For your entertainment:
hillbilly step 1 - hook ratchet straps to angle iron on the garage ceiling, attach ratchets to upper triple and lift front wheel
Step 2 - remove wheel
step 3 - place wheel on 4x4s with carpet stapled to them and set them on the sturdy old card table stored in the garage
Step 4 - remove brake rotors and valve stem core
the best is yet to come
Put on the front Roadsmart 3 tire on and discovered I should probably replace my front brakes as well. Waiting on new chain, sprockets, and dampener set to arrive before I put the rear on. I’ll maybe add some pics of my hillbilly tire removal and install later.
By now I have usually had at least 2-3 decent 3-5hr rides in. Often times I sneak in a short ride in February even. All I have managed so far is 1 ride for about an hour.
I left last Friday with my family for Florida and returned this morning at 2 AM otherwise I probably would have been out last Sunday. Glad you were able to take advantage of a decent day.
Got an hour ride in after work today. Even though the CBR is 13 years old now it still makes me grin from ear to ear. I specifically was grinning today as I grabbed a handful of throttle to lift the front wheel into the air or to blast past a car and catch the next set of curves. Can’t wait to be able to head south for some real fun.
Thanks for the report. I’ll never forget the first time I rode 260 years ago and they had a rough road ahead sign posted. The road was full pot holes filled with gravel. Loose stone was everywhere. They eventually fixed it. Hopefully they’ll repair the current issues this year. I know last year the southbound lane had some drops in it. I typically run it north up to 145 so it didn’t effect me much.
I’m so jealous. It’s like 40 here and wind is blowing like crazy. I really need a powersports fix right now. I Tried to ride the quad yesterday while the ground was still frozen. I ended up snapping the master link not even a half lap around my track. Chain wadded up into case saver and broke the the case where the saver bolts into. No real damage to case other than now I’m missing a bolt hole for the new case saver I ordered. Starting to dream like @NinjaDoc of warm days where I can make it to SEO.
What roads are you riding as you’re throwing the MT around? How are the roads down in SEO?
I ordered some things online from Pony. They have some good deals right now. I picked up a pair of Joe Rocket Nova boots for less than $50. They remind me of a pair of Joe Rocket boots I had before. Not the best boots but for $50 I like them. I also grabbed a pair of IXS textile pants for around $70. They’re the best pants I now own. I also grabbed a $40 Vega chest protector for the quad.
It’s not the last day for students. It’s the last day for teachers. I make an appearance then sort of disappear, but I have to show up and wrap the year up.
I finished watching the mud fest last night. I think they mentioned the next 4 events will be in domes. I’m looking forward to that and to see if someone is going to start to establish a win streak.
I’m watching. I haven’t finished watching the last round yet. I DVR it because I’m too old to stay up and watch it live. Usually I have watched all of the race by this time during the week but the mud fest is not as interesting to me.
Maybe if the kid who peeled the original dealer sticker off my 2015 Silverado could have used this my brand new truck would not have needed the tailgate repainted. Instead he wrote his name in the clear coat with a metal 1.
