I use an old school Eureka A-frame like this one:

haha, I should have scrolled down to Casper's post.

Classic Boy Scout tent, but so much better than when I used them *cough*twodecades*cough* ago.

Mine is a little over 20 years old. It has my Boy Scout troop number on the rainfly.

We have the Eureka Timberline 2 and the Eureka Apex 2xt. Both are backpacking tents (timberline is very light), inexpensive, but very effective at doing what they are supposed to. The Timberline 2 would be my choice out of the two if it were me and a motorcycle.

I can't remember exactly what brand I have. I'll need to look. It's only 2 poles and like 8 stakes, more if you use the rain fly. It's so damn quick to put up and I think it's got a decent wind rating. Also if you don't use the rain fly, the top is just mesh so you can see the sky. I think it's a two man but it's been so long since I used it. It's really a one man plus your gear. It's what I'd take backpacking and worked well with my dog.

If I think about it tonight I'll see exactly what tent I have.

Okay, so destination. I'm leaning towards West Virginia. I'm thinking Blackwater Falls State Park (www.blackwaterfalls.com). The campground in the park is only $20/night per tent, and allows alcohol. They have electric sites too. Then for those interested, we could go through Maryland and Pennsylvania on the way home to add a few states to the maps.

Here's the map I put together: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=columbus,+ohio&daddr=39.90995,-82.77847+to:39.739591,-82.066639+to:39.58707,-81.9767+to:39.44315,-81.52042+to:39.53447,-81.24726+to:39.72045,-81.09445+to:39.55333,-80.67737+to:Blackwater+Falls+State+Park,+Davis,+WV+to:39.86683,-79.89306+to:39.88377,-80.31626+to:39.95227,-80.51568+to:39.90509,-80.60457+to:39.94146,-80.68588+to:columbus,+ohio&hl=en&geocode=FVjCYQId9okN-ylx3pC5wYk4iDEztbHP-GYy5A%3BFT76YAIdmuYQ-ynTiiwSKHs4iDEzSRv5Vqz8hA%3BFcdgXgIdMcMb-ykj6jfnEP03iDF0VTfU5WSoJQ%3BFf4MXAIdhCId-ylXLYL9yRtIiDHnwpRSYdIJ7g%3BFc7aWQId3Bgk-ynHery0STNIiDF8wZ_gaVkH0A%3BFYY_WwId5EMo-ymztuiNftxJiDGcUO8n-VIAgg%3BFQIWXgIdzpgq-ynXM5gttR42iDHUV4qCXfew1Q%3BFTKJWwIdBvYw-ylRgkPe9wZKiDGb4d-Str0hMg%3BFR3CVAId4h5D-yFDmH6sQv57pg%3BFc5RYAIdvO08-yl3P7djyxI1iDGYr8EFS1hMTw%3BFfqTYAIdnHg2-ykNTf4Ctpc1iDGXeLRKajthxw%3BFY6fYQIdoG0z-ym_Nfb8pME1iDGKRAC2wgd1_A%3BFULnYAIdZhIy-ymPQrshR-g1iDEdCcIW1_CDvA%3BFVR1YQIdyNQw-ynV5V5ShN01iDELTW8gUCNB6Q%3BFVjCYQId9okN-ylx3pC5wYk4iDEztbHP-GYy5A&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=12&via=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13&sll=39.862581,-82.562943&sspn=0.222154,0.528374&ie=UTF8&ll=39.626846,-81.172485&spn=1.783281,4.22699&z=9

What do you all think? It's around 300 miles per day for two days. Nothing extravagant. Hits up some awesome roads like OH555, WV20, etc. Google Maps says around 8hrs down and 6.5hrs home. I'm thinking leave Saturday morning from the Pickerington area. Grab some breakfast, shoot the shit, then hit the road by 9AM. That puts us at the campground between 5-7pm, depending on stops, plenty of daylight to setup tents. Then the drinking and food commences. The ride home is a bit less, finishing with some freeway incase anyone is starting to get tired. All in all, should be home Sunday evening.

As I said before, no matter where we go, it'll be a casual ride. If you want to go faster, fine. If you want to go slow, fine. Where ever we end up going, I can print up maps for everyone.

Looks like a good loop! Its almost 200 for me to Columbus so I'd have to come down Friday night for sure

I figured those from out of town could come in Friday evening. I'll even offer up my place to stay for a few. We have a spare room and a couple couches.

I'm game for staying in state if that's what most want to do. We just have to get something planned soon.
