  1. I will take to my son tonight, he is over at CTEC in Newark for welding snd we may split the price. Is 500 as low as you are gonna go or is there some bartering room?
  2. Get with Ridenred (Rolla) I think he has one, and I know he has a hipo 427 block.
  3. If you can transport it to Johnstown, I can TIG it up for you. Call me if interested at 614-989-2459
  4. If you end up with this truck let me know. I may be interested in the rest of the truck and the allison trannie. As far as the 454, there were two 454 motors, one was the car 454 and the other was a tall deck 454 truck motor. The tall deck shared the same block as the 366 and measured 10.2 deck height as opposed to the 9.8 of the car motor. Now the 454 tall deck was designed to have pistons with an extra compression ring. There are performance parts for these motors, and they are preferred for strocker motors with big displacements, in fact the Chevy GMPP bowtie block is a tall deck. But you need to know what you have when buying connecting rods and push rods. This may be the motor in your truck, it may not. I had an 87 454 out of a 1 ton that was a 70's HI-PAS (high performance passenger) block. short deck, but was designed for performance use. Chevy will trick you and put all sorts of things in passenger vehicles to get them down the assembly line and install things they have 'extra' as opposed to scrapping them. Which explains the 70's block in the 87 truck complete with shit peanut port truck heads. See if you can get the casting number off the side of the block. There are several web sites that you can use to cross reference it. Get ahold of me (989-2459) if you have questions or want help looking at this truck.
  5. Yes the converter needs to slide in to the trannie until it bottoms out and then only pull back out an 1/8 inch or less. Take a look at the pump drive ears on the convertor and you will see how small the drive area is. When you run a high stall convertor, typically you are also running a shift kit the increases pump pressure and that is what tears them up. There are hardened spacers that Jegs carries that can be used between the flex plate and the convertor mount ears or a stack of HARDENED GRADE 8 flat washers can be used. DO NOT USE CHEAP WASHERS!!! If you use soft washers, grade 5 or below, they will deform under load, cock the convertor and eat the front pump seal out of the trannie.
  6. If it's a cast iron one, I would attempt to sell it on either ebay or a site that does 555 - 57 chevies. Those iron trannies are not much for a performance application due to their weight, but the restorers want them for their cars because that's what was stock and alot of them got pulled for 350's and aluminium cased models that didn't weigh as much. I only say this because those are worth money to the right people, and those people ain't on this board.
  7. Is there anything done to the glide and is it an aluminium case or one of the old cast iron ones??
  8. jeeze My 6 yr old is more mature than this. If this is the only thing that you can come up with the talk about, I pity you. But please let me know if this actually turns into something more than an E battle over the Internet. I would be most amused to watch the two of you beat each other silly and would even bring a supply of chains and ball bats to throw in the ring to increase the carnage.
  9. I am wondering why you think you need a cell? Running a cell only benefits you if you are going to run slot of spray and need to bring the octane rating up on the fuel to stay out of detonation. But the rule of thumb is to NOT have a big difference in the octane rating in the primary and spray tank. Couple this with the idea that a secondary tank will not have a gauge on it so you will have to carefully monitor the fuel level in it because if it runs dry and you spray, your motor and your wallet will not like it much. You can pull your tank, put a second pickup in it, and run a seperate pump and regulator for it, then you have the added tuneablity of the second system without the headache of a second fuel tank, and you never need to worry about running out of fuel. If the car has enough fuel to be driven, it can be sprayed. The only way around it is a pressure switch on the fuel for the spray, so if the pressure drops, the spray shuts down. Also the cost of a second pump and tank though (running a pressure switch on either setup is a really good idea, but run it after the regulator) will push you over budget. You will need a regulator either way, because spray jets are calibrated for 6 PSI and EFI is alot more than that. So run a pressure switch after the regulator so it covers the entire system. I know it's a common practice for racers to run two tanks. Hell I know a couple sportsman guys that run alcohol that have their primary tank in front of their radiator, so the fuel surges to the pump and not away from it on launch. But this really is one of those things that may not be a good idea on a street car. Racers will make one pass, refill the fuel tank, change the bottle and check over everything between runs. Street cars don't typically have that option. Just my two cents.
  10. http://www.americanthinker.com/comments.php?comments_id=6308 Here is a little tidbit worth reading. I heard the audio on this last night on the Shawn Hannety show on 610 AM radio. As funny as Kerry thought this might be, it's also a federal crime to threaten the president of the United States in any way. According to this law -- 18 USC Sec. 871-- which reads, in part: "...Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both." I wonder if the secret service has been to visit with Mr Kerry yet?
  11. inlet and outlet size? offset or straight through?
  12. ehat is your application? are you wanting a stock, a pretty much stock with minor mods for street or a full on racing trannie with a full manual valve body and trans brake and a convertor to go with it?
  13. As you all are aware North Korea has now tested a nuclear weapon with an undergound detonation. I realize there are some that say they have a right to have these weapons, personally I disagree. Mind you, just saying that they will use them is not a valid reason, anyone that has them could use them. Even the fact the they are a wacko, backwards country with a border line lunatic dictator, still isn't it. The idea that there technology sucks is my gripe. Nuclear weapons are a complex thing. Mind you getting plutonium to go critical is not a difficult thing. There are nuclear engineers that say you could get a low yeild detonation by taking two pieces of weapons grade plutonium, holding them in your hands and slamming them together. Problem is that if North Korea's wepon is no better than that, the after effects will be worse than the initial blast. By not consuming all the fissable material in the initial blast because of it being a cheap shit bomb, the radioactive material would be scattered around the blast site and may make the area uninhabitable for 10000 years or more. This is where the idea of the lunitic guy with his finger on the button becomes really scary. Figure that when even Red China thinks that you shouldn't ahve a nuclear weapon, there is a good reason for you not having one.
  14. This man speaks the truth, and the truth is sad. You all know I am a raving republican. But I will say that the party, in Ohio, has a pretty bad rap from some stupid shit that has went down lately. Tome Noey and his coins, Taft and his biggest tax increase in history, coupled with being close to the Bible belt and having alot of religons folks hearing about that sicko and his emails to a kid, that is also a male (double sick). Even thought ther are sickos and perv's on both sides of the party line the conservative side finds it more unacceptable. The same sex marriage vote we had in Ohio a few years ago proves that a vast majority of Ohioains are not homosexual friendly, by either party. Bu t I will say that Blackwell ain't got a chance in hell of winning. The rednecks ain't gonna vote for him becasue he's black, the bklack vote will never lean republician, which makes Blackwell an 'Uncle Tom' in their eyes. The Denocrats are already for Strickland and the Republians I have spoke with are concerned that he is gonna be another Taft. And they figure Talf needs to go, with his whole group of appointed state department directors and we can rebuild and get another republican in after 4 more years of Taft type leadership, with Strickland running the show. I honestly can't tell you I will vote for a govenor this year. There are two things I am incapable of doing, one is bearing children, the other is voting democrat. But I personally can't see making a contribution to more of the same with my vote.
  15. I need pics, I may know of a buyer.
  16. Found you a fogger huh.... Bump for a fellow carb guy.
  17. See Tinman, he's the only one on here that can fabricate well enough to make it perfect again.
  18. It sounds like the coil failed. It's common with MSD boxes because they hit the coil with 375 volts and not the 12 volts alot of coils are designed for. Some coils even say they can't be run with a capacitive discharge ignition system. Short of that, I have a couple MSD 6 boxes that are good, as well as coils that you could use to check it. I also repair MSD boxes, except for the NASCAR specific ones (they are filled with an epoxy that has be to soaked off in acetone). My guess is that you went out and got an MSD box, installed it per the instructions with the white wire feeding from the coil feed out of the ford factory system and used the factory coil. The factory coil is not designed to be hit with the voltage an MSD puts out and it failed. The only way to check the coil is with a low ohm meter, because a regular meter, even a digital will not read the 3 ohms that the primary side should read. The secondary will read about 1200 to 1500 ohms and can be checked with a digital meter though. One other possibility is to temporarly disconnect the MSD and reconnect the Ford ignition to the coil and see if it runs. This would only be possible if you didn't eliminate it. (which I do, two seperate ignitions, one feeding the other is a troubleshooting nightmare) Call me at 989-2459 and I can talk to you about this more or if you have quesiotns feel free to ask.
  19. I don't know dick about the 6.5 but I know that some of the 6BT Cummins motors had a transfer pump in the tank and when it goes bad it acts like this. I would also check your inline tank valve for the dual tanks. I assume it has duals as most duallies did. That will also cause it to starve for fuel and not run right. If none of those things fix it,,, I would attempt to run a line off the input of the pump into a can of fuel, see how it acts. That will be a good indicator if it's the injection pump or the tank and delivery system. If it's the pump, I may be able to get the pump rebuilt at Columbus Diesel. I would NOT replace it with a new pump.
  20. Something you need to check on is what teh tax man says. I heard that Concrete will raise your taxes, be it a driveway, a pad with a hoop for basketball or whatever, asphault doesn't, or at least not as much. IThe person telling me this said that Concrete is considered a foundation, even if it's a driveway. Where asphault is a paving material, they also said that bricks, even paver bricks for a walkway are subject to higher taxes, because they are also a building material. This may all be bullshit, I can't 100% vouch for this,, but it should be checked on so that you don't end up with a bigger tax bill over shooting hoops.
  21. I think you will be fine, the only thing is they will want to take pictures of it as a record of the damage, and unless you conpletely repair the damage, and have them reinspect the car, if there is more hail damage latter on, they will not cover it.
  22. Damn, I thought the one he did with the Mexicans was nutz. This guy is a wack job.
  23. I think the thing that is being missed here is the fact that the political 'job creation' selling point is for jobs that are entry level. Worthing Cylinder is a place to get your feet wet and not much more. There are few carrer fabricators at Worthing Cylinder. Thing is that Debra Price didn't 'create' the jobs either. Politicians do not 'create' jobs other thatn public works jobs and that goes for Democrats and Republcans. Companies create jobs, not politicians. Politicans can create company friendly legislation and tax breaks and enviroments through roads and state controled logistical issues that are business friendly, but these only create an enviroment, not the jobs. But pay close attention to this as well. Politicans can not control jobs staying in an area, be it a city, state or even the country. Delphi is buying out a large number of their employees and sending them on their way because of thier high pay and benifits, that some would argue are too high for the work they are doing (I an one that says press operators shouldn't be paid 32.50 an hour). How is the government suppost to stop this? And to do so wouldn't be neither democratic or capitalistic.
  24. Perry County rules..... It's quiet, no traffic, and no close neighbors to bitch about your loud car. If you break down along the road, several people stop to help. (My sister ditched her car on Zion Rd, 3 people stopped, one guy pulled her out while another one that was taking her kids to school stopped and gave my niece and nephew to school, and you can feel safe letting that happen. When you are out working in the garage, several of the men on your road will stop by, bring beer and go fetch tools if needed. My brother in law started building a garage, one neighbor that was an electrican stopped over, then went home, got his truck, and came with materials and beer, and his wife and kids. He wired the garage as the other neighbors that showed up started sheeting the outside, his wife helped my sister with making lunch while the kids played outside, and when they were all done, no one ask for a dime, Not even the electrican that not only wired the garage, but provided the materials to do the work. Mind you it was a used electric panel and the wire was all partial rolls, but it was done right. It's country life, conservative rednecks, no bullshit, and a handshake and a word is a contract in blood. Enjoy it while you can. Assholes from C-bus are moving that way in droves, and it will suck soon enough.
  25. what model numver is the Holley???? If it's a 2300 series its' probably too big (550 CFM) but let me know. Dave, this is a sale truck, as soon as it's painted and running right it's gone. I would consider that and a 450 holley if I were keeping it.
