hold teh weight of a Powerstorke V-8 up in a B-2000, but that it what my kid keeps telling me. On the outside chance it's actually true, turning up the boost (alot) and putting the propane treatment to it would make fuckloads of torque, like 1800 ft/lb or so. Getting the truck to litterally not twist in half would be the hard part here, not making the power to do it. But there again, I can NOT produce this truck at this time, and I doubt I will ever be able to because I don't think it exists. But if it does, and the kid wants $500 for it, you can be sure I WILL be buyin it. The motor is worth twice that on ebay alone. What some wacko would pay for a minitruck with a turbo diesel in it,, who knows, but it's a safe bet it's more than $500. As far as would it beat the Vette? On a track, with a strong rear axle and slicks soaked overnight in VHT, I am guessing it would, at least to half track. Sam's Vette is no slouch, but if a 3500 lb truck (remember the engine weights as much as the B-2000) with 1800ft/lbs of torque can be made to hook and go, it wouldn't be much of a contest. But there wouldn't be any of this 40 roll shit going on either.
  2. I think the other thing that is being missed here, as far as the tires, is the STREET part of pro-street. The idea is a street LEGAL car. Now there are 4 or 5 different tire companies making 'drag radials' or cheater slicks that are DOT approved and treaded. When these cars were built, there were no stream roller Sportsman series tires. Yes the Doberton J does have Mickeys on it, but they were not a street tire, they are a flat track dirt tire. Choices back in the day were few,,, you either ran Indy F-1 rain tires or flat track sprint car tires. If you know anything about a sprint car tire, they are DAMN soft. A couple asphault burn outs and they were done. Putting power to the ground was difficult, and maintaining a street legal status. As fa ras what Derek is saying, about pushing the car hard. That was the point I was making about the J-2000. It was designed and engineered to actally run, and be pushed. This Firebird, with the HP rating it has was not designed to be run much at all. With todays EFI systems, this would be simple, But consider just trying to start a car that had two superchargers that were fed by two turbos that were fed by a single carb. It's not a simple thing of pumping the gas once or twice and hitting the key. The air and fuel have to go through all that shit to get into the cylinders to fire the motor. EFI you just inject the fuel in the manifold above the valve, it goes right in as the valve opens. Personally I think the firebird looks like it was the run of the mill ProStreet car, with a big blower sticking out the hood. Just like all the rest, so the owner got a couple polished turbos, as an after thought, so it wasn't the same as everyone elses, and grafted them in. To me the bug catcher, used as a turbo bonnet, pretty much the give away on that.
  3. Damn, yall ain't mever heard of ProStreet??? The concept is simple, build a show quality car that mimics a Pro Stock/Pro Mod car, but is completely street legal and "can be" (insert trailer queen) driven on the street. As far as the Doberton J-2000. It was the peak of the prostreet car. Engine pics (and check out the rest of it too) http://www.dobbertinhydrocar.com/J2000%20Engine.htm Mind you, this was built 20 yrs, and I don't know that it will even be eclipsed for shock value, and being the King of the prostreet movement. There are several attempts, including the 8 turbo Chevy, but that wasn't even close. Then again, when you build the entire tube chassis from polished stainless, and everything else is chromed or polished somehow... well it makes a statement. But the part of this car that really shocks people is that he drove this. It went to the Saltflats, it went to the race track (mind you it only went 13's) but at the end of the day the guy drove it home. It only takes money to go buy a door slammer and chrome the shit out of it and then drag it around on a trailer to car shows. Planning and engineering are required to make it go down the road more than a mile or two. I suppose you could drve a fuel car to work... if it was a couple miles away... just live on a private road, make a 1/4 accleration pass and coast the rest of the way. Just remember, you will need a pit crew at work to rebuild the car so you can drive it home.
  4. I assume you are talking about the firewall client
  5. You know, you would probably beat it. It may have all sorts of shit, but it's too much shit. Hell the guy is only claiming 1000 HP out of it. If that's all it's good for, I figure the reason is that if it was pushed beyond that it would blow. At least that's my thinking. However, of my kid isn't being jerked around about this truck his buddy has for sale, and it is what he is claiming (Mazda B2000 with a Ford V-8 powerstroke turbo diesel) I will take you over to Trails and let you look at lots of black smoke as I leave your ass behind. But somehow I don't think this truck is what the kid is claiming, and especially for $500..... but I will let you know. Oh yeah, you will have to wait till I get a Ford 9 inch narrowed,,,, I know the truck has the stock rear and that ain't about to hold up to a turbo diesel with slicks and lots of VHT.
  6. I think this fits into the overkill catagory http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-Firebird-TRANS-AM-1978-PRO-STREET-TRANS-AM-TWIN-TURBO-BLOWN-NOS-LENCO_W0QQitemZ4642316168QQcategoryZ6420QQssPageNameZWD6VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. 911 call: 911 What's your emergency? Someone just broke in my house. Are they still there? Yes. Can you see them? Yes. What are they doing? Bleeding. Bleeding??? From what? Gunshot wounds. Hold on, one of them is trying to move, he's reaching the gun he dropped. hear phone set down (BOOM!.... damn the new 500 Mag has some kick) picks up phone again.. Seems the one still had some life in him and was reaching for his gun to shoot me... so anyway, would you send over an ambulance, with a mop to get the blood off the floor........ The way ALL home invasions should end.... as far as idenitfication,,, sure its the asshole laying here bleeding form the gaping hole in his chest from a large caliber handgun
  8. I am gonna park my shit and stay the hell off the road the night the shit premier's. I was dumb enough to go see F&F1, at a drive in. Muthafuckers in Datsun 210's were trying to drag race Vette's that night after becasue they saw the movie and somehow thought their POS all of a sudden was fast.
  9. I don't see why not. You may have to run some sort of stand alone to control it, but I am sure that it would be possible. I have read where guys onthe megasquirt web site are running the megasquirt on their bikes but I don't know if the bikes were EFI to begin with or not.
  10. I have one, but it's narrowed a good bit, has a spool and is stuffed with Strange axle's. I assume that you are talking about the old front loader right? The car it's under is an 80 Monte Carlo and it's tubbed with 31X15X15 I believe to give you some ides of how narrow it is. If you are interested, let me know and I will measure it for you. It's currently setup for ladder bars and coil overs but you could change it to a 4 link with less than the normal amount of hassle. BTW, I also do have a 12 bolt under tha Camaro. Posi with 4.10's. I also have a set of 4.56 gears. I would need enough out of it to convert over to a Ford 9 and mini tub the car though, I have a 9 to be reworked so that cost wouldn't apply, but the rest would. The camaro is an 80 Z-28 but the rear is not the stock bullshit that came in it. Let me know if there is any intrest and I will get you some numbers (width and model numbers off the rear.
  11. Ha Ha! this is getting hillarious. Quit being so defensive there Renner and get back to work. Hell, with a little effort it might be done in time for next season if you keep worrying about what is going on here in CR and not attending to your customers needs. Shit, if you don't hurry, I may have my turbo project done first, and I am not even working on one, yet.
  12. Oh MY GOD!!!!!!!! I think I may have just shit myself laughing! I gotta start watching this show. Are they all like this, a parade of loosers and their LSD enabled 'inventions'.. This shit is too damn funny.
  13. Yeah, get me the specifics and a price for it. I am assuming that it's a steel gear (dist drive). I am also considering your PJ gear drive. Did yo uneed to gring the back side of the idler at all when you installed it? Also, do you have the lock plate and the cam button for it?
  14. So, is there a TV story someplace else where they found this fool in the parking lot of the TV show dead in his car with a hose running from the tail pipe to the interior of the car????? Bwhahahah! I started laughin as the fool was lying about quiting his job and selling him house. (Yeah, I figure that 'his dream got him fired, getting fired got him homeless, and ending up with living in a Volvo wagon, because of 'his dream'. I though I knew what being obsessed was, I honestly had no fucking clue.
  15. I am looking for a set of full roller rockers 7/16, studs for the same. A set of NEW hydraulic lifters, and willing to look at a roller cam (I have lifters) below 630 lift at the valve and under 295 duration. Would prefer something with little overlap and more duration on the exhaust than the intake lobe (nitrous/turbo/blower type). Let me know if you might have anything like that and what it's gonna cost me. This stuff needs to be for a standard block and head, no Jesel or other exotic stuff, just a pre 87 motor standard 441 casting heads.
  16. This may sound horribly stupid, but if teh van has an electronic transmission and teh battery is not charging, it could possibly do what you are talking about. The fast that it wouldn't start, then started later sort of sounds like a bad alternator. You might get it checked out. Just a possible theory.
  17. I am wondering why no one has attempted to get a diesel to run off used motor oil or tranny fuild/hydraulic oil. A guy I know is in the used oil market, and does the shop oil furnaces on the side. THe things heat good (better than heating oil of the same oil consumption) I know that you would need to preheat the oil (same as the furnaces) to get it to burn, but people pay companies to pump the shit off and haul it away in many cases, or at least give it away for free. Before the feds started coloring ag diesel (non-taxed for farm use) red, alot of guys were using a quart of tranny fuild to as a fuel additive to clean the carbon buildup out of their trucks, or at least that's what I was told as I was watching them put it in their tank. They said that too much wasn't good for the engine. I don't know why that is, but if the engine could be modded to run the stuff, or oil for that matter, it would at least be cheap.
  18. Being brutally honest, this is an OLD bow. I have not seen round cams on a bow since the 80's. Bear is the bow manufacture, and the model is Brown bear, I had one long ago. Just from the pictures I can see that it's a cable system (with steel cables) and the string is beginning to fray and I would guess that it's original so it will need to be restrung. As far as value.. maybe $50 and that's not having it in my hand to look at. Reason for the price, it's a maple laminated limb bow, which will dry out over time and crack. I am not saying that your limbs are cracked, without looking at it I couldn't say that honestly. The other thing is the wooden riser (center), all risers are now either composite or aluminium. Wooden risers it was found had alot of deflection and caused inaccuracy in the bow, and it made the bows very hard to paper tune. I know that this wasn't what you were hoping to hear, but at least you know. You might try a bow shop to see if there is a collectors market on these, but I would have to doubt it as I see this model at flea markets and garage sales all the time. They probably made a bizillion of this model bow and handed they out with the tax forms at some point.
  19. Street ricers. Joe, as far as going .714 in the 1/8... not that hard to believe. I had a best of a 7.20 with my camaro with the 350 in it. Mind you that was 4.10 gears, a 350 turbo tranny with a shift kit and the motor was nothing special, a swapped cam, intake and headers with a mildly ported set of 441 (camel hump) heads. Car was stock weight (heavy) full interior, glass and all.
  20. That's what I was doing there, making keys. A locksmith can take care of it right there, and I would advise you to get one that's on site to do it. I was getting $65 plus a service call to make keys if some on called me as a standard call out but I was only getting $30 to do a key at the auction. The competition was pretty steep at the auction for locksmiths.

    Bankrupcy

I have to disagree with this statement, my bankruptcy discharged in 02 and I just bought my second house. More over I kept the old house and refinanced the mortgage on it to bring the payment down on it and leased it to someone. I did have to have a signed lease agreement for the refinance, but the mortgage for the house I am in had no such requirement. Not to get to far into personal business, my net worth owning two homes probably something to do with it, but I refinanced the old house out just below the level that I would need to pay PMI on the mortgage and took that money out for the down payment for the new house. Here's the thing that you need to be damn careful of. The lenders that you are filing on may attempt to give you credit right after the discharge, and in the fine print you will be reaffirming on the old debt. This can not be gotten out of and you will be responsible for the dept again. There are also things that you can't file on.... those being any legal findings, child support, medical debt, and any money that is owed to the government, including federal student loans. Once your discharge comes in you will quickly begin receiving offers for loans and credit cards at silly high interest rates. Get one, but bear in mind what I said about old debt above, don't screw yourself. Use the credit sparingly, buy something that you have the money to pay for and put that money away. Make the min payment the first month and pay it off the next. (Paying it off the month the credit was used will not show up on your credit as much.) Also keep in mind, you can NOT file again for 7 years. Do NOT get in over your head again. I personally was in debt to the point I could have bought a house with the money I owed. Speaking of that, you have to have a minimum amount of debt before it's even possible to file. The amount was $20000. You also will have to show your debt to income ratio, meaning the amount of money you take into your household as opposed to the amount that your bills add up to each month. There is a minimum ratio that needs to be meet before you can file. I believe it's 75% but that might have changed, an attorney will be able to tell you. Your attorney will want paid up front for this, legal fee's can be discharged, so he wants them up front, so he doesn't get screwed. You can reaffirm on some things, but there strings attached to that. You must owe more than the item purchased is worth, and in the case of a house you can 't have more than X amount of equity in that home. If there is any equity you may have to relinquish the item in the bankruptcy. I was able to reaffirm on my house but that's not always the case. Any owned property over a certain value is also subject to seizure as well to cover the debt. Your bank accounts, savings accounts, stocks bonds and other nest eggs are also subject to seizure to cover your debt. I am not telling you any of this to scare you off. I tell you this so you have some idea of what to expect. I will also tell you that some people will look down their nose at you for it, fuck em. I didn't pay any specific attention to your age but I was 24 at the time I filed, and had a 6 figure debt. Banks at the time, and still today will loan money to people that have no business borrowing the money. Builders are the worst offenders at this point offering new homes for $400 to $600 for a monthly payment, hiding in the fine print that you have to refinance in two years and pay off the note, pushing the $400 up to $1400 and leaving the owner holding the bag. At which point it's not there problem. Franklin County is the 3 highest county in the country for bankrupsy's, because of MI and Dominion homes, and these deals and 'other creative financing' that gets people into homes that couldn't afford to paint the fucking thing much less buy it. All I can say is if you have specific questions PM me, or contact an attorney, and above all good luck.
  22. These are impound auctions, you get no keys, salvage title and no assurances that the vehicle runs. I have been to insurance auctions that prices were lower than that. I saw a Chevy pickup sell once that was 6 month's old for $100. Mind you it had burnt to the ground and was nothing but rusted metal, NOTHING was salvageable but maybe the engine block, and even it was questionable. Advertising is everything to bring people in. My auction experience personally State Vehicle auctions = lots of Mexicans buying vans and lots of Indians buying retired police cars for taxi's. There are some deals, but not many. Keep in mind that the vehicles were all purchased new by the state and maintained by union state employees. They are all in good condition and have had scheduled maintenance. I personally bought a 73 dodge 1 ton van from a state auction that needed an alternator and a battery, I put an additional 200000 miles on it and sold it running (but very rusty) and the buyer still is driving it. Impound auctions These are held at the county impound lot on Saturday mornings every 90 days. They are a good source for project cars that you know are going to need work. You will get a salvage title with them and no keys. They must be trailered out, and there are police there verifying that you are not trying to drive them out. If you attempt to drive them out they will be impounded and you will get arrested (ticketed) for operating a motor vehicle with either no tags of fictitious tags. I seen it happen more than once. Airport Impound auction These auctions are not held as often as the county auctions but will get you better cars. Typically these are criminals and dope dealers cars (BMW's and Benz'es) that are 'abandon' by people that fly out somewhere and don't/can't come back to fetch their cars, mostly due to getting busted as the guy at the auction told me. Prices weren't as high on the nicer cars as they were at the county auctions and typically, these cars have keys as they were valet parked. These cars don't show up at the county lot because the airport has it's own police force and operates separately from both the county and city forces. Donation auctions. These you hear about on the radio, at least them asking for the cars they are selling. Salvation Army, Am-vets, Good Will and a number of others all take donated cars to sell at auction. I understand recently that they are making these auctions with a minimum bid of $100 for any car, but that might not be correct, you should verify this if it concerns you prior to the auction. From the ones I have attended, there are cars that run the range of non running Dodge Omni's to clean BMW's that are high mileage. There have been some changes in the way the law allows the tax credit to be issued for these cars so the real shit piles have gone away, but it's not uncommon to have a car with a knock in the engine or the transmission to only have one forward gear. Quick explanation into why I know, I was a locksmith for a long time, and these auctions were easy work that brought in lots of cash quick, at least the county auctions were. I found the other auctions had no lock business, so I just attended the auctions, and enjoyed it so I went back. My best advice is figure out what you are looking for, daily or a project. Then figure out what sort of work you are willing and able to do to a car. If you are willing and funded to swap a motor, then cars can be bought for a song at the donation auctions and those cars can be started and tested on their lots. Impound auctions are a pig in a poke, no keys and no attempts can be made to 'hot wire' the cars to get them running, they will get REAL bitchy about that until you buy the car. There are also fee's at some of these auctions so be aware of them, contact the people holding the auction before going, many of them will only accept cash and certified check so be aware of that too. Be aware that lemon laws and the like do NOT apply to auction cars. You bid you buy. Speaking of that, do NOT bid unless you can buy, your bid is a contract, like ebay so if you have the winning bid, it's yours and you will have to pay for the car. Also, if you haven't attended an auction before, go to one before you go to buy. Car auctions are conducted by experienced auctioneers and typically have experienced buyers, they move quickly. I have seen 60 cars sell in less than an hour at state auctions. Don't stand near the middle of the ring unless you are ready to buy. I literally watched a guy buy a cop car without knowing by scratching his nose over and over. They let him off, because he was unaware that he was even being watched by the auctioneer, but I have seen guys that smoked a pipe and would tip their pipe as a bid, they were experienced and the auctioneer knew them but the point I am trying to make is that picking your nose or scratching your bum will buy you a $30000 bulldozer without you even being aware of it if you are in the middle of the ring.
  23. I don't suppose you specifically remember the working of any of the questions do you? Also, what position were you taking the test for, was it an installer or a maintenance tech for the equipment? Cradle misalignment is either a diesel term about the main caps, or placement of the engine in the frame (duh, you knew that). The specifics of the question will indicate what they are talking about.

    Two-Way Radios

I don't think that is what he meant. He was just saying that scanners will pickup FRS radios. I think the thing that evenrone is missung here is that a scanner will also listen to the police. Problem is that you can't have a scanner in a vehicle in Ohio legally unless you are a policeman, firefighter or amatuer radio operator (requires a FCC license which I do have). Not to mention that the commision of any crime, using a scanner in the commision of that crime (including fleeing) makes it a federal offense.
  25. Cool, give me a call at 989-2459 so we can setup a time for me to come get it.
