What did you do to your bike today?

My only fear is that it may be the regulator? It’s my understanding the regulator is built into the whole unit. Thoughts?

Mine came with a regulator, pick up filter, orings and new wires. Yes I had to disassemble the fuel pump sending unit to install the individual components not sure how yours differs. Here is what mine came with.

Tim what was your pump doing when you replaced it?

Mine started my just cutting out a WOT while in Montana. Would just fall on it's face, cycle the key it would cure it for 10-15 min then it would return. The longer it ran the less effective cycleing the key(or pump) became. On the open road it got to the point that it would not rev above 5k, then 4k, before I knew it had trouble keeping the bike at 70mph on the freeway.

Fought it for two in BFE. Overnighted a pump to a hotel in Idaho. We took it apart in the hotel parking lot with some cold drinks and knock it out in less than a hour with tools we carried with us. All has bee well since.

My regulator is definitely on the pump. I have read at least one situation where a guy replaced just the fuel pump but it did not fix the problem but when he bought the whole assembly from Honda, fuel pump, regulator altogether it fixed it. It sucks basically the pump alone I could get for $70-$80 but the whole OEM Assembly is around $300, and that is doing some shopping around.

Here is how my pump assembly come apart as you can see the regulator that came with my pump kit is the bottom piece of #9 in the diagram. Not sure how the Hondas differ

From what I gather(could be wrong) this is what your pump looks like. The regulator is that silver hat looking thing right on top. Honestly it looks exactly like the regulator on mine(size could be different). I'd call and ask the guys at High Flow Fuel(Quantum)if they have a regulator that will work or if it comes in the pump kit for your bike.

Tim thanks for all the input. That’s exactly what my pump looks like. I looked up my bike on high flow website. It doesn’t seem to come with a pressure regulator replacement but I will contact them tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks again.

Saturday. Max Power joined me and two others for an ADV ride from our breakfast spot at the old town diner in Laurelville to the Ohio river in Proctorville, OH. and then back north to Jackson where we split to go home. Great weather with cooler temp's and very little dust. I turned 270miles with 7 hours of move time on all sorts of road surfaces.

Short 8min Video of the road conditions.

Got out for a short ride Sunday, met up with @Blitz and @Howabusa for a little while. The more I ride the MT, the more I fall in love with it. I just keep throwing it around more and more, it just keeps on delivering.

I noticed that nice wheelie on 78.

Took the chintz Conti-Motion off the front and put my 7k mile Roadsmart 3 back on. Just riding down my drive I noticed the bike was smoother. When I got up to speed from what I could see in the dark and feel through the bars there was no more shaking. Contacted Rocky Mountain to see if there was anything they could do to help me out. Nope. Not upset at all it’s only $60. Often you get what you pay for. I guess I have just been fortunate in the past with the Contis. Lesson learned.

How you healing up?

My Connie only been out once since I got back from the trip west. LOL

I'm healing.  Most of the swelling is gone, but I am still a little sore and weak.  I have a splint/brace that has a steel shank that is rounded at the palm, so I can do some easy riding.

Putting some miles on the Z?

The PR5 on the back on the MT is pretty much wore out. I figured since I'm trailering it to the gap in a few weeks, why not try one of these sticky tires everyone raves about. Got a Q3 to try.

Got my 40L top case today for the Z. Much, much better than the 55L that I took off the Connie to try. Still a tad big looking but the usable space is about perfect. Best part is both bikes and boxes take the same mount so I can use either box on either bike. So I can now carry my lunch to work, run errands and have a place to stow my helmet and gloves when I get there.
